    Chicken pad thai

This place deserves more credit. I ordered takeout and then went on Yelp to leave a review and couldn't believe they had a 3.5 star rating! I had their medium spicy chicken Pad Thai which also came with tofu in it. The spice level is closer to mild rather than medium and it has a bit of sweetness in it too (which I really loved). Overall, it was delicious and the serving size was pretty big and left me very satisfied. I will definitely be ordering and dining here more!

I went here for dinner with a girlfriend recently. We were lured in by their Specials Chalkboard in the window that advertised Pad Thai and Bubble Tea for $10. Unfortunately, it wasn't good :( I got the chicken Pad Thai and a Lychee Bubble Tea while my friend got the vegetable Pad Thai and a Coconut Bubble Tea. Our bubble teas were ok, but a bit on the small side and not cold enough for my tastes. The tapioca were satisfactory, not terrible, but not exceptional. Mine tasted like lychee and it wasn't overly sweet, so that was good. My Pad Thai was too oily for my liking and I felt that it lacked flavour. I asked for it "medium" yet I didn't taste any spiciness whatsoever. The chicken pieces were like oddly shaped random pieces of chicken. To me it felt like they were scavenged from the carcass that was used for another dish o_O So my friend took one bite of her Pad Thai, put her chopsticks down and declared she wasn't going to eat the rest. Yikes! She said the tofu "tasted old" and "not fresh." So she ordered some spring rolls ($5) and ate that instead. She finished her spring rolls and said they were ok. The place was packed though. It's a small restaurant, but every single table was taken by the time we left (it was practically empty when we first arrived). The server was nice, but she didn't check up on us at all. My friend had to go up to the front to order the spring rolls. Then we had to go up to the front to pay because it didn't look like our server as going to bring us the bill. From the dining area, you can see the fridges, cleaning solutions and all sorts of other stuff that is typically "behind the scenes." While it's not my preference, I'm not overly fussed about that kind of stuff (as I've dined at mom and pop hole in the wall joints that look like that but serve amazing food), but I know that some people are, so I figured that I'd mention it. It makes me sad to leave a poor review, but in my opinion, the food was just not good :(

Stopped in when we got back into town on Thanksgiving, grateful things were open in Chinatown! Meal was at kind of an odd time, but our server was prompt and friendly and The menu is a range of dishes, mostly with noodles (makes sense) and the prices are very reasonable. We opted for some meat spring rolls, wonton noodle soup, and spicy peanut soup. All three were great - my peanut soup was really filling. The pho broth for the wonton was nice, it had more spices than many places. Servings were generous, as in most noodle shops. Keep an eye out for menu items on the wall but not in the menu. We were interested in trying the crispy rice another reviewer mentioned, but couldn't find it on the menu and didn't see it on the wall until after our food arrived. I guess we'll have to go back! They also deliver and do take-out. Would recommend this for anyone looking for a yummy, affordable meal.

Stopping by Ottawa for business and was looking for a lunch place. Glad I went in here. Easy to pass by since there isn't large signage but let me say, great value and awesome food. I ordered the crispy rice with stir fried pork and veggies. Delicious! Crispy rice as so good and well.....crispy. I haven't come across any resto both in Toronto nor Ottawa that does this. The crispy rice here takes me back when I was a kid and mom made it. Broccoli with beef was awesome too which my son gobbled up (he's a picky 2 year old) Don't pass this place by without trying it!

The place was very steady but we got one of the few remaining tables. The menu has a lot on it and there is another, separate menu for specials. The complimentary herbal tea was nice and hot for a very cold day. Ordered was a pho for me, extra spicy and my friend got a beef and veg dish and they subbed her noodles for rice upon her request and accommodated her peanut allergy. The food was good, also. I ordered us shrimp spring rolls to start, 2 to an order. Very good. $6. The entrees... My broth was nice, albeit mild. Not that clovey taste I've experienced at other places. My pho had shrimp, beef and chicken. It was a house specialty so it only came in a medium size. This was fine as I ordered extra noodles for $2.50 to go and had some at home for dinner tonight. And, it will feed me for lunch one more time tomorrow. The containers were leak proof and the liquid survived the drive home. The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive and kind. Said to be family owned and that everything is homemade. I'll return! I love Vietnamese food and love supporting these places. I will avoid weekends though as I was told people are lined up at the door for seating. Was it the best I have ever had? No but it fit the bill and I'm glad I live close by as there are 100 other dishes I'd like to try.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. A somewhat small restaurant but still had a few tables of patrons at that time. The staff were nice. Plenty of parking.

While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

It was good compared to others I've tried but still missing a flavor in the broth. Service was quick. The guy who gave us the menus handed us with a paper to write down our order but didn't speak which was fine because we understood what we had to do. Everything was cooked as we ordered and the vegetable spring rolls were amazing and piping hot when they came out. We couldn't even eat/touch them until our main dishes came out. They were also quick to refill our waters as well. Interestingly enough, the guy who handed us our menus actually finally spoke perfect English when we went to pay. The beef was really tender and flavourful. I did get a fatty and gristley piece though :( but on the most part, the beef was lean. The chicken was lean and a tiny bit dry, but still flavourful a tasty. The shrimp were medium sized and ok. Not that plump nor juicy, but for the price, not surprising. The spring roll was mostly wrapper and too oily for my liking. The rice dish came with fresh cucumbers and pickled radishes and pickled carrots. The vermicelli dish came with shredded lettuce and bean sprouts, which were underneath the vermicelli. It also came with pickled carrots and crushed peanuts. The fresh vegetables were fresh and the picked vegetables had a good sour bite to them. We also got a tub of fish sauce, which neither of us like, but my dad does, so I saved it and gave it to him on the weekend when I went to see my parents. I appreciated that they labelled the fish sauce with a warning to open slowly (with a smiley face, lol). Food is packed in styrofoam, which is not my preference for environmental and health reasons. Service was very courteous and efficient. I was told it would be 25 minutes. I returned in 22 minutes and they were just tying up the bag. Perfect timing! Note that the prices on their takeout menu (pictured) are outdated. My dishes were listed as $9.50 each on the menu, but I was charged $11.75, which is still a great deal. Prices have gone up as a result of the Covid Pandemic, so I get it. I would just suggest that they print new takeout menus. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path in Chinatown. Street parking only.
