when I first moved to simi two years ago, I couldn't get a unit anywhere in town, called around and sure enough, west simi had one unit left, and it was also cheaper than the two closest storage places at the time for a climate controlled unit. I showed up and had a lock and key in my hand within 15 minutes, the on site manager is amazing and has been for almost two years, he values your time and truly cares about the customer experience overall which was a huge plus for me being in a new area. For the facility itself, they have tons of nice moving carts and dollys. doorways are nice and wide, the bathrooms super clean. The manager was always extremely happy to see my service pup and he would always offer a helping hand When needed! I could go on and on, but truly I Couldn't image a better experience with a storage facility! read more

This is my second time at West Simi and both times have been great. They explained everything. If i was late with a payment they called me to remind me. I used auto pay after that and it was smooth moving out too. It was clean and I didn't have to come and check on my stuff. Other places I have used I was flooded out by their burst pipes and no one told me ect., my stuff was ripped off. Not so with Simi Lock up. read more

So I was enticed to update my review based off of extenuating circumstances. As my previous review stated I had an issue with the customer service at the facility. As it turned out my friend needed the storage unit for an additional month. With that being said the storage facility did end up honoring the credit for purchasing a uhaul. The only reason is because the unit was being rented another month. In no way did this benefit me as I was technically no longer utilizing the unit and the credit did not directly effect my pocket. With that being said the manager did come over and apologize for the issue; however he continued to use the excuse we were busy that day. Still not a valid excuse but just because he took the time to read the review and address it with me I was willling to bump their review up to the 3stars. read more

This is not my first experience with self storage, nor with West Simi Lock Up. I love this facility. It's clean and most importantly it has great security. They have a deal where your first 3 months is 50% off, we only needed ours for 4 months so this was perfect for us. They even called us to let us know when we were going to be overdue which could incur a late fee and let us pay over the phone so we wouldn't be charged. I would definitely come back here. The only reason it's a 4 instead of 5 is because I felt the price was on the high side. Still, you get what you pay for. read more

This is the place to store your belongings if you are in Simi Valley. After having had a very negative experience with another self storage company (theft, dirty, unhelpful) it was a delight to visit (and contract with!) West Simi Lock-Up. I was taken on a tour of the various units by Phil and all the details were laid out. This facility is Clean, Clean, Clean! Their landscaping and roses look better than many homes. While pretty roses is not reason to rent a storage unit, the care shown for the units and grounds is..While looking at the unit I rented, there was a small piece of paper on the ground and Phil picked it up without even missing a step. Richard, the manager, introduced himself and presented a very professional and caring demeanor. I actually felt the personnel cared about my storage needs and wanted it to be a good experience for me. They also had some remarkable specials I was happy to take advantage of. It is refreshing to find a business run this way...I am not going to have a minute's worry about the safety of my storage items! read more

I have been with West Simi Lock-Up for four years now. What was supposed to be a temporary move ended up being not so temporary. I couldn't be more pleased, especially with the management. I have used other facilities, but in my experience West Simi excels in terms of care of the facility and customer service. The units are well taken care of and there is good surveillance of the property. I'm just getting ready to finally move out of the unit and Dean, the manager, was exceptionally helpful in working with me. Where do I start? I was in DESPERATE need of a storage unit 2 1/2 years ago. I went into West Simi Lock Up fighting back tears and exhausted. Darrin was so nice and helpful. I got a unit immediately. I have never had a problem there. The complex is extremely clean and I never worry about my belongings. Dean was a great addition to the place. I looked forward to going in every month to pay my bill and chit chat with him and Darrin. Whenever I needed extra time to get to my unit they were always more than happy to extend the gate time. August was the last month I needed to have a unit. I'm kind of sad I won't be seeing them anymore. Guess I'll have to stop by sometime for coffee and catch up with them. It's looking like my mom might need a unit soon and even though we are on the opposite end of Simi, I wouldn't even consider going somewhere else. Finding a storage unit long-distance (Oklahoma to California) was nearly impossible, but the people at West Simi Lock Up worked with me and made the experience totally painless. They also had a great special at the time, which saved me money. Everything was spelled out quite plainly in the beginning (such as no pro-rated fees -- monthly fees only) so there were no misunderstanding when my month was up and I wasn't ready for a few days, it meant paying for the entire month and I was prepared for that. The office staff was very helpful and friendly. They even suggested a certain unit so it would work best with the full-sized moving van I had coming. The layout was perfect for large trucks. The restroom was spotless -- important to me. Overall, it was an excellent experience. read more

The only nice thing I can say about this place is that it is clean, but keep in mind that this is my only experience with self storage so how hard it is to keep concrete clean. I do however have a lot of experience in business and would never think lightly of writing a bad review but this experience just warranted it. WHATEVER these people tell you verbally - DO NOT believe it. I was told with witnesses present that in case I were unable to move out on my move out day that I could pay for the few extra days that I used and would not be held responsible for the entire month. So as planned I contacted them to make the payment for those few days and was told that I needed to refer to my contract and would be responsible for the entire month. The person telling me this was the very same person that had only recently told me that a few extra days would be no problem and he even admitted that he told me that but said that Mgmt made it very clear that would not be acceptable so if I wanted my sofa I would need to pay the entire month even though I was only 4 days into a new term. To add insult to injury I now am being forced to pay for additional days because the notice to vacate that I signed previously (and was assured it would be sufficient by the same person) was no longer valid and here is the kicker - although I MUST pay for the extra days to cover the 15 day notice my stuff must be out before the end of my term or else I have to pay for the entire month! I swear if I hear someone tell me to refer to my contract one more time today I am going to SCREAM! read more

We live in Redlands California, and had gone to an auction at the famous Dave's that had gone out of business. We did not bring a big enough trailer and at 4:45pm realized we were going to need storage as we could not leave anything behind in the building because it was being locked up. We called West Simi Lock Up. My wife spoke with the facility manager Dean Hoover and asked him if we would be able to get a storage unit on the last second notice. He had one unit that had become available that day. He said he would stay late and wait for us until we could get over to him. Dean hooked us up and stayed until 6pm and he couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Not only are the people at West Simi lock up friendly, but the whole facility is extremely clean and nice and well taken care of. I told Dean when we checked out and cleaned out our unit, that I wish I lived out here, because I would store something there just because they were super great!!!
