Small Bbq Chicken - Thin Crust Pizza
    JoAnne K.

I've had Celiac for 15 years, so I've tried my share of gluten free pizzas. We live in CT but come to Ellsworth to visit a couple times a year. Pats Pizza in Ellsworth has the best GF pizza. Hands down. My daughter and I went to Pats on. Wednesday night and it was packed. We got the last booth and our waitress came by right away. We started with the GF Gallic bread with cheese. It's made on the GF pizza crust so it looks like a cheese pizza without the red sauce. It was cheesy and delicious. We both had small Garden salads The salads are nothing exciting, but I always enjoy them. I had the GF BBQ pizza. It was well cooked, full to the edges with chicken and cheese. Sooo good. My daughter had a small BBQ pizza, not gluten-free. Hers was excellent as well.

Let's start with how fast we were approached by our server. Got our drinks and order taken. It was ALL DOWNHILL FROM THERE. 50 min later we seek out our server to get our order to go. My friends are locals, I needed to get on the road home. DO YOU SEE THE BILL?! Holy hell. First, if the server asks if you want chips, tots or fries with your sandwich that was ordered...one would think it comes with it. NOPE. Extra charge. WASNT TOLD. My friend orders a salad, extra charge for type of lettuce, THEY CHARGED TO CHOP IT how else is she supposed to eat it?! Not told! My pizza was cold like it had been sitting around for a while. Shady shady practices. I'll plan to visit my friends again but this establishment will never get my business again, on top of the locals they lost‍

We visited here and the service was great. We ordered the large chefs salad and the all meat pizza. Both were great. I would certainly recommend that you visit this business. The interior had a large amount of seating.

This was the smallest and most greasy pizza I've ever had. We decided to try this place because they have multiple locations and are supposed to be a Maine staple. My mom and I went on a Sunday afternoon. The server was lovely. Friendly and attentive. The options for pizza were small and large. We opted for a small. Then we saw the server bring out 2 pizzas for a table nearby. The small was the size of a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza (remember those from the 90's?!), and the large was the size of a regular large pizza at any pizza place. There was $4 difference between the sizes. I hadn't seen a personal pizza on the menu... A few minutes later we received our pizza and it was in fact the size of a personal pizza. Like it was SO small! We had to laugh because it was ridiculous. On to the actual pie... it was so greasy. The cheese was greasy. The dough was greasy. It was literally dripping off the pizza. The taste of the pizza was...greasy. I don't know how else to explain it. I felt yucky eating it. But we were hungry and there, so we did our best to eat enough to not be hungry, but not so much that we would actually get sick. I should mention that I love Greek style pizza, which is buttery and a bit greasy. It's my favorite. But I also love good NY pizza, and wood fired as well. I love deep dish Chicago as well- I love most pizza! So the fact that I could barely get this down really says something. It was bad. Please see pics for the pizza we had and also the smallest slice I have ever seen in my life! I gave this 2 stars because the service was very good.

When I think of pizza, I immediately think of Pats. This restaurant is associated with the famous, in Maine!, Pats Pizza in Orono. However each restaurant is locally owned. This was my first visit to the Ellsworth location and it didn't disappoint. Very nice greeting upon entering the dining room and we were quickly seated in a booth. Server was right over for a drink order. The vibe of the place is old school pizza place. Very comfortable, well worn with many locals of all ages meeting friends for lunch. The pizzas are designed to be personal so everyone gets their own pie. The sauce is perfect, not too sweet, not too tomato'y. I had the meatball sub and it was very good. My sister loves the Gluten Free pizzas, she can't wait to get to Pats after her drive from CT. Sometimes I wonder if she is coming to see me or is she really coming to Maine for the pizza?

Poor quality food, went for lunch on the way home from Arcadia National Park. I got a sub, should have known better. Seemed like all locals. Sub was 2 slices of ham & cheese & a couple slices of tomato. Yuck! Find someplace else!

Pizza was undercooked. A lot. I'm from NY, so perhaps biased with respect to pizza, but this stuff wasn't very good.

I loved how all of the bartenders and servers seemed to pitch in and help out. There was never the feeling like anyone was focused on just their job. They were all focused on making sure the patrons had what they needed. I was here on a Tuesday evening with my husband and 2 kids, 6 and 10. They don't print a kids menu but readily offer options of burgers, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, pasta with marinara, and pasta with butter and parmesan. My kids had mac and cheese and buttered pasta, which with homemade rigatoni noodles, we packed the leftovers. For cocktails, we had The Balcony is Closed, a delightful gin and lemon cocktail but the honey beer syrup balances it and the chili oil gives it a kick of a finish. I have gin cocktails wherever I go, and I've traveled and eaten far and wide. This is one of my top 3 most memorable gin drinks. We also tried The Assault Continues, smoky and earthy; not my favorite but for my smoky scotch loving husband, it hit the spot. Of course, we had to try the tuna nachos. I feel like so many restaurants try to do tuna nachos and it's been there, done that. But you haven't had THESE tuna nachos. They're spectacular. The ingredients on the menu speak for themselves but they finally got the ratio and presentation just right. It's a work of art. The caprese was also delicious, the stracciatella and pistachios playing nicely off each other. Dinners were rigatoni with short rib, and the halibut. The rigatoni was delicious. The halibut was out of this world. Perfect sear, perfectly cooked halibut in a corn cream sauce or nage, the summer succotash, fresh corn, crisp bacon, salty caviar. I really proverbially licked the plate with my fork. It was special and incredibly well executed. Not to mention the blueberry pie bar and carrot cake were also delicious. Both disappeared in a matter of seconds. We didn't have to fight for or pay through the nose for parking in downtown Bar Harbor for this wonderful dinner. Get the free parking in several lots in town. The city hall parking lot is directly behind the restaurant building. If you like to eat on a budget, this spot may not be for you, but if you enjoy great food and cocktails, I really think the prices are comparable to what you'd pay in other more populated areas. The food is a diamond in the rough.

The appetizers were excellent!…read more We ordered mussels which were tasty and generous, could have been is own meal. If it was served with crusty bread instead of a thick slice of toasted bread, it would have been perfect. The nachos were unique and delicious with generous toppings and ahi tuna... also could have been a meal by itself... chef's kiss to those two items! Our entrees were a dish called Gnudi- which if you don't know what they are(we didn't and when we looked it up, it said it is similar to gnocchi- IT ISN'T!!!) ask before you order, if you've never had it, it's very unique and we didn't care for it at all... there was no recourse given by the restaurant... make sure you know what it is!! Our other entree was rigatoni that was topped with ricotta and short rib sauce, shredded cheese... it was tasty, but very pricey for a bowl of pasta... To make a reservation, you need to give a credit card and if you don't show up, your card is charged $25 per person. The service was friendly until we didn't like the Gnudi... then it was a little weird... It was fine, but not exceptional... Cold bottles of water are given to the table and refreshed as necessary. The restroom is not kept up, could use shine attention, a little elbow grease to clean it. They are on Facebook and offer specials on their burgers.

A damn good pizza shop that has an almost vintage, late 70s, early 1980s decor. In an area of Ellsworth/Bar Harbor otherwise known for its craft IPA's, lobster rolls, and a dizzying plethora of seafood salad platters, Finelli does itself justice. Even on a Sunday night, they can do a brisk business & can sling it with the best. Their pizza comes with its sauce done circularly.
