Stopped into Bob's Burgers & Brew in Burlington for lunch on our way home from Bellingham…read more I ordered the smash burger with bacon and onion rings. it was great, juicy, and packed with flavor. My dining companion had the mushroom burger with fries; he really enjoyed his burger, though I found the fries to be a bit underseasoned and not served very hot. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the hostess was welcoming when we arrived. We don't make it to Bob's as often since we live in South Seattle, but it's always a dependable stop when we're in the area.

Huge shoutout to the rockstar bartender who made it happen. My husband had casually asked about the game before we headed out to the tulip fields, and sure enough, when we came back and took a seat at the bar, she remembered and got it on for us. MVP! Now, let's talk about the chaos. They were clearly way understaffed the day we visited. One bartender, one host, and a couple of servers seemed to be holding down the entire inside plus two patios. That looked stressful for them. A lot of folks looked frustrated waiting to be seated or served. Pro tip: in situations like this, just head straight for the bar if you can faster service, drinks in hand quicker, and front-row seats to the TVs. The food was honestly solid. I had a steak salad with a side of fries flavor was great, but the steak came out cold. It must've been sitting there for a while and just not delivered. I wasn't about to flag someone down to fix it (that alone looked like a heroic feat), so I just rolled with it. The wait time for food was about 40 minutes, so come here with some patience. That said, I totally get the staffing struggle especially in the hospitality world. With more hands on deck, this place would shine even brighter. It seems to be a favorite for both tourists and locals alike part pit stop, part neighborhood hangout especially if you're staying at the Fairfield Inn or just rolling through. Would we come back? Sure just maybe not at peak chaos hour for dinner.

My fish and chips were really good, and the generous serving of homemade tarter sauce was unique and outstanding, as was the coleslaw. The fish sticks were fluffy and cooked just right, the fries were excellent as well. I can't wait to go back and try some other items on the menu, this is a cool little spot tucked away out in the flats, and now I know the reason why there are always a few cars there when I drive by. The server who helped me was very friendly too.

Now, it's become a regular haunt when it's a nice day and I'm in the mood for some good pub food, a tasty cool beer and, oh, an impeccable view over a picturesque Skagit field towards towering Mt. Baker. This place is just about perfect! The food here ranges from pub favorites like wings and burgers, to fresh oyster shooters, to tacos, salads, and some delish house-smoked barbeque. They're also known for Friday prime rib nights, which I haven't enjoyed yet but it's on my list. The service here is super friendly. I've been three times this summer and one of the bartenders already recognizes me! It can be a little slow getting served on busy nights, so I recommend ordering as soon as you can if you're hungry. Otherwise, just settle back with your beer from their amazing taplist (or a cocktail from their full bar), enjoy the view from their vast outdoor patio, and take it all in before the rainy season returns.

There were some tables and booths. We ordered their house made chili to start and it was delicious and filling. My hubby ordered the Billy's platter. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. The food was delicious and generously sized. I really liked the fresh salsa, guacamole and tortilla chips with the chimi. The staff were all friendly and attentive. It's always nice when they keep your water filled. We took most of our main courses to-go.

Regulars clearly know each other and the staff, which you don't really see much anymore. Refreshing. Service matched that energy -- warm and good throughout. I went with my go-to order, the chicken fried steak. It's not the best I've had -- the steak itself had more of a ground meat texture than a proper cut, which was a little different. But it was enormous and absolutely hit the spot. The biscuit on the side was solid too. My husband got the ham and said it was juicy and well done. Not a destination spot necessarily, but a great find if you're in the area and want a hearty, unpretentious brunch.
