Move in date was today. No manager onsite so was Unable to confirm reservation and buy lock. Left message for manager. No return call. Unit floor saturated from water dripping from ceiling. Could not move in. App chat was AI. Couldn't get live agent. Tried 800 number. After several loops of automation on the phone, finally talked live person. At this point I wanted a refund and cancel rental. Per the live agent, contract was cancelled And I would not be given a full refund although service paid for was never received. Asked to speak with a supervisor and call was transferred back to the initial automation loop. Had to notify my credit card to dispute charge due to services not rendered. Public storage no longer has real live management to speak to for resolving issues. read more

I have to leave a negative review. I was scheduled to move in on Sunday the 11/27/2022 and the front door was locked. Instructions said to meet with the property manager but no one was there in the front office. I couldn't get inside and was charged an extra hour because I had movers waiting on someone to let us in to unload my things. Luckily one of the workers to the property(not the manager) helped me out and was able to square me away so I appreciate that. But I ended up having to pay extra to the movers because of the waiting around. read more

Lousy security. My unit was broken into and a bunch of stuff was stolen. Then I find out they have no cameras in the aisles with the storage units, only outside of the building. Also they give you a low move in rate and after a while start jacking up the price, they keep raising it higher and higher. read more

Absolutely horrific. There is never anyone in the office during business hours and it is impossible to speak with anyone over the phone.

The move-in process was so easy. I was able to pick out a unit and do all my paperwork on their website. When I was ready to move in my unit was ready and they had left a padlock inside the unit if I needed to purchase it. You can download the Public Storage app. which has a feature allowing you to open the main gate and access doors remotely. The building is kept clean and has many security cameras. I would often visit my unit at night to pick up or bring back my belongings and would always feel safe especially knowing the managers live on site. I recently moved my storage to Moorpark to be closer to my home. I stayed with the Public Storage company because of how well the managers made my experience at the 120 Easy Street location in Simi Valley. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!! No one is EVER at the office during office hours, the dolly's are locked up and you have to ask a worker to unlock them to use. A worker finally came in today, and when I asked her to unlock the dolly's for us to use (on a 115 degree day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), her reply was "I'm not working, the office is closed today." IT'S NOT A HOLIDAY! IT IS 2pm on a Friday!! Now we have to drive around and find big enough dolly's to buy even though in our lease we are suppose to have access to use them!!! What was she doing at work then? Why is she not working??? She never gave me a reason why the office is "closed" and why she can't just unlock them for me to help with our long day of moving. Not to mention, I'm pregnant and tried calling the manager multiple times and no one EVER answers the phone. They also don't prorate you when you leave just a few days after the 1st. You are charged the full month. I hate this company so much and cannot wait to get my belongings out of here, especially after reading all the other reviews and finding out how many robberies happen here... thank goodness we weren't here long enough to experience this. I had to get out of an abusive situation. I'm on disability. I found this location affordable and close. things were good for about a year or so then once Covid hit there was as slight increase, then a few months later another. Now I'm being charged over 84% more than I was initially paying. There are several news stories on Youtube about Public Storage raising their rents. The stories said it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask for a reduction back to the initial rate. I did. The manager said she would put in a request and get back to me. I got a text the next day saying my rent was due, and it was still at the 84% higher rate. There are other units within a mile radius that are no more that a few percentage points higher than I was originally paying. I will be moving to one of those as soon as I find help to move my stuff. I would NOT suggest anybody rent from ANY Public Storage facility. According to my research extremely high rent increases are normal. read more

This review is for Stephanie manager of Public Storage (PS) at the 120 Easy Street location in Simi Valley. Corporate's automated system had raised my unit monthly rate by 50% in 2022. I have been a loyal customer for over 5 years...My understanding is that Corporate does not notify management when they raise a customer's rental unit price, it's an automated system that does it. Stephanie was extremely responsive, caring, professional and followed up on my concern of not being able to afford to keep the unit due to the drastic price increase. Stephanie called me within 24 hours, was friendly, helpful assisted in a rate reduction explained additional options which kept me as a customer. Had it not been for Stephanie, I would have emptied my unit and PS would have lost a loyal customer. Thank you Stephanie!!! read more

Just need to state that I was welcomed by Tracy and he was professional and knowledgable as I requested quite a few answers prior to renting a unit. I feel confident that my storage unit is secure and safe from fire, critters, and unauthorized individuals. The storage facility was clean, and Tracy explained the procedures for using the code boxes on the gates, and the time the facility was open for accessing my unit. He showed me where my unit was, how to make it secure with the lock I purchased, and brought me back down to the office to fill out the necessary papers. Mgmt was very cavalier admitting they had a problem w/ another client complaining of the same issue but nothing was done. I filed a police report cleared out whatever was left (xmas decor) and will NEVER do business w/ this facility or public storage again. read more

I do not recommend consideration of this location until management addresses safety, process, management issues & consistency in customer service. -2nd floor vagrancy witnessed on two occasions within a week at the end of January 2017. -heavy cigarette smoke inside 2nd floor -just a heads up that these units are not climate controlled. (I didn't realize that each property is different.) -plywood floors. The unit I was going to rent had a strong odor similar to oil or grease. There were what appeared to be oil stains on the plywood. -no signage on door indicating when they will return to the office. Both times I went to this location during business hours & both times I waited in excess of 15 minutes. The first time was morning & Ryan was working. He said he forgot to put the 'back in ...' sign on the door. The second time, I believe it was Chris? on shift...I was there at 4:30 & he did not return until 5:10. He also acknowledged that he forgot to place the 'back in ...' on the door. I live 15 miles away (I called ahead) so my ability to return was limited. -District Manager: Jonathan. Unprofessional, verbally abusive, apathetic, aggressive & overall appalling customer service. A caustic & angry individual. -Note: Brandon has left the company. I saw the phenomenal reviews about him & it appears that he was wholly responsible for much of the positive feedback. He confirmed with me on his last day that his coworker & manager both overlooked his specific account notes on my reservation. -inconsistent reservation hold dates. I reserved a unit on 1-10 & was told that it would be held until 1-17. I was later informed by the DM that it expired on 1-11, but was told by the location during 2 prior discussions that it was held. I was also told by the 800# that it was confirmed. I had to switch locations on 1-14 & received a confirmation hold email for 1-21. However, when I arrived, I was told that the reservation had expired. There was a lot of unnecessary confusion & myriad superfluous discrepancies that ultimately made this a financial & emotional catastrophe. -inconsistent rate information. I spoke with the 800 number both in May 2016 & in January 2017. Both times I was provided rate information & both times there was some indiscrepancy upon check in with the location. The first time(at westlake village, ca), I was not made aware of the admin fee & the manager informed me that I had to buy their lock as well as their insurance(I even had my declaration page from my HO insurance with me). The second time (Simi on Easy St.) was a devastating experience. The reason it was so disgraceful was solely due to the DM(Jonathan) & the verbal abuse that I endured because of what turned out to be an internal oversight that could have easily been resolved. Ryan tried to check me in on Brandon's reservation. Brandon was off that day. Apparently, Ryan was unable to view Brandon's notes on my account which started the spiral of unprofessional approaches to what could have been resolved expeditiously & efficiently had the employee followed protocol in reaching out to management for assistance. Instead, I left with my things, had to cancel the movers & delay my entire project. If you decide to go with PS, the key components to success are to verify your rate over the phone with the property location. Make sure to get the name of the individual you speak with & check in on a day that that person will be there. Inconsistency reigns supreme - just verify & be diligent. I cannot stress enough that you should definitely inspect your unit before you make your final decisions. Ask the questions that are important to you. Trust your instincts & rent elsewhere if you feel unsure at all. Escalate to the Regional office if you encounter an issue or if your questions are not addressed to your satisfaction. Side note: I did escalate to the Regional VP & she was exemplary of customer service. After enduring Jonathan's abuse & his complete refusal to review what was clearly an internal issue w my reservation, I reached out to his supervisor for assistance. I also called the 800 number to attempt to piece together what had happened. Sharon was lovely & amazing & was the definition of what I would expect to be the face of Public Storage. If she succeeds, there very well may be a different & more professionally consistent tone to the approach of the Property Managers & their DM in the future. In the end: -I trusted my instincts & did not rent at this location. -the 800 # confirmed what I was piecing together. Brandon had adjusted the rate & left notes under my account for the person that would check me in. These were overlooked by Ryan & by the DM(Jonathan)...which caused the initial issues. -the 800# also confirmed that the reservation was held & they verified exactly what I had recorded as dates & rates. -Jonathan berated me & was ultimately found lacking in his ability to accurately address an internal issue with aplomb & professionalism read more

I hadn't been to my storage unit in years, and thank goodness I had Matt (H) to answer all my questions. I have to have the padlock cut off the unit I rent, which Matt explained and set up for me. I had bought a new padlock, which wasn't one of the "superior" ones, but Matt did inform me of the choices available there and safety factors. I do not enjoy having to dig through my storage unit, but Matt's friendliness, helpfulness and knowledge certainly helped me get ready to face the whole ordeal! Thank you Matt!!!! read more

Matthew not only helped me with what i need and wanted, he did so with a smile and great enthusiasm. Its hard to find someone that not only cares about the customer but does so in a way that makes you feel at ease. Finding a storage company as good as Public Storage is not easy to find. I have been to most and all i can say is that Public Storage is the best. I would not trust my belongings with any one else. Stay far away from this business and business site if you plan on storing anything of value. I had been a customer for many years and stopped by my space a couple weeks ago and found an unknown lock on my space. I put another lock on the space and asked for the unidentified lock to be cutoff and after this was done my worst fears were realized as when I opened the door everything had been stolen from a full 10 by 10 space that included personal items and thousands of dollars in Disney collectibles. The employee on duty (Brandon) was nice enough but the district employee in charge of this building is a terrible representative of their company (unless that is how they are trained) and didn't care one iota. Upon filing my claim with the Simi Valley Police Department that day, he let me know that this location had had previous break-in's and they had arrested somebody in 2016 so as far as I know my locker had been robbed sometime in the last half of 2016. The company and location didn't think it was important to notify its customers that this type of activity had been going on so they could make some decisions about changing locks and/or locations even though they are very prompt each month to notify you via email your bill is due and the payment has been made! I have never encountered such an unsympathetic, uncaring company and management in my business years as this who's current commercials go out of their way to give you peace of mind if you use their services. read more
