Let me start by saying that I almost never give reviews, and when I do, it's because the service was truly exceptional. If you look at my profile, you'll see that my reviews have been limited to the guy who finally fixed my parent's entertainment system and an attorney who saved me $1,200 and didn't charge me. That's it. After working with Jerry and Welds on Wheels, it is my pleasure to add a third review. My partners and I own a rental property on the near west side of Chicago and, every day, without fail, it's nearly impossible to find honest, hardworking service providers. Everyone is trying to scam you, people never show up when they say they will, and the work often has to be redone. It was SUCH A RELIEF to find Jerry. His office was ALWAYS RESPONSIVE, they were EXTREMELY ACCOMODATING, and the work was of SUPERIOR QUALITY. He charged me MUCH LESS than he could have and SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than the competition. Most importantly, he EDUCATED ME throughout the process so that I know how to better maintain my building in the future. We had Jerry basically rebuild and treat an entire metal stairwell at the front of the building, and I am SOOOOOO GLAD that I did. He later came back and installed a smart lock for us on the front gate and then leveled the gate itself. Jerry, you are a good, honest person, and I am beyond grateful to be your customer and your friend. read more

Cannot recommend these guys enough. They repaired our gate which had been misaligned for a long time, recommending we install a bar above the gate to prevent it from shifting with changing temperature. They were able to make it in the same shape as the gate and it looks great. Communication was top notch as well. read more

Welds on Wheels is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual headache that you get when trying to do odd jobs around the house. I had them perform two welding projects for me, and they did a great job on both: 1) fixing my front gate which had settled a bit and wouldn't close anymore (a couple of handymen / friends had already tried and failed), and 2) creating and welding an addition on my back gate to make it higher. Both times I was really surprised at how easy it was two deal with them. They have great customer service: I just emailed them a description of what I wanted done with a photo, they gave me an estimate of what it would cost, and then sent their mobile crew over a couple of days later to do the work. On the first project their estimate was $180-$300, depending upon exactly what they would need to do in order to fix the gate. Naturally, I assumed that with the way most house work goes the actual price would come in at $300. But it came in at $180, which never seems to happen. (And keep in mind, this was something that I had been trying to get fixed for months, to no avail.) On the second project their estimate was $380, and the actual price came in exactly at that number. However, they also noticed a couple of other fixes / improvements needed to the back gate which I wasn't aware of, and simply did those for free while they were there. Both times they just emailed me an invoice after the work was completed. They don't make you pay anything in advance - they only bill you afterwards once you're satisfied. Overall I couldn't be happier, and will definitely be calling them with any future welding needs. read more

Thanks Kandy for scheduling our appointment with Welds on Wheels! Guys did a great job mounting our 2 mesh grids on gates and adding security knob cover. They kept work area nice and clean. We are very pleased with their work. :-) read more

Welds on Wheels installed the replacement lock on our 30+ year iron fence gate last year. This winter the ground shifted, moving a post and making it difficult to open the gate. They came within 24 hours of our (non-emergency) call, created a solution on-site and completed the repair in less than half an hour. Great work, knowledgeable/friendly technicians and fair price = happy customer and VALUE! Would definitely recommend/hire them again. read more

This review is overdue! I've been meaning to write this for the past month, because Jerry and Welds on Wheels were simply great! I had 5 stainless steel barstools that I purchased a little over a year ago. My counter was taller than a counter stool, but shorter than a standard bar, so they were always a bit too high. Over time, it became apparent they were just too high to be comfortable. I called a couple custom metal work places that I thought could help....not sure why, but I never heard back. I'm guessing "shortening barstools" just wasn't the work they wanted to do. I was about to give up when I came across Welds on Wheels. It looked like their work was a little different, but I thought I'd give it a try. Jerry was extremely helpful. He was very knowledgeable, and with a simple photo, he was able to assess what needed to be done and explain it to me. Since I just bought the stools a year ago, I was a little nervous when I dropped them off, but Jerry clearly knew exactly what he was doing and they turned out great! And it was so fast. In addition to cutting and welding the stools back together, they needed to try to match the finish in the area to the brushed stainless of the rest of the barstool. They did it all in a week! Throughout the process, Jerry kept me in the loop and was very responsive. I've used the stools with guests multiple times since Welds on Wheels shortened them, and they are great. If I ever need metal work in the future, I will definitely call Welds on Wheels! read more

I had a 3-unit mailbox made out of aluminum that I could only find in one size online. I ordered it hoping it would fit and it stuck out from the wall by 3 inches and looked horrible. I reached out to a few metal fabrication companies asking for a favor and Jerry texted me back quickly asking me to drop it off at his shop and gave me an extremely reasonable price. The turnaround time was about 24 hours and now the mailbox looks great. Thanks Jerry!~ read more

Terrific group of people to work with. They require a deposit before they do any work which made me a little uneasy just because I don't like giving money to people I've never even met with. Another fantastic experience with Welds on Wheels. We have wrought iron fence with a side gate that loses its alignment every time the temperature changes. I called Welds on Wheels and Kandy immediately got my problem quoted and scheduled us. They came quicker than expected and did excellent work. Jerry knows his craft and goes the extra mile to make sure it is done right. They are affordable and will get your metal work done quickly and with quality. The frame they built ensures no matter what the weather the gate will open and close. I wish I would have done this a long time ago. Painless. read more

I am very glad I came to yelp. The reviewers were correct about Welds on Wheels. I sent over some specs for them to fabricate me stand for my 180-gallon aquarium. They delivered my stand today and I am very pleased. The stand is gorgeous. It's well built. I was not expecting to have the stand finished so fast as I am refinishing my basement. I am recommended these guys to my fellow reef club members. These guys and lady are awesome. read more

These guys did a great job re-attaching a wrought iron gate that leads into our yard. Fast, friendly, reasonably priced. They gave an estimate to secure other parts of the fence that needed work and we approved the cost. They even expanded a bolt hole on another gate, making it lockable. Will call them again any time I need metal work done in Chicago. read more

I have a wrought iron railing on my front steps and one of the very front posts was rusting from the bottom and getting loose. I tried to fix it myself and it held up for a year or two but now I needed professional help. I didn't realize that not many companies want to handle repairs like this. They want big jobs only and to replace entire railings. Then I found Weld on Wheels on Yelp. I called and was asked to send picts of the problem because they were too busy at the time to send someone to just do an estimate. I got a speedy reply to my picts and was given a very reasonable quote for the work, I was asked for 1/2 down as a deposit, which I thought was fine considering how people change their minds these days. I was able to transfer funds using Zelle, so that went smoothly. I was given a tentative time frame and was texted this morning that they would be out today or tomorrow. Jerry and his crew came early this afternoon and replaced the post. They had to remove the old post, dig out the old foundation , pour new concrete, weld in the new post and prime & paint it. Jerry also found a hidden problem and fixed it as well for no extra cost. They did a great job. They were polite and helpful and cleaned up after themselves and left no mess. I would recommend them to anyone who has any wrought iron that needs to be repaired. read more

My HOA building had a 4 story metal staircase that was rusting. Before we could get a vendor to paint, we had to repair pieces that rusted all the way through. I contacted Welds on Wheels for a quote and Jerry was out the same day in the rain. He was very professional throughout the process and provided a quote that was competitive with other vendors. We ended up going with Jerry and Welds on Wheels because he gave me the confidence that he was a good guy to work with and would get it right. During the job, he and his team were very thorough while quickly completing the work. His team removed rusted pieces of the staircase railing, fabricated new pieces, welded them in place and primed the metal to protect it before the painters could arrive. He evened offered to come by after the painters finished to ensure the staircase drained properly to avoid future pieces from rusting internally. I plan on using Jerry and Welds on Wheels for any future metal work. Thanks Jerry! read more

After sending a picture of my project, I received a quote back quickly, and after approving they were out within a couple days and my project was completed. Called once and text once with picture as they advised on there web sight. No response to either highly disappointed.

I wanted to work with Welds on Wheels based on the good reviews, but unfortunately my experience was pretty bad. I had 5 welding projects they quoted by sending me a text of what it would cost, without coming out. I had to ask what was actually included in the scope of work, and I received a vague description. When I asked about the details, they said they had to come out to see it. They adjusted the quote 4 times, and missed 2 items even after coming out and taking notes. Then they wanted half up front but would not perform the work for nearly 2 months. I asked if I could do a 20% deposit because I did not feel comfortable paying $1500 2 months in advance, and that is when Jerry said they would only do half the scope. I said fine and asked for an adjusted document. The next day, Kandy said they were too busy and wouldn't do the work. What a big waste of time! read more

I am happy to leave Welds on Wheels a 5 star review! Our HOA needed to hire someone to weld some mesh onto our gate and change out the locks, and we tried for a long time to find someone good to do this. After several discouraging encounters with other businesses (places that didn't bother to return phone calls or follow-up with estimates, or whose estimates were through-the-roof-high) I contacted Welds on Wheels and they were polite, professional, had great follow-up, gave us the best price of the quotes we had gotten, and did the job quickly and efficiently. Everyone from the company was so nice, and we are extremely happy with the work. I highly recommend them! read more
