Very happy bubbly barkeep named, Elaine afforded me a refreshing Allagash wheat ale alongside a shot of Jameson to frame my pizza selection. I chose the Pat's combo big "9 inch". I like the salami, pepperoni, shroom, and black olive combo. Nice lunchtime "sudzzy yum-yum time" breakfast at 1250! If you like thin crust you will like Pat's. Me I don't like pizza that flops when I pick it up to take a bite. We ordered the Pat's Combo and it was beyond greasy. The lady that seated us was rude and acted as if she hated her job. She wasn't much better when taking our money. The only bright spot was Alexa our server. She was very attentive and super sweet. I've had Celiac for 15 years, so I've tried my share of gluten free pizzas. We live in CT but come to Ellsworth to visit a couple times a year. Pats Pizza in Ellsworth has the best GF pizza. Hands down. My daughter and I went to Pats on. Wednesday night and it was packed. We got the last booth and our waitress came by right away. We started with the GF Gallic bread with cheese. It's made on the GF pizza crust so it looks like a cheese pizza without the red sauce. It was cheesy and delicious. We both had small Garden salads The salads are nothing exciting, but I always enjoy them. I had the GF BBQ pizza. It was well cooked, full to the edges with chicken and cheese. Sooo good. We ordered a double Italian it was the worst Italian we ever had. I asked for no onions and it came without but when you pay for an upgraded sub you would expect more than 3 slices of meat and a sliver of cheese. Where was the lettuce hmmm must of ran out for our sub. Overall the worst. Might wanna check out how a real sub is made check out Pennsylvania's subs then you'll understand. read more

Let's start with how fast we were approached by our server. Got our drinks and order taken. It was ALL DOWNHILL FROM THERE. 50 min later we seek out our server to get our order to go. My friends are locals, I needed to get on the road home. DO YOU SEE THE BILL?! Holy hell. First, if the server asks if you want chips, tots or fries with your sandwich that was ordered...one would think it comes with it. NOPE. Extra charge. WASNT TOLD. My friend orders a salad, extra charge for type of lettuce, THEY CHARGED TO CHOP IT how else is she supposed to eat it?! Not told! My pizza was cold like it had been sitting around for a while. This was the smallest and most greasy pizza I've ever had. We decided to try this place because they have multiple locations and are supposed to be a Maine staple. My mom and I went on a Sunday afternoon. The server was lovely. Friendly and attentive. The options for pizza were small and large. We opted for a small. Then we saw the server bring out 2 pizzas for a table nearby. The small was the size of a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza (remember those from the 90's?!), and the large was the size of a regular large pizza at any pizza place. There was $4 difference between the sizes. I hadn't seen a personal pizza on the menu... A few minutes later we received our pizza and it was in fact the size of a personal pizza. Like it was SO small! We had to laugh because it was ridiculous. On to the actual pie... it was so greasy. The cheese was greasy. The dough was greasy. It was literally dripping off the pizza. The taste of the pizza was...greasy. I don't know how else to explain it. I felt yucky eating it. But we were hungry and there, so we did our best to eat enough to not be hungry, but not so much that we would actually get sick. I should mention that I love Greek style pizza, which is buttery and a bit greasy. It's my favorite. But I also love good NY pizza, and wood fired as well. I love deep dish Chicago as well- I love most pizza! So the fact that I could barely get this down really says something. It was bad. When I think of pizza, I immediately think of Pats. This restaurant is associated with the famous, in Maine!, Pats Pizza in Orono. However each restaurant is locally owned. This was my first visit to the Ellsworth location and it didn't disappoint. Very nice greeting upon entering the dining room and we were quickly seated in a booth. Server was right over for a drink order. The vibe of the place is old school pizza place. Very comfortable, well worn with many locals of all ages meeting friends for lunch. The pizzas are designed to be personal so everyone gets their own pie. The sauce is perfect, not too sweet, not too tomato'y. I had the meatball sub and it was very good. My sister loves the Gluten Free pizzas, she can't wait to get to Pats after her drive from CT. Sometimes I wonder if she is coming to see me or is she really coming to Maine for the pizza? read more

We were a party of 6 and there were several other large parties around us. Service was fairly quick for how many people in the restaurant. We got the loaded meat pizza. There definitely was plenty of meat and the double crust was not too much and not too little. The pizza had a really good flavor to it. My niece got the broccoli and chicken Alfredo and she loved it. Very large portion, that could have been divided. My son got the club sandwich. It also was very large. Our waitress was very nice and she gave us some really good suggestions for hikes, shopping and other places in Bar Harbor to eat. read more

Midweek pizza was thought to be the best option for dinner. Have always sat in the booths in the bar area, as cozier. However, unbelievably loud patrons (4-5 guys and gals) sitting at the bar, swearing and talking so loudly that no one else at the nearby tables could hear themselves think, let alone hold any kind of conversation with members of their own party. Several patrons from various tables exchanging glances, commiserating at how loud, unpleasant, selfish and rude the bar patrons were being. Bearded male bartender certainly made no attempts to bring their deafening voices down to even a dull roar. He was fully engaged with them. Great for tenders to be amiable with patrons, but his failure to get these people to lower their volume was noticed by the rest of us in the surrounding booths. Not a great experience. Pizzas were very good, as always, but had obviously been sitting for a while, as they were lukewarm, at best. $6.00 measly small garden salad was pathetic, with wilted iceberg lettuce. Come on Pat's ~ do better! Wait service was certainly friendly, but the waitress had to practically yell to be heard and she wasn't very attentive. We frequent Pat's in Orono and Ellsworth and the later is sorely lacking lately, especially with this most recent visit. We know you're capable of providing a better experience in all of the areas that one looks for in an old haunt like Pat's, but this was not worth the price, loudness, rudeness, inattentiveness, lukewarm pizza. Please do better and stop thinking you can ride on your laurels! read more

Years ago, we visited Connecticut and tried Pepe's pizza. There was also a Pat's there but we didn't get a chance to try it then. So here we are in Maine trying Pat's pizza. It's good but not the best pizza in the world like Pepe's. We had broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes and sweet sausage. The crust was thin but not crispy like a coal fired oven. Had to try this place out as I love pizza & this is known as the best pizza chain in ME. I needed a break from all the seafood we'd had and this was just right. Ordered carry out & it was done quickly! I'm simple so I just got a large cheese pizza. Nothing fancy, thinner crust (which I thoroughly enjoyed) & simple flavor. I also loved how this place had a drive-thru for takeout orders, making it convenient so you don't have to go inside. And even if you do order inside you are still able to pick it up in the drive-thru. Nothing special or overtop with this pizza but sometimes that's not a bad thing. My 2-year-old enjoyed it as well & he's a very picky eater. Clean carry out area & they have treats like brownies for purchase & free lollipops for kids. In conclusion, The staff at this pizza place was truly disappointing. They displayed a lack of attentiveness and seemed disinterested in providing good customer service. I have never seen so many pizza joints as I did in Maine. There was one corner with at least 3 pizza places! All this pizza put us in the mood for a nice pie. One day coming back from running some errands we just happen to come across Pat's pizza and decided to stop in for lunch. Honestly I did not have high hope, but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the veggie pizza and the pizza was... good. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but it was a solid pie. Nice thin crust, ton of topping, good ratio of cheese sauce topping and it didn't fall apart when eating it. That's a winner in my book. Overall it hit the spot and I would eat it again. read more

Went to this place for lunch with my mother in law. Our waitress was on her game. Attentive and nice. The food was really good. Hard pressed to find a good pizza where I live and we were heading past this place on our way out. She had the haddock chowdah which she said was excellent. Also a Greek salad. I ordered a 9" thin crust pizza with mushrooms, (barely there) spinach and bacon and it was delicious. I loved having an option for fresh or canned mushrooms on my pizza. Their prices are a little high for the pizza toppings ($1.45 for spinach, $1.20 for bacon and .95 for mushrooms... my opinion). My $6.99 pizza, when all is said and done, was close to $11.00. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in Ellsworth. read more

We stopped here totally spontaneously and loved it! Very friendly and great pizza with lots of topping choices. Our 5 y.o. Says "I think it should get more points than 3.5, it should get 300! As tourist we were seeking something that wasn't lobster and Pat's Pizza fit the bill. Their All meat pizza was perfect, loved the double crust, I'm giving them 5 stars just for this pizza. No it's not New York style or Chcago style or Detroit (Sicilian) nor does it pretend to be, it's just a solid American pizza with a perfect fresh made crust, not too thick to be overbearing, perfect amount of cheese and sauce, and perfect compliment of meats. Especially loved the chunks of sausage they used. Their hoagie was solid, as was their burger. But be aware that though the toppings are free, (such as mushrooms and onions) they're simply picked off the salad bar and put on raw so don't expect grilled mushrooms and onions for free! I've only been once and unfortunately probably won't ever be back this way again, but if we do we'll be back, their all meat pizza is worthy of 5 stars. read more
