Location they couldn't make

Edit for response We do not live on a narrow street we have semi delivery all the time. You offered no solution but to pick up. I do t have a truck hence why I paid for delivery. Do you not have google maps ? I had paid laborers waiting and no call u tip end of drop off window. Worst experience terrible customer service. Could not deliver after taking my money and scheduling a time and then driver couldn't drive in Laguna when we live in and easy location for delivery. No solutions offered just no thought about what the customer is going through and plans made time wasted

I had a good experience ordering sod from West Coast Turf in the Fall of 2021. I moved into my house in January and there was 500 or so square feet of dirt. There was a long strip next to the driveway that I wanted to turn into a golf practice area and I also wanted to plant grass in the backyard as my dogs were bringing in mud every time it rained. Based on the measurements I calculated I determined that a pallet would be sufficient. Now the big decision was what type. I have always admired the low cut, dense appearance of golf course grass and since most have Bermuda that is what I went with. I was hoping to purchase TifEagle but the price was more than I wanted to pay. I ended up going with Tift94 aka TifSport since the price was reasonable and I can cut it down to a quarter of an inch. The process to place an order online is fairly easy and they follow up with a confirmation. Originally I wanted to pickup, but ended up getting delivery after Araceli was able to accommodate me. The day of delivery went fairly smoothly. The delivery driver unloaded the pallet right where I requested. Even considering the prep I had already done, it took about three hours to lay out all fifty pieces. It's been almost three months and I love my Bermuda. I plan to buy a greens mower to mow twice a week. In conclusion, if you are in need of sod I highly recommend you consider West Coast Turf.

My landscaper went with this company for my sod. He called in the order and gave me the confirmation #. All I had to do was pay for it. I phone called in, paid over the phone, and a delivery date was set a few days out. All went smooth like butter. My landscaper laid the sod down after installing a sprinkler system. The grass looks amazing.

Bandera Bermuda the day after installing in University Heights, San Diego, CA.

Overall very good experience with this company. I went to the San Marcos facility to look at their display of about 8 different sods and pick up the sample piece I ordered. I chose the Bandera Bermuda based on my prior research. I wanted grass that would tolerate some shade and full sun, be less thirsty, and recover from raccoons tearing it up. Selena was my first contact person and she did a good job answering my questions on the phone and in person. My sample piece was only 7.8 ft2 not the 10 ft2 I was told by Selena. I called about this 2 or 3 times. No one answered and I couldn't leave a voicemail. When I did get through, Luis (?) said he would look into it. The pieces I ended up receiving were 2' x 5' as originally told. I ordered 850 ft2 to be delivered the next Friday. I thought the price of sod and delivery fee were reasonable. I was told I would receive a call the night before to pinpoint delivery time. That call didn't happen, so I called the next morning and was told it would come between 10 and noon. It came around 9:30am. Excellent. Driver was courteous and was able to use the forklift to get the pallets where I wanted them. Sod came drier than I expected, but I'm not an expert. It was in very sandy soil. I laid it immediately and watered thoroughly. It is now the next day, a little premature, so I hope the grass takes. If the manager reads this, I hope they consider looking into their phone system and the ability of people to leave messages. I do recommend this company.

Expected a delivery today, already paid for it several days ago. Been sitting around with my crew waiting and they still haven't shown up. Their office said they accepted calls until noon today, and when I called before noon, the number the recording said they closed at 10:30 AM. That's not much help. Very disappointed in West Coast Turf, because they had really good reviews. I ordered through Grangettos. I hope they make it right somehow. Update: WCT called right away and are trying to make it right. Re-delivery next week. Upgrading to 3 stars for now. Hopefully to 5 stars next Saturday. Update 2: After the mishap last week, WCT redeemed themselves big time. They delivered beautiful tall fescue first thing this morning, as promised!

Absolutely DO NOT buy from this company!!! My husband and I renovate houses and put in new sod all the time. We divided to try out west coast turf for our own lawn and it is horrible. 90% of the grass is weeds and it arrived a quarter dead. We put it in thinking if we watered it enough it would come back as grass is resilient. Some of it did come back but because of the massive amount of weeds it it we have to completely re sod again. When calling to review the issue with the company they said to email pictures. I sent an email and didn't hear anything for a week. After a week I called and they said they didn't receive the email. I finally got through to Scott and he basically told us the weeds were in our soil already, even though we did not have them in our old sod. Then he told us that he didn't believe the grass was partially dead when we received it because we didn't call him then. Completely rude and shitty. NEVER again will I use this crappy sod.

Ordered on Thursday, beautiful lawn by Monday! I could not be happier. West Coast Turf made getting the lawn of our dreams so easy. It was so easy to order online, I forgot to include fertilizer so I had to call and they added it on without issue-and still got the 20% off. The delivery driver Gabriel was able to deliver right where requested, and we have kind of an awkward area that it needed to be delivered. There were no issues at all. We went with the West Coaster Tall Fescue. Love it!!

Noe Pablo was the most thorough in messaging through the Yelp app, so my husband and I chose him. I had 2 medium-sized fruit trees I needed to transfer from my parent's home in Southeast San Diego to mine in North County. I took pictures and he gave us a very reasonable price. We also decided to also add another service to take out our palm tree. There were a couple of mishaps such as: The day he was scheduled to take out the palm tree, he was a no-show and my husband had to call him an hour after he was supposed to arrive. Then, the day after that incident, was the fruit tree transfer. He and his team forgot to bring their dolly. Thank goodness my Dad had one so they borrowed it, but now we have the burden in taking it back. Despite these mishaps, Noe was very knowledgeable and professional in his mannerisms. The day of the fruit tree transfer, he and his team arrived in a timely manner, was efficient and did a great job overall. We were very pleased and will definitely use him again if we have another project.

Some things I wish I knew then that I know now might help others when planning their yards. Yes, Smart Landscape does a lovely job. Here's what would have made my upkeep a lot easier. 1. Extra protection ground cover to eliminate weeds. Some yards get no weeds because a super heavy cover has been used. I've spent countless hours pulling weeds since yards were done. 2. Go over what plants are going to be used. If I'd done that, I would've saved money and work to remove those that had needles that made it difficult/dangerous to remove. 3. If the designer had visited front yard, he would have seen the slight slope and the DG pathway would not have been a logical design choice. Rain washes it away and I'll have to eventually figure out a way to close up that space. 4. At that time, I didn't meet with the designer. I should have. Although it's a lovely design, I would have pointed out a change or two I'd have preferred. 5. Gray DG is not readily available and it has been difficult to keep the pathway refreshed. Someone said that he was going to provide it, but never did. Overall, I am glad I hired Smart Landscape. UPDATE: I needed to come back to add another star after carefully considering how wonderful Danny and his team are to work with. I had met with no fewer than nine landscape companies before Smart Landscape and they were nightmares for various reasons. Danny is wonderful to work with and makes sure the customer is happy.

Some companies wanted to do the hardscape only, others just plants. After meeting several landscapers and paver companies, I chose Danny and Smart Landscape, in part because they would take care of EVERYTHING from start to finish--concrete and tree removal, paver installation, irrigation, plants, painting, and lighting. Their price wasn't the lowest (or the highest), but I feel I got a lot of value for the money. Danny was kind and very professional throughout the job. He included in the project price my meeting with one of their designers, who made recommendations and helped me visualize what I wanted, and also helped with the selection of plants. Q--the project manager--was wonderful to work with, as well as the guys on the crew. I couldn't be happier with the result! I finally have the space I've been wanting for years, but didn't know how to get there. Smart Landscape made it happen!

I've had issues in the past with bids for other projects that I assumed included the little details but didn't and then I had to pay extra. Michael's bid included every detail in writing that you would assume would be a part of a new lawn job and it was very reasonable. He also showed up on time for the initial appointment! His crew was great! Their work was very detailed and clean. The job was done within three days and all of the work area, including the driveway, was cleaned up. They even noted my falling-apart fence gate so Michael gave me a very reasonable quote and they did a great job fixing it for me. There were a lot of details for after-care and I've texted Michael multiple times to confirm. He texts back quickly and I never get the impression he's annoyed (I've sent a lot of texts!). I almost wish I had more yard renovations so that I could hire him again! I did discuss a whole-yard mulch job and will absolutely hire Michael when I'm ready for that. During our initial consultation, Michael provided excellent cost-saving suggestions that we ultimately implemented, helping us stay within budget without sacrificing quality. Andrew H. came to my property on August 13, 2025, to give me a quote for installing pavers throughout my backyard. I explained very clearly that my number one requirement was correcting the slope so that rainwater would no longer flow toward my home. This was confirmed as a priority after multiple inspections from roof gutter companies and landscapers. I was scheduled to be out of town for five weeks, and I initially planned to wait until I got back. But Andrew assured me multiple times that they regularly work while homeowners are away, that everything would be monitored, and that I would return to a finished project done correctly in less than a week. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to let the project begin while I was gone. That decision turned into a nightmare. Project Problems From Day 1: Before work even began, I asked them to cover certain areas to prevent damage during concrete removal. 9/9/25: - Their vendor dropped pallets of pavers directly in front of my garage, completely blocking access. - The crew then said their wheelbarrows couldn't fit through the side gate because of how the AC unit was positioned. Andrew attempted to charge me $1,000 to move the AC the next day or $500 to do it on Saturday. - Andrew then insisted they could access the yard through my garage instead. I told him that was impossible due to the size of the wheelbarrows and the narrow door. He argued it would work and scheduled the job for September 13. Because of all this, I had to end my trip early, driving back from Northern California with my dogs on short notice. 9/12/25: When I checked my cameras, I saw the workers using the same wheelbarrows they said wouldn't fit and they did use the side gate anyway. When I got home, I saw: - My side gate pulled apart - My AC unit pushed up against the wall and held by a large rock None of this was discussed or approved. Andrew, who had been very present during the quote process, was nowhere to be found during the actual work. I ended up dealing with Jose (his manager?) instead. Even the lead worker, Eric, confirmed that the wheelbarrows never would have fit through the garage exactly what I had said from the beginning. And to make things worse, because their pallets blocked my garage, I couldn't have moved my car for 2 weeks. 9/17-18/25: - Rain water flows inside the garage because pavers were installed higher than door step. Their resolution was to put a a small circular drain in front of the door. 9/25/25: They "finished" the job, but the list of issues was long: - The side gate wouldn't open because they installed the pavers too high (they trimmed down the gate to resolve). - Polymeric sand was not installed correctly: it was patchy, missing in several areas. - My sliding door track was damaged from concrete debris and sand, even though I repeatedly asked them to cover it. - Worst of all: the paver grade was installed HIGHER than the threshold of my garage side door, exactly what I told them NOT to do. This means water gets trapped and pushed inside my garage; this was the entire problem I hired them to fix. The small drain did not do anything. It rained again from 11/15 - 11/21/25, and the water issues persist to this day. The most important part of the project and the reason I did it at all was not resolved. Andrew keeps mentioning that I need to have rain gutters installed, but I had them before and I know that it was not the issue. I had multiple vendors come out again for sanity check to tell me that gutters won't solve the drainage issue. From the misleading reassurances, to the damage to my property, to the poor workmanship, to the complete lack of accountability, this has been one of the worst contractor experiences I've ever had. I cannot recommend Rock N Block. I trusted them with an important project, and instead I'm left with new problems, unresolved issues, and property damage.
