A damn good pizza shop that has an almost vintage, late 70s, early 1980s decor. In an area of Ellsworth/Bar Harbor otherwise known for its craft IPA's, lobster rolls, and a dizzying plethora of seafood salad platters, Finelli does itself justice. Even on a Sunday night, they can do a brisk business & can sling it with the best. Their pizza comes with its sauce done circularly. And their half size meatball grinder should get a Silver Slugger award for its impressive enough portion size. Wow - it was good. Check out the retro arcade in the back, where $0.50 might get you a new high score on Defender, Frogger, Donkey Kong, or a half dozen other video games...all while Def Leppard's "Too Late For Love" might just be blaring overhead in the background. Here's to 1983, Pyromania, and Finelli. Thank you Maddy, we highly recommend this place.

I had a pepperoni slice, a mushroom onion slice, and a tomato pesto slice, all were very good. Crust was that perfect level of crispy and the cheese was slightly gooey. We walked over from the main strip of downtown and loved the vibe as soon as we arrived. Walking down the stairs to get to the brewery versus the glass blowing shop was so cute. With apples on the ground from the apple trees, it couldn't be more "Maine". When walking in, you order at the bar for both food and drink and then there is a booth/trailer out back where the food comes out. The inside is set up for open mic night and then outside they have a full stage where they host live music. There is plenty of seating outside at the picnic tables as well. We ordered a couple beers, the Margherita pizza, the potato chips, and the Carrot Top salad. I cannot tell you howwwwwwwww amazing the salad was!! I have never had a salad like this and I ate every last bite. The roasted carrots were so good, combined with the crispy onions and the dressing; it was heaven. The chips were incredible and the dip that comes with it just elevates it that much more. I believe it was a pickle dip of some sort? I can't remember specifically, just that I needed a vat of it. Then the pizza?! We couldn't finish it but man did we want to! Add all this tasty food to a beautiful backdrop and we were the happiest little foodies in Maine. Hands down best stop in Ellsworth!

It was then that I discovered that they made pizza in one of those wood-fired, outside stone ovens. They are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons so it took me 2 years to get there but I finally made it. It is a farm, a goat farm, where you can buy goat cheese, goat pepperoni (goateroni), and buy and eat a pizza. There were 5 pizzas on the menu. They are not cheap ($13 for a pizza the size of a paper dinner plate) but they are delicious! We were really hungry so we planned to eat a pizza each but then we ordered a third and all of them were worth it. See my picture of the chalkboard menu. We ordered # 2,3, and 4. I have to say that the one with the caramelized onions was the best, probably because of the bite of the goat and feta cheeses. Watch the pizzas cook. It takes about 2 minutes. There is a long, high table to eat at or some Adirondack chairs to sit at eat under cover in case of rain or too much sun. However, this did not work well for my wheelchair companion so we just ate in the car. I also took home a chunk of cheese. Unfortunately, the pizza maker did not know what it tasted like but he was honest about it. It was delicious. Worth the trip if you like Neopolitan pizza with the thin and ever so slightly charred crust. Otherwise, eat elsewhere.

My kids…read morereally wanted pizza, and it was a Monday night (and not a busy weekend), so we wanted to check it out. The food was okay but the service was horrible. We waited over an hour for a large half-pepperoni, half-cheese pizza. The burger and fries we ordered came out in about 30 minutes, but the waitress bringing out the burger said the pizza was coming. Twenty minutes later we inquired again, only to be told they were backed up. We got that message from the 50-minute wait, but when people who ordered pizza after us, received their pizza before we did, we knew this place had issues. When the lady finally brought out the pizza, she was like, "sorry," but big deal, by then the damage was already done. They made no efforts to make it up to us, especially considering we had waited so long. Very disappointing. They really didn't care about our two han-gry (hungry and angry) kids who really wanted to eat that pizza. The restaurant had a fairly steady flow of customers ordering, but it was not crowded or overwhelming. People enjoyed food and drinks around their tables and watching the big screen televisions with trivia and sports updates. Nobody was at the pool table. After waiting so long, my son was trying to be optimistic and said we should play some pool, since no one was playing. Then he saw the big sign that said only 18-year-olds and older, no exceptions! Needless to say, we were sorely disappointed with this experience. For a Monday night, where the pace was not very busy or unmanageable, this should not have been that hard to make a pizza in less than an hour. This was ridiculous. As a result, I do not recommend this place, especially if you have kids. Check out the other pizza places in town and save yourself a lot of time and frustration ... or order your dinner at lunchtime.
