In town for a quick visit and wanted some down-home cooking. This little cafe did not disappoint! This place was Joplin' and they ran it like a well-oiled machine! The onion rings were nice and crispy and served with Ranch (like every Texan likes)! The Mac and cheese was fabulous. All around great meal! Wait Time - we came on a Saturday morning at 11 am and it was extremely packed. There were 20+ people in front of us, but we got seated within 3 minutes. (We had a party of 2). Service - The other yelpers were accurate in saying that the service was awesome. Everyone was super friendly - I think I was asked 4 times by 4 different people if I was okay or needed anything else. This is what the queen of England must feel like. Food - the food was good, not superb. But still good: I went healthy and had the three egg western omelette - substituted for egg whites. Definitely recommend it to anyone trying to watch their weight. I will definitely come back again to try the pancakes and CFS though on a non healthy feeling day - they were both humongous looking! read more

Great service and delicious southern food. I ordered the steak & eggs and added a pancake. I asked for the steak to be medium rare and it actually came out red in the middle (good start). The hashbrowns were slightly crispy which is just the way I like it. The pancake was light and fluffy and they are not skimpy on the syrup (got a whole bottle for myself). There was a slight wait when we came in (noon on a weekend) but the tables move fast and we didn't have to wait long. Will definitely be back! read more

I eat there every Tuesday morning and lunch at least once a week. Great diner food.

It was okay, I had French toast to much powder sugar and the sausage was over cooked. My husband had steak and eggs he said the eggs were good but the steak was like shoe leather he asked for medium and well done instead he didn't finish the meal. I was hungry and ate mine but have had better. We are not from Texas and breakfast is a big part of our day and it's disappointing when it's not what you expected. read more

This place is pretty awesome. Staff very friendly. The food was really good, and lots of it. This is a hidden jewel that is not so hidden. We drove by and saw people waiting to go in. To us that is a sign of a good place. Definitely is in this case.. you really should go by for brunch. read more

My brother took me here this morning for breakfast said it's been around a long time. It looked like some place you went with your grandparents. It was wonderful clean and all the staff wearing gloves and mask. And the place was full and I know why the food was fantastic. Our coffee was always full the waitress Maria was really on the ball. We didn't want for anything all the staff was working together and very friendly. My breakfast was really good a real gem for the people of Ft Worth. read more

Somewhat unassuming on the outside, but the long line to get in should tell you how good the food is. But don't be scared of the wait. It was super quick, and we were seated and ordering food. Long time customer but I don't go much anymore. Went yesterday so I could review the place. Same ole thing, nothing changed. Same food. Anyways, food was ok. Service good, they sat me in open table next to another open table with a couple. I could actually stretch my arms and touch him to my left, that close. Their conversation was all I heard so I stayed on my phone. Ask for a booth and away from all the noise. Lunch and dinner - lots of kids or babies too. Ordered 2 egg platter but needed to order hash browns on the side and you know sides always a lot like $2-$2.50 even for toast or a pancake. Nothing special about taste, average Anyways, it's pretty good, close to home but don't go much. I don't know when I'll be back. Needs some updated menus and other improvements but some people are just loyal no matter what. read more

Went to have late lunch for my sister's yesterday, everything was ok, service was great, as I was paying the bill I dropped my cell phone and as my sister is picking it up for me a lady next to us is looking at us and when I looked at her and smiled she looked at me and rolled her eyes. Turns out that that was the manager. They need to get better management or train them right and if they dnt like people they should be working at a busyness like that. I have been going there for years and Everyone has always been nice. I guess the new employees they hired dnt like other people. read more

Poor experience overall! Fake politeness of the people working there. Acted extremely cheerful then went on as if we were a huge problem. Atmosphere was like they went to AT HOME and bought a bunch of signs. Several were repeated in the store. Very COLD atmosphere - no character! Food was terrible! Afraid the quality has significantly slipped since the manager/owner died. It's the little things, lunched there today and the mashed potatoes were full of uncooked bits, just no excuse for that after years in business you have to know low long to cook potatoes. But I have decided it would be West Side Cafe. Why? Because the have soup, salad, great rolls and cornbread, chicken fried steak, chicken-n-dumplings, great veggies, great pies etc. it's TOTAL home cooking! Great comfort good. Very friendly service. You can be driving a shiny black Mercedes or a beat-up pick up pick up truck. You can have a designer purse or elastic polyester pants. You can be 4 or 104. This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. Way better Buy than any chain restaurant. All the staff and even the customers are very nice. Everything tastes very fresh. Everything is so delicious. The eggs are beautiful. Love the bacon. It's mostly meat, not just fat. And crispy. Pancakes are huge. And very affordable.
