Very nice little place on the north side of the island. I've been coming to Mt. Desert island for 35 years since I was a little kid and I do remember some pretty bad pizza even when I was a kid. This place is not that at all. We got the Greek salad and a sausage and pepper pizza. Dough was thin but with a good chew and crisp. Salad was simple and fresh. Being from NJ I've had my fair share of really great ny and nj pizza, which some consider the best in the country. West Eden can easily play with the big boys when it comes to pies. Also, I'm always a fan of supporting a small family business, which I am as well and this business is run by a very nice local family. We will be back!!

We got the Big Mac pizza and a meatball sub, both were amazing! The dough and crust on the pizza were so good and the perfect texture. They offer a decent beer selection as well

Once piece missing Harmony's Four cheese

Small pizza joint with a small parking lot. There are a few tables outside and none inside. We ordered ahead, and the pizza was ready when we got there. We had the McDowell's Big Mac Pizza and the Harmony's Four cheese. The crust on the pizza was thin on the bottom and thick around the edges. I prefer thin, but that's just me. They could have been more liberal with the meat on the Big Mac. The lettuce on the Big Mac was limp and soggy in the 20 minutes it took us to get home. Not surprising just a heads up if you order this to go. Maybe they could put the lettuce on the side. The cheese heads enjoyed the Harmony's. It satisfied the hungry beasts within.

Naturally, had a huge chip on my shoulder about the quality of the food, but was tired of seafood deep fried or drowned in mayo. The place was a godsend. Place was busy, but the staff rolled with the punches and communicated well so we were never wondering or wanting. They had live music which appeared to be locals having a ball. Usually not a fan of beer joints trying to pass themselves off as gastro-destinations, but these guys nailed it on all cylinders. Jalapenos in the beans was a big surprise and a trick we're taking back home with us. Don't miss this place!

When we walked in, the hostess let us know that they were short staffed but we could be seated. We were very understanding and could see that it was literally just her and one other person serving 3-4 different large seating areas. It was crazy for them but they made it work and got those tables flipped quickly without rushing anyone. We decided to sit inside the covered patio area because it was cold and it was so cute! The lighting and decor was a great vibe. It didn't take long for our server to come take our drink order. We ordered a blueberry soda (my very first Maine blueberry item!!!) and a beer. The blueberry soda was INCREDIBLE!!!!! I am so upset that we didn't order a 6 pack to take back to the AirBnb and I'm still kicking myself. The beer was also really good which I'm sure has to do with the fact that this Mainely Meat location is attached to Atlantic Brewing who also make my soda. It's a match made in heaven. For food, I ordered the sausage meal with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered a bowl which usually comes with pulled pork, beans and coleslaw but she subbed the coleslaw for more cornbread. Both of them were reallyyyyyy good. We took home less than half of it just because we were stuffed. The coleslaw was amazingly balanced. It wasn't sweet and didn't go too hard on the mayo and the beans were equally incredible. They had chunks of meat in them, only adding to the smokiness. 10/10, we would absolutely be back!!

Island Take Out is an unassuming place tucked behind a gas station in Bar Harbor. As the name implies, it's geared mostly for food to-go, but they do have some covered picnic tables. We sat there, and they even brought the food out to us with utensils. The hospitality here was so friendly. The staff was very nice, the service was fairly quick, and the food came out fast. They have a decent sized menu, and I was surprised to see offerings like rum cake. We ended up ordering the lobster mac and cheese and the jerk chicken. I was very happy with the portion size, they definitely did not skimp on the amount of lobster they put on the mac and cheese, and the jerk chicken was also plenty of food. While it's certainly not cheap, I'd say the cost is competitive for what I'd say is a pricier town. The food was tasty (it had a lot of taste), but I will say that it did not taste like authentic Caribbean food to me. It was more like American BBQ style. That being said, I'd recommend giving this hidden gem a consideration if you're in the area.

The lobster was delicious and the mussels were some of the freshest we had. Absolute 10/10 of a meal. Quality and price can't be beat - good: lobster roll. It's good. But not as good as dishes above. The bread for the hot roll doesn't add to the lobster which is by far the star of the show. I understood that BHF has a great Farm Market. BHF delivered on that and more. I arrived 10 minutes before BHF opened its gate at 9 am. By 9, five different cars had parked nearby so they could have pick of the Market. The customers mostly seemed like local Mainers, but there were some folks taking pics as well. After I parked, I scurried to the Market and didn't notice the surrounding area yet. The produce looked beautiful with its purples, greens, oranges, reds, yellows and dark blues. I bought fresh wild Maine blueberries, cucumbers, carrots, a multi-colored bell pepper, yellow-orange heirloom tomatoes, an eggplant and mixed salad greens. The blueberries were delicious. I made a great dinner salad with the non-eggplant veggies. I'll grill the eggplant tomorrow. I bought a few other local products. A baguette that was terrific with a local blue cheese I also bought from BHF. Granola I haven't tried yet. And a blueberry pie made by "Gayle Arnold Tucker". I don't know who that is, but in my mind she's a 5th Generation local pie legend. The crust was to-die-for and the blueberry filling had great flavor and consistency. BHF also sold things such as milk, eggs, honey, kimchi, jarred products and beverages. It was a terrific-looking farm Market with great stuff. After my purchases, I explored the grounds. There was a green house with row after row of farm fresh and fragrant garlic and things like starter vegetables. Picnic tables. Fruit trees. And my favorite thing of all - rows of gorgeous wild flowers that were a big draw for bees and . . . the most monarch butterflies I've ever seen in one naturally occurring place. I don't even know how many there were. I saw five at a time when I was looking up. I spent about 15 minutes taking butterfly photos and got some awesome pics. I limited myself to one in the Yelp photos I posted. The flower photo opportunities are also outstanding. I'll put my BHF pics up against my Acadia pics any day. If you like exploring Farmers Markets and/or great photo opps, I guarantee you'll enjoy Beech Hill Farms, at least in August. Five Stars
