Beef pho size medium. Massive!
Cameron C.

This is a great Vietnamese restaurant! Just went the other day and got the medium bowl of the beef pho. It's incredible. They are very fast and the medium bowl is more than enough. I usually get a large and I couldn't even finish this. They didn't skimp on the beef like some places. Would love to go back in the future.

Great spot for lunch and dinner. Fresh flavours of Vietnam, generous portions and great atmosphere!

Many pages of options, but all well prepared. And ask Tito for his iced coffee...special treat. We had S11 Spicy Beef shank and Ham balls, Bún Bò Hu Đc Bit. And D13 - Chicken Lemongrass Bún Gà Xào X. Flavourful and enormous portions. Be warned. The Extra large can feed a family. For 2 meals. Busy for lunch but ample parking out back. So much better than dining in one of the suburban chains of Kanata...or Ottawa for that matter. Enjoy!!

Place is really nice inside with great ac and a full bar. Parking at the back with alot of spots. It is also beside a plaza with a couple other food places. They also have a really nice big patio. The size of the dishes is on the large side. I come from toronto, compared the pho is on par. Some dishes can be better but still good. Staff is really friendly and veggies are fresh. Had my dog with me, was allowed on patio. X-large pho can serve 2 people for sure ( i eat alot, hard time finishing). Bun was really good. Price is reasonable, my pictures got the menu.

First visit with family... dinner time fill up with people.. food come the right amount time... Special noodle bowl was good but the soup was blend and it needs hot chilli oil to spice it up. The chicken, shrimp and beef vermicelli was ok, the meat was a bit dry and the shrimp was somewhat burnt, but the veggies were fresh and crunchy. The grill pork chop with egg quiche and rice was quite good and the meat was cooked just right. Would recommend to go during lunch hour over dinner.

Staff are plentiful and alert during lunch rush. Portions are massive. Taste is average. I would recommend.

The service is very friendly and efficient from the moment you enter. On to the food. What I don't like is when the fresh spring rolls are made in advance and are left out until someone orders. The rice paper becomes dry and chewy and that ruins it. Sadly, Chez Lam served them like that, so they can be better. The pho soup was great. There is good flavor and ingredients are fresh. They have all the condiments on the table. I like my soup with more onion shavings and shallots but it was still tasty. I found the service to be extra good and attentive. That was much appreciated. Prices are similar to other Vietnamese restaurants. They accept cash, debit, credit. Location wise: Chez Lam is in a strip mall with a gas station, dollar store, massage therapy clinic, and a few more shops.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. A somewhat small restaurant but still had a few tables of patrons at that time. The staff were nice. Plenty of parking.

While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

I've been on the search for a good banh canh after having the most amazing one in Vietnam. However,…read moreit has been a hard search because most places don't sell this item so I came here just for this item. It was good compared to others I've tried but still missing a flavor in the broth. Service was quick. The guy who gave us the menus handed us with a paper to write down our order but didn't speak which was fine because we understood what we had to do. Everything was cooked as we ordered and the vegetable spring rolls were amazing and piping hot when they came out. We couldn't even eat/touch them until our main dishes came out. They were also quick to refill our waters as well. Interestingly enough, the guy who handed us our menus actually finally spoke perfect English when we went to pay. This was a good local spot which consist of actual Vietnamese owners/cooks. There was also a group of Vietnamese ladies who were definitely regulars.

The beef was really tender and flavourful. I did get a fatty and gristley piece though :( but on the most part, the beef was lean. The chicken was lean and a tiny bit dry, but still flavourful a tasty. The shrimp were medium sized and ok. Not that plump nor juicy, but for the price, not surprising. The spring roll was mostly wrapper and too oily for my liking. The rice dish came with fresh cucumbers and pickled radishes and pickled carrots. The vermicelli dish came with shredded lettuce and bean sprouts, which were underneath the vermicelli. It also came with pickled carrots and crushed peanuts. The fresh vegetables were fresh and the picked vegetables had a good sour bite to them. We also got a tub of fish sauce, which neither of us like, but my dad does, so I saved it and gave it to him on the weekend when I went to see my parents. I appreciated that they labelled the fish sauce with a warning to open slowly (with a smiley face, lol). Food is packed in styrofoam, which is not my preference for environmental and health reasons. Service was very courteous and efficient. I was told it would be 25 minutes. I returned in 22 minutes and they were just tying up the bag. Perfect timing! Note that the prices on their takeout menu (pictured) are outdated. My dishes were listed as $9.50 each on the menu, but I was charged $11.75, which is still a great deal. Prices have gone up as a result of the Covid Pandemic, so I get it. I would just suggest that they print new takeout menus. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path in Chinatown. Street parking only.
