We hired Skyline to replace our wooden backyard fences (fences that flank both sides of our property) with steel/wood privacy fences. The entire experience was handled very professionally. The process started with Ramiro, the owner and leader, visiting us to ask about/listen to what we wanted in a fence. Ramiro spent a fair amount of time with us to ensure full understanding of what the project would entail. Within a few days, Ramiro provided a fair estimate. Based on the reviews we read about his team's work and on our initial experience with Ramiro, we hired Skyline Metal Fabrication. Within a reasonable time frame (about 8 weeks in our case), Ramiro and the Skyline Metal Fabrication team was on site to start work. We found the entire crew to be friendly, considerate, conscientious, expedient, professional and hard-working. The team always accommodated our need to let our dog in the back yard to do her business without a hitch. They arrived on time and stayed until they completed what they needed to accomplish each day. They were also careful to clean up at the end of each day. Within five working days, our steel/wood privacy fence was complete. The work is of the highest quality, as the team focused on every detail, spending the time it took to ensure a beautiful result. I really liked it, but it was in a sad shape. There was a gooey residue on the barrel that would sometimes leave imprints on peoples clothes if they brushed up against it. And the barrel hoops kept falling down. Chicago fabrications brought the barrel back to life. They did an excellent job sanding and staining the barrel and cleaning up the metal hoops and fastening them so they would no longer slip down the barrel. And all that residue is gone. We hired Ryan and co. to give us an estimate on repairing the metal stairs and landing behind our…read more2-unit condo. The estimate was solid and he was very honest about what did and didn't need to be replaced - we were confident they would do a good job. The initial work itself was indeed very good. Though it took them a very long time to commit to an actual starting date due to another "big job" they had. Aside from some weather delays, there were long gaps time when they promised work would begin but several warm sunny warm days would go by without a word. Once they finally started, the work progressed mostly well with one gap in the road when we didn't see them for a week. They finished the job and asked for the remaining payment due. Upon inspection, we noticed a few things that still needed addressing. After a few more days a couple of guys came by and did a very thorough job of touching up the missing stuff. Will was the main guy for the touch-ups and was truly awesome. He was very dedicated to ensuring we were happy with every little detail. So we arranged for payment of the balance due. But then... it rained a couple of days later and we saw a large puddle of water pooled up on the landing right outside our back door. This is our main egress to our cars with kids, etc. so it was kind of a big deal. And with winter approaching, it would be a sheet of ice and potentially dangerous when trying to carry our 2 year-old to the car. I contacted Ryan directly on 9/17 and he said no problem and he'd send someone to pound it out the next day. Nobody showed. I contacted him again on 10/4, 11/3, 11/14, and 12/6. I got a response only once on 11/14 saying sorry and he'd come the next day, but nobody showed up. So now, we have a constant puddle and sheet of ice outside our back door that my daughters and wife have all slipped and fell on on their way to work and school. It's pretty disappointing that what was so close to a great job was ruined by this small little thing they couldn't be bothered to fix because we had already paid them. I don't think we'd hire them again. Despite the good work they did initially, and the excellent service from Will, the inability to do the right thing and follow through is a deal breaker. Not following through on a seemingly small detail has caused a huge pain for us.
