After having my car stored here for 5 plus years this office called me to tell me I need to move my vehicle so they have to repave, when 3 years ago they did the same thing, needing to "repave", basically forcing my hand to move my vehicle and I have no other place to put it, I move my car to be polite. They charge me the full months rent @ $308 for one day, moved car on the 2nd and refused to give me any type of compensation after giving them close to 20k in in storage fees. Absolutely absurd. This review is in regards to Public storage as a Company. I had moved some things into a 5x10 in July of 22 for $132. In October of 22 I moved into a 10x15 unit that I was paying $303 for. In February PS supposedly sent a post card with a rate increase to $424. That's a 40% increase in 4 months. Current units (July of 23) at this location in this size rent out for less than $330 (confirmed by other tenants), and 10x30 are listed at $387. 4 miles down the road at another PS the same size unit is listed for $243 with the second month advertised as free. Not to mention I was declined the $1 first month promotional offer that was advertised due to limited availability. Public Storage's business model is to, take advantage of their customers by enticing you with offers then raising your rate well beyond the current monthly rate once you're settled, despite paying your bill early or on time. On-site staff is friendly and attentive but claims to have no ability to adjust invoices or pricing structure. Facility is easy to access and has good hours. read more

I was a customer for the last 3 years. Paid my bill on time (auto pay) My rent has not been consistent. They raised the price $100 per month 2 times and finally when I complained, charged me less for the month (that I complained.) After that, the price went back up and was increased $300. This month I was told that my unit would now go up again to $850 a month. 3 years ago it was $365. They would not return my calls when I tried to request a lower price and finally was told if I wanted a unit for that lower price I would have to leave the unit I was in. So I called another storage facility nearby and they gave me a great price ($400 a month) and it's nicer and safer. The market value for this place for 10x30 is around 425. Unfortunately this place is threatening to take me to collections if I don't pay the $850 because I got out a day too late when I told them that I had to rent trucks and labor and move pallets of very heavy inventory into another unit that was still occupied in a very short amount of notice. Either this company or this locations owners are crooks. Do NOT rent space here. Wish I could give it no stars. Also beware of low pricing to lure you in bc they just raise it gradually and told me that they have the right to raise it at any time. read more

Needed a storage unit same day, went online and found the size I needed, at the closest location to me. Booked the unit, filled out the paperwork and moved in all same day! Very impressed with how easy the app and gate system are to use, and my unit was clean and ready within a minute of me signing the rental paperwork. read more

So far, so good. I just rented a drive up 10'x10' and Stephen (the on site manager) has been very helpful. I love that you can open the gate using the app. Stephen saw the lock I was intending on using and suggested that I consider getting a better one, so I did. A nightmare from day one, I pulled up to the storage with my movers and was literally locked out, for 2 1/2 hours, on the clock the movers charge me $80 an hour and I paid an additional $180 for the time and they only gave me a $40 credit and moving out the storage on October 5, 2018 they also charging me for an extra month $268.00 can you believe, dirty stinking dogs they are very extremely rude!!!!!!! The manager Johnny is the worst he's the district manager he doesn't have any feelings at all , and he wouldn't even give me a break and give me a prorated amount so now I'm stuck holding the bag I'll tell you what I'm not ever paying them I don't care how long it stays on my credit I don't care!!! Since 2011 my mother had been I using thus Storage Location. My step father passed away 10/2020 unexpectedly, his passing put my mother in a burg Financial Issue. She was down to one income, worked Part time, COVID & the shut downs & too make everything go wrong, my mother was given the news that she has Breast Cancer. My mother in Good faith was making payments not the full amount she was suppose to,, herself, myself & my aunt communicated via emails her situation to the DM. To the end without notice no communication at all went ahead and sold her Unit & sent her a Post letting her know that it was sold. This is very sad from Public Storage read more

DO NOT STORE your belongings here. If i oculd give zero stars I would. My mom and about 4 others had their units broken into and items stolen and all the management is doing to fix the situation is to replace the broken locks with the same type of locks that the theives broke off. They aren't adding security or cameras or anything. I think it might be an inside job or something because one row has been targeted multiple times. read more

This experience went as follows; I have some storage space in Newbury Park and wanted to find a more convenient location to store my stuff. I looked online and found this PS-Simi location had exactly what I wanted. I called the main switchboard and asked about the space, confirmed prices and fees over the phone. Basic online sale price with $1 for 1st month. There's also a $24 start-up fee, for reasons unknown. Still okay. I set up an check-in appointment for the same day. This process required emails and call backs. Extensive, but organized I arrived to my appt on time. The manager was a young woman who kept a very sloppy desk. The office had a weird smell. When I walked in, the manager looked at me surprised. Asked me what I needed. I told her I had an appointment. She seemed surprised, then looked at her computer screen for a second and then said, "oh yeah...". It was a weird introduction, because it was almost as if I walked into someone's bedroom. Didn't she know she had an appointment? Why go through all the hassle to schedule something, only to be treated as if I walked off the street? I just rolled with the punches. Upon getting introduced, she asked me what I was putting in the locker. I told her various storage items and home pieces to make way for home renovations. But that wasn't enough. She was inquiring to what exactly I was storing. A bit unsettling. I asked, 'do you want an itemized list of everything in our space", and she said, "no, I just want to know how big they are". I told her "items smaller than you". Ironically that seemed to be the answer she was looking for. When I was showed the space, I saw water stains on the walls and asked her if they had any water damage in the past. She replied "no one ever complained about it". I accepted that answer as inconclusive and disingenuous. Around this time, I was informed that I was required to BUY a lock from them. I told her they did not state that on the phone and her response was; "Yeah, the operators are not allowed to say it on the phone." Red flag? I told the manager I have my own lock, and she said it 'must be like this' pointing to a rounded type lock. When I insisted on buying my own, she was very defensive and upset I was not buying HER lock. I insisted on driving to lowes down the street to buy a lock, and she actually said she would not rent me the space until I show her the lock and she approves it. This was almost like being in high school. After some light mockery over the intrusive policies, she finally conceded and allowed me to rent the space lockless, and she waived the lock approval process. Lucky me. The manager said the lock issue was about protecting the customer. I was very polite, but assertive. I was very clear that I knew it was not HER policies at issue. I said I wasn't challenging her, but it was the company policies I was uncomfortable with. Manager got more defensive back at the office. I gave her my driver's license, filled out all my personal information on a separate form. I don't know why I had to fill out a pen/paper form while she added the same information into the computer. Lots of redundancy here. It was all just very weird, like I was checking into a 1960's commune. The manager showed the fees on the screen and asked me to confirm. Everything was fine. After putting in all my personal info into her computer, fees were confirmed, lock policy settled, I was handed the upper-cut of all upper-cuts. She said, "okay, before renting a space, you will have to buy our insurance." Insurance? I'm thinking, they're selling insurance now?? For crying out loud, I just...want...a...storage...space. That's all. By this point, there's no room for anger. This experience had officially become a farce. I told her I am not buying insurance and she claimed they can't rent the space unless I buy their insurance or I acquire 3rd party insurance... for storage. I told the manager I could check with AAA, but I wasn't sure what to ask. I asked for their insurance requirements, and she handed me a piece of paper and said "read that". I asked her what to tell my insurance company, and she said again "just read that". The manager said she will not rent the space unless I get insurance, and I told her I'm probably going to cancel. She got angry at this point and began swearing at me (using the f word). Based on the very unprofessional atmosphere, I told her she was not ready for prime time. She actually chased me out of the office yelling expletives at me. She locked the door and got on her cellular phone. A witness was with me, and they were floored with laughter. It was so insane, it was funny. If I was in a pinch it would have been bad, but I was able to survive this one. I actually had to speak through the mail slot, trying to get my paper/form back (with all my information). That manager has all my personal information and she is not a stable person. This PS location was shady. Mistake. read more

But have to say thinking about moving my stuff out, the New Manager Steven is Rude & Not well Trained when dealing & talking to Customers. I've never seen or spoke to him but once, he made it out as if he had big issues w/myself & my husband and also that we're there every single day. And my Unit I'm paying for it & now im being questioned for the amount of times/days I go??????? Get rid of him or you will be loosing many Customets read more

There are serious problems with the location in Moorpark, Ca. My husband or myself when we go always have a problem. This morning at approximately 9:30 when my husband went there, he wanted to use the dollie (which are always locked with cobwebs attached) however, the office was closed with a note on the door that stated they wouldn't be open until 11:00 AM. He couldn't get to do what he wanted since our space is on the second level. This place is always filthy, lights in front of our unit have been out several times over the past few years, and the floors have rubber tire marks and is always filled with dead leaves, dirt, and trash. I have even seen rat droppings. All these people do is raise rent every year. I suppose they have no pride in ownership if this property. I don't know about their other locations. read more
