I had a unit here for several years, just moved out to get a place closer to my house. Everything was great, staff was always responsive and helpful. I thought this place was a great place to store my belongings while I was looking for a new place. The staff seems friendly, there are plenty of cameras, there are carts to move things, and the pricing seemed fair. However!... I finally have a new place to live and the gate is locked. I know its a holiday (new years). I fully expected the office to be closed. Why close the gate? What's the point of having a safe place to store things if you can't get to it when you actually need to? read more

I came here looking for storage, and I left with so much more in my life. My business had closed down in San Diego and I didn't know if I was moving to Ventura County or Los Angeles County. I found a beautiful home in Thousand Oaks, but I wouldn't be able to move in for several months. I came across this place by chance as I was in the area, and I was impressed with everything I saw. Additionally, I got the first two months half off, which was perfect since that was enough time for me to get everything else sorted. While I had my stuff in storage (which I needed two full units for), I was always able to access my belongings whenever I needed to. There was never any problems with any of the furniture I kept there, and the manager Jacquelyn reserved the storage moving van for me at no extra cost. Jacquelyn was always pleasant when I needed something, and she always asked me about how my business and move was going. The day I finally moved into my house and to take my stuff out of storage was both happy and sad. Sad because I was leaving my friends at SoCal Storage that had supported me every step of the way during my move, but happy because a new chapter of my life was about to begin, and I had memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. read more

She even let us use the moving van free of charge to move in and she gave us a discount on our unit. The facility is clean and they have carts for you to use. Very unhappy!!! The only reason I went with So Cal was their use of their free moving van. But it's never available. When I moved into the storage unit there was no van available and now that I'm moving out a year later it's again "not available". I went in a month ago to talk to the girl at the front desk about booking the van. She said not to worry and call about 10days prior to book it. Which was a lie. There are other problems as well. Like they have a huge insect problem and all my stuff is covered in bugs. I had to spray my boxes before moving out to not infest my new home. I pointed the bugs out to the girl at the front and she just ignored me. Not to mention that the price just kept going up and up the entire year I've been there. read more

I just started renting a unit here and I must say, it's very clean, very secure with multiple cameras and a key code to enter and leave. All the units are easy to get to for unloading. The dollys are also large, clean and well maintained so they make your job easier. The temperature of the units is perfect because they are isolated so they stay at a good stable room temperature. Ryan the manager was absolutely great in every way and that was a big determination in picking this place over another space in Simi. Ryan explained everything so well and did not waste our time, never pushy, never rude, never condescending, very organized and very clear and upfront about all the fees and discount specials. I wish most businesses had a gem like this guy working for them! read more

If you're ok with your belongings being permeated with cigarette smoke, then this place is perfect for you. If not, stay away. It seemed like a great place at first -- gated, plenty of cameras, tidy outward appearance, but it ended up being anything but. My first clue should have been how filthy the unit was once I moved in with the bits of trash, clumps of hair and dust, and leaves(in an inside unit!) all over the floor. I contacted management immediately about the cigarette smell in my unit and was told they have no other units available for me to transfer to and they could not refund me whatsoever if I move my things out, even though I had just paid rent 2 days prior to my discovery. I ended up moving out ASAP regardless to prevent further damage to my belongings and am now happily at another, better facility in town where I can access my things 365 days a year AND after 7PM. What a concept! I'm actually glad this happened as I ended up with a storage facility that I feel much safer at with an amazingly wonderful manager. No wonder SoCal storage is so cheap and attracts such shady tenants. You definitely get what you pay for! read more

This place is ridiculous. Had a problem on the website, guy at location cannot figure it out. Claims will call be back. Does not. I have to call back. Woman explains ten dollar a MONTH hike for mandatory insurance. That is a scam. It was never important to them before this point. I protest and the employee tells me, if I pay the new fee THIS month, NEXT month it will be back at the regular rate. Another scam. Low and behold, this month, same increased rate. No notes on the account, no empathy, no apology, just screw you, pay the new rate. The rate we made up, because we want more profit. This person took no accountability, claims she will speak to her staff. Just a horrible way to do business and treat customers that have been around for ten years. read more

Went here to get a personal & company unit and was impressed. I had a lot of questions and often make things difficult But the gentlemen working was named Joe or John I can't recall. He was fantastic, he took time to write down all my questions and answered each one. I wanted two units but we couldn't find two close to each other. I have rented a storage unit here for several years. The staff is very nice. Jackie, the manager, has always been extremely helpful and accommodating. The units are good size, the halls are well lit, monitored, and the place is kept at a nice temperature. I have rented at other larger facilities before and these units are more easily accessible. There are rolling carts to move your things and a moving truck is available to move in. My daughter also rented a unit here when she needed it for a few months and was very satisfied. I had an amazing experience from a genuine great person today! I showed up to SoCal Storage on Cochran around 5:30pm today, the sign said open so I walked in. The gentleman who was getting ready to leave said, "sorry sir but we are closed". Closed but the sign says that your open! He said, no we close at 5! I had called yesterday and a lady said you closed at 6 and I need to book my storage unit for an upcoming move! He looked at me and said, do me a favor flip my sign around and let's get your storage unit rented... I couldn't believe what I just heard! You know just when I thought there were no more good people in this miserable state, I found one! Mr Ryan Doyle, you sir are a true asset to the company you work for!
