Quick reply and ready to support. Excellent craftsmanship! Highly recommend without reservations!

This was one of the strangest and most disappointing interactions I've had with a contractor in Chicago. I reached out to Welds on Wheels because I needed gate boxes and locks installed. I explained the job, sent photos, and spoke with Kandy. I was told Jerry would review everything and get back to me. What came back was not an estimate. It was a message saying that they "prefer not to work in certain areas in Chicago due to high crime" and that they had previously been assaulted in "bad neighborhoods." Excuse me? I've owned my home for more than 20 years. I work out of state, regularly have contractors perform work at the property, and have never had a contractor respond to me this way. There was no incident at my house, no specific safety issue raised about my property, and apparently no effort to learn anything about the location beyond whatever assumptions they had already made about the neighborhood. My house is also not in ill-repair. I did speak with Kandy on the phone, also. Of course a contractor can decline a job. What bothered me was the manner in which this company did it and the sweeping characterization of me and my neighborhood that accompanied the refusal. After speaking with Kandy and then receiving that message, I was left seriously questioning what assumptions were being made about the neighborhood and the people who live there, including whether race and neighborhood demographics factored into the decision. That is not how I expect a professional business to communicate with a prospective customer. I also did something I should have done beforehand: I went back and read more of their reviews elsewhere. The complaints I found about missed appointments, changing prices, reliability, and service certainly did not make me feel as though I had missed out on anything. Thankfully, I found someone else to do the work. Chicago is a city of neighborhoods. If your business serves Chicago, professionalism should extend to customers throughout Chicago--not just the neighborhoods you have decided are acceptable. I would not recommend Welds on Wheels based on my experience. One star because Yelp does not allow zero. read more

We hired welds on wheels to add some rods to our fence so our new puppy couldn't get out. They did a fantastic job! Looks like the original fence and is so safe. We are very happy with their work! Highly recommend this amazing company! read more

Can't recommend them highly enough! We are a small HOA with a aging fence, and they are a pleasure to deal with. The work is done quickly and for a decent price. Would deal with again every time! read more

Kandy and her team do great work. We had them come out a couple years ago to replace the mailbox housing on our condo association front gate/fence, and the previously leaky mailboxes are dry and secure ever since. Today we noticed that our gate had 2 hinges rusted through - they sent over a quote promptly and even came out the same day! They not only added new hinges, but also removed and cleaned up the old hinges that had been previously left behind, primed and painted, tightened the latch, and installed a new closer. Call them up for any welding work you need done - you won't regret it. read more

Great quality, fair price, professional crew, will use them as our buildings go to for all metal repair and installation work.

Welds on Wheels worked with our condo association to remove and then reattach an exterior landing so that we could redo our garage roof. They were very communicative and flexible when the weather caused a delay in part of our project. They also communicated about additional costs that would be needed when the project grew beyond what was anticipated. While we did end up above our original estimate, it is because we needed additional work. Welds on Wheels did a great job-I highly recommend them for any welding needs! read more

Very prompt service and terrific quality. We had our rusted stairs replaced and they did a great job. Very reasonable prices to boot! read more

This owner is a rare find - an honest guy who takes pride in his work. Quick, surprisingly HONEST service. They might not be the least expensive welder in town, but sometimes yo really do get what you pay for. They really do stand behind the LIFETIME GUARANTEE for their work. When my repair didn't perform as expected, I included that in my original review. The owner takes so much pride in his work, he sent me a refund I didn't even ask for. Although I wish the job had worked out differently, I have a lot of respect for this place. I would recommend meeting in person if possible to be very clear on mutual expectations. I sent photos and we communicated via text message, which probably contributed to our original misunderstandings. At the end of the day, RECOMMENDED read more

Probably would be five stars for everything but we did not see their work! In fact, they could not help us with the issue we had - it could not be welded. They were very responsive! They helped us figure out what to do- next steps and because they are quite busy now are going to let us know when they can come to our home to weld some other smaller projects we have, that aren't so urgent! We really appreciated them. Very nice and gave us help trying to find a solution. read more

I've used these guys twice now, once to fabricate a railing for our front stairs & once to fabricate a new fence for the front of our home. Both times the work was outstanding. Not only does it look good, but it lasts. On top of that, I felt good about what I paid for both projects. I highly recommend these guys. read more

Our building recently used Welds on Wheels to mount our mailbox into our iron fence after another provider messed up the installation. Communication with Kandy was simple and straightforward, and the bid to do the work was done at a very fair price. Everyone in the building is excited to finally have a watertight mailbox that looks great welded and inset into the iron fence. The guys that came were quick and efficient and I cant think of anything can that could have gone smoother! I highly recommend this business, and we'll be back should we need any more work done! read more

This review is way overdue!! I had a pot rack that needed to be hung but the problem was the beam I wanted to affix it to was on an angle. I sent a photo of my dilemma and Kandy texted me back with a quote for a custom bracket. Jerry came by and was able to assess what needed to be done and explain to me how he was going to execute it. He asked for the hook to match color and work it into the bracket. He came back with the custom bracket and wow, didn't think it was possible, but he made it happen. I now have a pot rack that's usable. Great job. Couldn't be happier. Thanks! read more

Everything they did was done with extreme professionalism and turned out better than expected. They arrived on time and were courteous and communicative. We needed our back gate post-fixed as it had deteriorated and they also were able to help us install a closer for our front gate and re-align the gate. I would recommend them for any Chicago gate repairs or welding concerns. read more

I used Welds On Wheels to install a railing on concrete steps. The whole process from estimate to completion was outstanding. They are very responsive and fair priced, and the end product was great! Exactly what I wanted and what was quoted! The quote process was via text and email, which made it incredibly convenient. The installers explained and confirmed everything that was done. If the need arises, I will be calling them again! I highly recommend. read more

Been needing to get my front fence repainted for awhile and the gates realigned for a couple of years now. Finally got around to it given the pandemic and these guys were able to do it all for me! While it may have been cheaper to just bid out the painting and alignment separately, to get it all done in one go was worth it to me. I finally have a gate that closes easily without me having to slam it shut. Plus it no longer looks like a rusted, sun faded mess of a fence. Oh and they were very quick to respond via phone and email! read more

Wow...they are awesome and did a great job on my front fence and 3 new gates. They even did a great job but installing a secure package drop box I purchased on line and made it fit perfect and really gave it a custom design look. read more

We had Jerry and team help us remove a large steel structure from the front of our home. They were responsive, professional, and did an amazing job. Sent photos for an estimate. They came by and the hinges to our gate was fixed within the day. Our quote was half of another company. I wasn't there when they finished our gate so they sent us a video. Thank you, we're very happy with the work. Went above and behind. read more

We had a great experience with Welds on Wheels. They did excellent work in a timely manner, for a reasonable price, and the customer service was extremely professional and always responsive. We looked for many months for a company to fix the side gate in our bungalow, which was crooked because the ground had settled after some underground work was done. The sagging had cause the door to not be able to open properly, and for years, we could not even use it. We tried contacting other companies but we had terrible luck with all other companies we contacted. But one day I saw the Welds on Wheels crew working on a neighbor's gate, and I approached them and asked for information. They gave me their card and referred me to Kandy for a quote and scheduling. Within a day, we received a call, and within another day, a visit from Kandy and an estimate. We scheduled the work, they came and did the work when they said they would, and it was done so well I could not believe it. It looked like nothing was ever wrong, and our gate looks and works great. I highly recommend Welds on Wheels. read more

I contacted Welds on Wheels to weld the door to my front gate after it fell off. The customer service was great and the work I requested was done promptly, efficiently, and was reasonably priced. However, I am leaving a two star review due to the work that was done that I DID NOT request and DID NOT want. In short, the previous owner installed a cheap $20-$25 dollar lock upside down. The welders decided to correct it (i.e., take it off, turn it the appropriate way, and add two new screws ) without contacting me for approval. I was called after this was completed and was charged an additional $80, again for something I DID NOT request. Update 3/27- Changing my review form 2 to 4 stars after the 'Welds on Wheels' corrected the charge. read more

Guys did great job repairing our rusted steps. The crew showed up on time and finished work faster than we expected. They also gave us advices on maintenance, so we can have better use of the back metal porch and staircases. Definitely recommend them to everyone who needs quality repair work done by professionals. read more

I just need an iron latch to be re-welded onto my gate, as it fell off. Unfortunately when I called Welds on Wheels, they told me they have a minimum of $220 per project. They don't really advertise that, so I figured I would advertise it for them! =) If you have a 15 minute job, these are NOT the people to call. Heck, they wouldn't even take down my information in case they were going to be nearby my house and could just swing by if they were around within the next few weeks. Lost an easy $100 I guess. read more

Jerry repaired a couple of my metal patio chairs that had broken welds. Super helpful and friendly service. Recommended.

On Saturday our fence was damage and the front metal bar was cracked on the top and bottom (see pics), and I thought it would be least a week before we got it repaired. I looked up Welds on Wheels on yelp and saw that they had 5 stars and gave them a call. They were very professional. We set up an appointment for the next day, Sunday mind you, to come out and repair the back gate. No only did they fixed it we received a digital invoice within 24hrs! I can't say enough about the Quality, Professionalism, and Price of Welds on Whells. We will definitely be using them for any metal works or welding needs. Thanks again. read more

I have an indoor snowsports training machine. Not something you see every day. One of the rollers broke last season and I went the friend of a friend route and got it done this summer. It broke after less than 10 hours of use, during a party that I then had to comp, costing me time and money. Called the great team at Weld on Wheels. First be patient, they are good and busy. Came out took the machine apart, did the weld and then put it back together again. All for a fair price. Would highly recommend. read more

Jerry and his assistant Rudy did a great job leveling my front gate so that the latch lined up with the strike plate opening, repairing my back gate, and welding a bar on a folding chair. One week ago from the time I am writing this, I had the idea to have a steel railing fabricated for my home stairwell. Based on yelp reviews I contacted Welds on Wheels the next day, sent them a drawing and Jerry got back to me almost instantly. He had a quote and a fast timeline already laid out. Now one week later the project is already completed, and it looks even better than I thought it would. Big thanks to the whole W.O.W. crew, they are friendly, very tech savvy, and most importantly great at what they do. Not only do I recommend these guys, but I'm already getting more projects lined up for them here in the future. Posting before and after pics, plus a detail shot of the quality of their ground welds. read more

Needed 2 iron railings repaired on our rear cement steps. The posts had rusted through. Called up WoW and was able to take pictures and send them in. A reasonable quote followed. We scheduled a date but received a call a week early saying they had a window and could they come early. Excellent welding and cement work. Several neighbors came over afterwards to check out the work and were impressed as well. We would use WoW again in a heartbeat! read more

The weld on one of the hinges to our gate broke in the middle of winter. The gate is kind of a high traffic situation and WoW was able to get the work done in-between snowstorms. The entire experience, from the initial call to the invoicing, was top notch. read more
