To my surprise, even the Novocain shots didn't hurt. The staff, including receptionists and surgical assistants, were all polite and professional. Doctor Chheda was very patient and explanatory throughout. I think for me, the really nice part was Doctor Chheda calling me (on a Sunday) just to check up on me and make sure I was still doing fine. I definitely recommend this practice to anyone needing endodontic services. This was a great experience -- start to finish. Priscilla J.

Sure, I have raced Ironman, fought MMA, and routinely bit into Geno's Pizza Rolls straight outta the microwave without letting them cool off. I'm a self-proclaimed beast of a man. But this was different. This was a dreaded ROOT CANAL. The big bopper of dental pain. Drills. Drills galore - all medieval shapes and sizes. More drilling than West Texas and the Middle East combined. There were no puppy dogs & rainbows here folks. This was to be 2-3 hours of clutching the armrests and hoping I didn't scream like a little girl. Am I painting you a pretty picture here? Enter Dr. Roh. OK she seems nice. I scanned her CV - she trained at Columbia. Ivy League - that's impressive. Like Good Will Hunting impressive, right? Anyone's mom would agree that's a fantastic school. Well, I'll be honest between her expertise and the copious amounts of nitrous oxide, the entire procedure was a breeze. 2-3 hours of listening to Enya and this cowboy was drifting off daydreaming and doing interpretive dance in my head. Blissful. I didn't feel a thing. Yes, Dr. Roh has the hands of an angel. Would I recommend root canals? No. Absolutely not. BUT considering I dealt with constant pain and infections for 5 years, and this divine deity of dental Endodontics was able to cure me in a single sitting is miraculous. Call the Vatican. It's a miracle. Dr. Roh is THAT good. Kudos to the entire team at South Austin Microendodontics - y'all are simply amazing.

I had been having tooth pain for a few months after getting a cavity filled, and the dentist recommended I go here. By the time my appointment came around, the pain had mostly gone away, but I wanted them to evaluate it anyway. They did a 3D x-ray, coldness test, and bite stick test... all showed no indication of any issues... and then the doctor said, well, I think you should go ahead and have us do a root canal. How about right now? But there was no indication on any test they did of any issue! He said, well, maybe the nerve died and you'll find out in a few months that the pain is back and there's an infection spreading. But I asked, isn't it possible there's no issue at all? Well, yes, maybe, but I recommend you get the root canal anyway. So right then, I realized the tests they did that I paid $400 for were all a sham. It makes zero difference what they find on the test, they recommend a root canal TO EVERY PATIENT. I left and didn't get the root canal. It's been close to a year now. It turns out there was no issue. They wanted to do a completely unnecessary root canal on me.

I drove from Fredericksburg--a four-hour round trip--leaving my 7-month-old and taking an entire day off. Because he came recommended, I trusted I would be in good hands. I was understandably nervous. I've had root canals before and experienced significant pain afterward, so I communicated that anxiety openly. From the moment Dr. Duggan entered the room, his demeanor was dismissive and arrogant, but I tried to brush it off. As he began administering the numbing injections, my anxiety increased. Before the third injection, I asked to pause for a moment to collect myself. I even tried to lighten the moment by mentioning that I had labored naturally and wasn't sure why I felt so anxious. At that point, he had spent no more than five minutes with me total. His response was shocking. He became visibly frustrated and said, "You're wasting my time. You need to let me do my job or get out of this chair. I know what I'm doing--you don't." I was stunned. No patient--especially one who is anxious and vulnerable--should ever be spoken to this way by a medical professional. I sat up in the chair, in tears. He then made an incredibly condescending and inappropriate comment, saying, "How did you ever labor naturally?" and walked out of the room. I went to the waiting room and broke down. When my husband confronted him, Dr. Duggan denied everything. We left immediately. This was not simply poor bedside manner. It was unprofessional, demeaning, and completely unacceptable--particularly toward a young mother who simply asked for a moment of compassion. For a procedure costing $2,700, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Choose a provider who respects patients, listens, and treats people with basic human decency.
