As I found myself out and about exceptionally early yesterday morning I thought it might be fun to check out somewhere that I had never been to before for breakfast. However, upon the realization that it was JUST before the Atlanta rush-hour and I still needed to make it back to Buckhead, I decided to make a short trip up the street to the new-ish Wendy's that I had heard was serving breakfast. Now, the concept of a Wendy's offering breakfast is totally new to me and I really did not know what to expect. Even more surprising, I had never been to such a new location and was astounded, just from going through the drive-through, to see how modern and up-to-date it seemed to be.
I expected to be a bit confused and slow upon ordering and figured that I might have difficulty in finding the breakfast portion of the menu, seeing it from a distance and figuring out my order quickly enough so that I did not aggravate whomever was taking my order. Wow, I was [very happily] wrong! Luckily, there was no line behind me and the woman on the other end of the speaker very graciously told me to take my time putting together my order and to start talking whenever I was ready. Phew! Secondly, the automated, electronic screens only displayed the items that were currently available, thus allowing for space on the display for the menu and making the print and descriptions large enough for my lackluster eyes to read. Score! I finally decided that I would order a Mornin' Melt Panini and would order a sausage/biscuit platter as a supplement since I was unsure if my initial selection would actually be enough. In addition to the anticipation that I had for this new breakfast feast, Ashley was probably the friendliest and kindest drive-through team member who I have ever encountered and I think half of my excitement to dig into my meal stemmed from her enthusiasm and good-naturedness. I swear, anyone who can be this accommodating and nice at this time of the morning deserves an award!
Though not huge, the panini was larger than I expected and I kind of wish that I had just ordered two. The melted cheeses (asiago and cheddar, I believe), bacon, fresh tomato (which actually tasted like flavorful, fresh tomato!) and fried egg (which was still squidgy and gooey in the center... YAY!) made this grilled composition perfect for a morning wake-me-up. I opened the platter tray when I got home and was a little sad to see that I had only scrambled eggs (these were better than any others I have gotten from a drive-through), a biscuit (again, not bad at all) and fried breakfast potatoes (I really liked these). I figured that the team was still ironing out kinks with the new addition and thought I would shoot as friendly of an email as possible to their location via the Wendy's website to compliment the service and just to let them know that their platters might not be totally mastered yet; I like to know when I am missing things at work and when someone tells me in a friendly and constructive way I oftentimes am quite appreciative. Within around 6 hours of sending the message I had received a response and I definitely look forward to heading back. I may even have to check out the inside, as this looks like the most modernized Wendy's that I have ever seen. I will definitely be back! read more
