I stopped in to pick up some lunch from the hot bar. They have definitely gotten better. I love the pepper salmon, roasted brussel sprouts, teriyaki chicken and their wings. They have about 4-5 different types of wings and my favorites are the smoked wings and the old bay wings. There are a lot of other options too including sushi. I like their seating area. You can eat, use their wifi or meet up with friends. It's a chill spot. Even though this location is closer to me, I think the Woodmore location has better selections in the hot food bar. read more

I've never been in a Wegman's I didn't love. They have an expert-staffed cheese bar, a pickle bar, fresh bread area, fresh fish, butcher, very good fresh produce, polite staff (the staff is really excellent), and the prices are reasonable. Most of the grocery chains in the Baltimore/Washington area have abandoned the idea of reasonably-priced, quality produce. I count on the produce here. If it's on the shelf, I can bring it home and assume that the items in the middle of the package are not rotten or otherwise inedible. The house-brand products are inexpensive, quality items. You can save up to half over the brand-name items. I'm a cereal eater and like theirs. And the stores are staffed. With real people. You don't have go into the break room to find. Who know the answers to your questions. The cheese staff knows cheese and can match your preferences with a recommendation. (I'm sure this is true of the fish monger and the butcher, but I keep going to the cheese bar.) As you go through the store you see people stocking the shelves who will politely stop what they are doing to direct you to the dog food or spaghetti. I almost forgot the fast food. They have several steam tables with Indian, Chinese, and "American" (is that a cuisine or dos it just mean fried?), and other hot foods. They have salad bar. They have a grill for custom-made items. And lots of seating space. (They have so much seating space you may sometimes find a group get together in the less-frequented areas.) Personally, I live within a short walking distance of a chain store and hate to drive. But, I go the 17-mile drive to buy produce and other items at Wegmans. This was an excellent place until the last 2 years. They discriminate against small orders trying to drive you to their terrible old time self checkouts. They never now have an express line open so if you might be old and unable to do self checkout you will need to stand in a slow line. I have consumed thousands of their Blueberry muffins since they opened in 2012 but in the last year they have become so greasy that I would never eat one again. Their pre sliced lunchmeat is awful. My favorite grocery store! Love this Wegmans! Very clean, ample parking, friendly staff and always stocked. Only downside is that they continue to hike up prices on items like family pack grilled chicken breast. I used to buy them at $10 dollars a pack for 4 very large pieces, but now, they sell the same for $15 dollars a pack with smaller portions. I stopped buying them shortly after but other than the price gouging that they do on certain items, it's still a very nice grocery store. There's another Wegmans 5 minutes from my house in Bowie next to the Costco, however it doesn't feel like a real Wegmans. Staff aren't as friendly, parking is limited and I always seem to bump into rude customers. For that reason alone, I'm willing to drive the extra 20-30 minutes to the Wegmans in Waugh Chapel Rd. It's worth the drive to get friendlier customer service. I would, give this Wegmans a 5 plus rating but I can't get over the price gauging on some of the family pack ready cooked meals. 4 stars is the best I can do. :) read more

My checkins show a huge decrease in my Wegmans visits. No, I have not moved yet. I was simply too overwhelmed. When Wegmans first opened I was thrilled, so thrilled in fact that I brought out of town visitors to the market with me the brag about our new, amazing store. However, shopping here regularly became tiresome. Yes, they have a fantastic buffet that gives Whole Foods some serious dine in competition. Yes, their butcher makes a point to bring in a great variety of kosher meats and I TRULY appreciate that as most markets could care less about their Jewish patrons. Yes, they have an amazing, fresh, gorgeous section of organic fruits and veggies. I still stop in from time to time for these last two reasons. So why am I going against the grain and giving Wegmans a lower review than my fellow Yelpers? Because it's just too darn much. Too confusing, very poor organization, and for a store that has a whole lot of everything (that feels like a whole lot of nothing to me), I still am left with too many items on my list that I cannot find or find at a decent price. Also, while Wegmans marketing collateral boast lower prices than the other major markets, I would beg to disagree with this. Certain items are pennies cheaper than other stores, but they are plenty of items (like the spice section) that are much higher and overall the total bill comes to equal or exceeding my trips to the competition. I am meticulous about tracking the household spending as I prefer to spend money on travel than unnecessarily expensive grocery visits. I also hate spending a lot of time shopping. I should be able to get in and out of a store in a hour for my bi-weekly to once every three week trips. At Wegmans, it's easy to get caught in there for well over an hour. There are like 3 or 4 different areas you find oil, about 3 areas where they honey is kept, 4 areas for hot sauces (and the list goes on...), it's ridiculous and really burst my Wegmans bubble. The employees are always really friendly and offer to help, but OMG they don't even know where most of the items are! BECAUSE IT MAKES LITTLE SENSE! Once, we were looking for a hot sauce that the computer system said they had about 30 in stock. We spent 30 minutes trying to locate that stock and the employee didn't want to give up...I needed to move on. Keep in mind, I cook completely from scratch 90% of the time, so I don't run in for a bunch of prepackaged, processed foods, and I think maybe if that is the purpose of your visit, or to only shop in the amazing produce section (which I still think is the best in the area outside the local farmers markets) then you will do well here. Yes, this was my very first time visiting a Wegmans. I'd heard so much from my co-workers about how wonderful it is, but since there was none close to my home, I'd never had the occasion to visit. And honestly, I was thinking, "Really? It's a grocery store? How exciting could it be?" Well I stand corrected! I had taken the day off work and was in Crofton for some errands, and while I was searching for someplace to buy some new curtains, my stomach reminded me that it was 3pm and I hadn't eaten all day. I thought about one of the various restaurants in the area, but wasn't really in the mood for any of those, and also needed to pick up a few grocery items, so I thought, "Hey, I'll check out Wegmans and grab a snack to eat in the car." WRONG! First of all, this place is HUGE! I entered through the cafe side, and was amazed at all the different food bars they had set up. The Chinese bar immediately caught my attention, so I put together a box to take home. And I'll just say the sesame chicken and lo mein were delicious! Then I went by another bar and saw some kind of spinach/feta/egg thing that looked amazing, so I had to get one of those.....and the portabello pizza......and the artichoke/asiago cake......Yes, I ended up with a LOT of food from the bars, so I had dinner that night as well! And it was all fabulous....really, there was nothing I didn't like. So for their food bar, they get 2 thumbs up! Then I went into the marketplace. What a selection! Every kind of fresh meat, cheese, produce you can imagine. And they have a great selection of organic and gourmet items. They also carry the "standard" grocery store stuff, but really.....if you're looking for something unique, if you can't find it here, you don't need it! Sadly, this is not convenient for me for most of my grocery shopping. But for those times that I need something special, I will definitely make the effort to go by here on my way home from work. LOVE Wegmans anywhere you find it. It is like a date for me to go to Wegmans and slowly and methodically go up and down nearly every aisle buying things I never even knew I needed. Pink Himalayan salt with a grater? Sure. Ginger and honey crystals in the tea aisle. Absolutely. Santa hats for the Great Danes - tres' cute. Charcuterie and olives and gourmet cheese - PLEASE. The produce is fresh. The bakery is amazing. The meats and seafood like going to a fish monger or butcher. Need a hostess gift? This is where you'll find something FAR from humdrum. I was frantically trying to find two smaller 12 lb turkeys but all I could find were the 15 lb or higher. My frustration did not go unnoticed by Paul S. who works at there. Used to visit Wegmans when visiting family in upstate NY, but now we have our own!! The selections in the bakery and meat departments are phenomenal and if you are short on time, the prepared meals are reasonably priced and fairly tasty. I only wish I lived closer for those short drop-in trips to the store. Whenever I'm in Crofton I do a major shop there. I even have a friend who drives 40 minutes each way to do her shopping at Wegmans. I have always found the employees to be friendly and helpful. I'd never been to a Wegman's till this place opened. I work right down the street from it so I came through a few days after it opened. I was assuming it was just another grocery store, but I was underestimating by a lot. It was like, a small farmer's market right when I walked it. Huge salad bar, wing bar, all kinds of ready-to-eat foods. The bakery is also pretty big, with an extremely large variety of fabulous-looking baked goods. The produce section is equally as huge and aesthetically pleasing. It was really crowded when I went the first time, probably because it'd just opened, but I've been back since for lunch with co-workers and it was less crazy. As far as the grocery portion on the place, they have just about anything you could need. I'd been searching for a certain type of sugar at every grocery store in my area for a few weeks, and this place had it! I was super happy. I can't speculate on the prices since I haven't actually grocery shopped here, but this is the first place I'd check for something not at the other places. As a trial, I have shopped at this store for the past three months. First let me say that the lay out of this store is maddening. Why would you put frozen food in the middle of the store? The flow pattern is designed to keep you in the store as long as possible searching for the obscure areas that they put things. It took me about four visits until I knew where I needed to go. I should have known it was going to be confusing when I saw the mini directories hanging from chains at the ends of the aisles. Another problem is the lack of choice when it comes to something simple things like flour tortillas. You have the wegmans brand and the wegmans brand. Speaking of the store brand foods - not very good. Their version of V8 juice tastes like someone waved a stalk of celery over tomato juice. Their cereal is just ok, most times you are better off buying the name brand, but there goes your savings. If you want to buy nothing but organic, go here. If you want to overspend on meat that is displayed in a pretty case, go here. If you want to spend too much on store prepared foods, go here. The food bars resemble all the cheap takeout places that are all over DC. The sushi is about the same as what you can find at Safeway or Walmart. On the upside, they do get you through the check out fairly quickly and their baked potato salad is really good. I just can't see what all the fuss is about. read more

This Wegmans is awesome. I was use to going to the small town Wegmans in upstate New York but the stores that are opening in this area are massive and great. Great produce (organic), good selection of natural foods and supplements, and a food bar/café (which I don't frequent). You could get lost in the maze of free samples, the smells from the bakery and the crowds of people but it's still a good place to go. It does get crowded often so I would suggest going later in the day on the weekend or early in the morning. They open at 6am and close at midnight. read more

Grocery stores have improved dramatically over the decades. They are truly super. For a grocery store to stand out over everyone else is a tough thing to do. Well, Wegman's has done this. The seafood section blows away all other supermarkets in this area alone. The humongous buffet, pay by the pound, is quite extensive. I like wegmans. We cannot get out of this store without spending $100. Even when we run in for 2 items. Produce is great, cheese selection is top notch. But heres my problems: 1. Layout. Or lack of flow. When you go in it follows no pattern of hitting up dry foods, then refrigerated or frozen. Produce is in the middle, frozen is in the front, meat is to the left, and dry gooda in the middle behind frozen. So everyone has no flow through the store and your constantly bumping carts with everyone else equally confused. 2. Hot bar. Awesome at opening. But then they scaled back to only refreshing certain items during "non peak hours" 2-5 and sometimes at 11:30 the food is only half brought out. So I stopped spending $10 on my pre shopping lunch. It has missed the mark alot latley. 3. Meat section. If you go in for one specific item, say beef cubes for stirfry/stew is hit or miss if they actually will have them out. If its not the prepped food of the week-probally not. They have the case items and a few cuts on the regular refrigerated section. More variety at safeway, giant, or shoppers. Wegmans is the mother-flippin bomb. I don't care what anyone else says. I'm from upstate NY (where Wegmans originated), so I have a right to say it. I love all Wegmans, but this location has a nicer layout than the one in Lanham. Awesome hot food selections, clean store, well-organized.. they have a huge organic section, which we always frequent. I love the salad bar, sushi, and baked goods the most. Wegmans has everything you need. It's really a one-stop shopping kind of place. We often come here for dinner because the hot food is so good!!! This location is open until Midnight.. um, is anything else in the entire town of Crofton open this late? Probably not. The one in my hometown is open 24 hours. I used to go there for medications when all other stores were closed. I've been shopping here with my family since I was a toddler (28 years now?). It's been my lifetime favorite supermarket. One of the joys of living in the suburbs that I do not get to enjoy is having access to a gigantic grocery store like Wegmans. Wegmans reminds me a lot of my beloved Central Market in Texas. I love that Wegmans carries high quality, organic foods but is not too pompous to carry common popular brands such as Coca-Cola, Colgate, and even Elf make up. The prices are not cheap but very reasonable for the quality and freshness. Even though I don't live close enough to Wegmans- I still decided to sign up for their frequent shopper card and was surprised to get a coupon for a free reusable bag and basting oil. Hooray! I immediately went back in line to cash out my free bag even though I had already purchased all of my groceries. Wegmans has outstanding customer service as well. This location is tucked on the left side of the shopping plaza, directly behind the strip mall of shops that contain Loft. Here are some items that I got from last night: 1. Fresh salsa $5- not cheap but taste great 2. NY Strip $7.99/lbs- actually the same price as Costco so no complaints here! 3. So Delicious Sweetened Coconut Milk $3-something- my beverage of choice (I swear it helped me pass the bar) 4. Maxwell House Instant Vanilla Latte $3- cheaper than Harris Teeter and filled with corn syrup (just the way I like it!) 5. Olives from the bar- this was a little soft for my taste but the bright green ones were excellent 6. Organic Beets $2.99/bunch of three beets- great for juicing and puns 7. Kind Bars Cranberry & Almonds $14/12 bars- these are so addicting because they taste like candy yet they are good for you 8. Ribena concentrate $6.99- black currant juice was my most awesome discovery when I spent a summer abroad. Its naturally sweet, refreshing, and offers more antioxidants than grape juice. I am excited to try this concentrate version. I probably could buy a lot more items if I made more money, but Wegmans quality groceries is worth the splurge. Grocery shopping is one of life's tasks that I would love to outsource. Wegmans, however, makes the chore bearable. The customer service is out of this world. The butcher will split meat in a package for you, the deli clerk will come to the floor to show you where something is and they have staff that will walk you to your car, holding an umbrella over you, when it's raining. The food selection is better than other stores around, reminds me more of Whole Foods than the regular grocery chains. The layout of the store is not my favorite, but I've learned where most things are at this point. read more

The morning staff at the coffee and pastry shop are never ready come 8am and one particular lady is always ride. Wegmans is a crazy awesome grocery store and cafe! If I worked in this area, I'd be here every day for lunch. The hot bars are so tempting and good, I couldn't resist and got a small container to go along with my groceries. They have italian, sushi, bakery, asian, wings, everything you could think of all ready and prepared for your mouth to enjoy! It was really crowded when I went on a Sunday, so obviously, my complaint is that they needed to plan for more foot traffic and carts by making wider aisles but other than that, I can't really complain. They literally had everything I needed. The seafood set up was pretty cool. I liked watching the fish get butchered, lobsters cut up and all that jazz. It's nice to know that it's being done fresh and sanitary. They seem a tad overpriced but I guess you're paying for the experience as well... Whole Foods has had my heart for years.... now Wegman's moved in. Awesome selection...You could easily spend a few days just trying to check out everything and the prepared food buffet... soooooo much variety and fresh. A foodie/s paradise when you want something quick but not any fast food joint. We went on a Sat afternoon and they had entertainment there singing cover songs of different genres...he was not too shabby. I DO however think.. $8.49lb is way too pricey. What can I say? It's a great store! I'd give it 5 stars, but unfortunately nothing can ever compare to my grocery store that I was born and raised with Publix. Also, only giving it a 4 star rating for the fact that if you're not there during the daytime, goodluck in the evening attempting to find anything in the produce areas. It always looks as if there was a blizzard or hurricane coming and everyone ran out and bought anything they could get their hands on. The bakery is awesome, they have a great selection of artisan breads. Deserts in my opinion are a bit pricey, ($5.00 for a cup of banana pudding, really??) Meat selections of fresh fish is great, as well as their array of prepared foods. Floral department is beautiful, so many options to chose from and the staff is always ready to help box up your purchase, or wrap them in paper. I do just wish they'd have a better deli selection (Boar's Head please). Again, the only place to shop compared to the competition around it. The large selections and exemplary customer service keeps me coming back. I once needed to purchase a small block of ricotta salata for an Italian pasta dish I planned to make and the prepackaged options they had were more than I needed and so they repackaged one of them with just the right amount for me. This Wegmans is a little too far from my house to go to regularly, so I only come here rarely. Every time I do shop here, though, I'm consistently impressed at the selection and the customer service. The store is enormous, big enough to get lost in, and sometimes it can be a challenge just to figure out which wing of the store the thing you need is in, let alone which aisle. However, if you ask any of the employees where to find something, they can point you in the right direction. Wegmans is one of the only large chain grocery stores out there that still caters to people who cook from scratch, and I always find everything on my list there, even ingredients that I have never before seen outside of specialty stores, like whole vanilla beans. It is a little more expensive than my local grocery stores, but since I don't come here regularly, I consider shopping at Wegmans a good way to occasionally treat myself. read more

These just ask anyone in the store for anything & they will move mountains to find / help you. My experience consisted of asking 2 separate people at separate stations to help me locate things one was duck fat for delicious roast potatos i cannot remember the other but these guys just went of searching for the stuff for me while i continued shopping like it was all in a days work i think one was in the cheese section & helped me find nut craker the other was a butcher who went to the other sie of the store for the duck fat while i was at the food bar. I freaking LOVE wegmans. So much to see and try. My only issue is the crazy high prices on most items but most people know beforehand that it's not a cheap place. If you want cheap go to Aldis. I shop there too. If you want organic and good quality foods and products, come here. While their hot food bar is ridiculously pricey...the food is OFF THE CHAIN good. Asian, Indian, American, Mexican, Italian. Whatever your heart fancies. They even sell delicious fresh sushi....and in a family size too if you need a larger amount.. I just love this place. The organic veggies taste so darn good especially their cabbage. It's the best I've ever had in my life. I like to make fried cabbage with caramelized onions and I also cook some of their organic pork smoked sausage and add it in there for a simple and low carb dish. It's amazingly decadent! Also for those people who are in low carb diets/lifestyles and want a sweet treat that won't make you comatose or send your blood sugar into high gear, try the Halo Top Ice Cream. First let me say the marketing team behind wegmans are very good at what they do. I really like that wegmans has good alternative options with organics and health food. the deli area is also a great concept. Most of the fish is farm raised which being a Marylander is not acceptable. The marketing strategy makes the food shopping areas look look more appealing, but it is really filled with the same stuff any super market has. I always see in every shop like wegmans the milk and dairy are all ultra pasteurized along with homogenized which makes anything they sell nutrient deficient. It seems that anywhere we go, this is the direction our nation is moving in. Cheap healthcare is needed when everyone becomes sick from the food which does not supply our bodies with the needed intake of vitamins and minerals. pasteurization is when they heat the product above 140 degrees (which is bad enough) homogenization is when they electrify it ( which means death to the good bacteria) if you venture to any store in this country make sure you pay a visit to the vitamin section, because you will need it. read more

I didnt think it though. I got the entree, but it's cold. So I heat in the microwave? They sell entree meant to be taken elsewhere, but it's in a tray to eat here. Anywho, the microwave was dark and quite then I opened the door and the light and fan comes on. Scared the shit out of me. So I tested it and it sounds the same running as it does with door open. So I am not using shittly user exp designed microwave. BTW have to walk around to get to outside seating even though there are doors those doors are emergency only. By far the worst Wegmans experience I have ever had. I am proud to say that the Woodmore Wegmans makes this place look like food lion (no shade). I have learned a valuable lesson, don't leave your county to go to another county to avoid traffic. Never once would I thought that I had to quit the Wegmans food bar but I think a small strike is needed after I found the worlds longest piece of hair in my mouth after what I thought was fresh coconut shrimp. I mean I waited for a fresh batch and everything. I knew something was up when I saw the employee with hair down her back and only a thin visor but I didn't trust my gut. I was given a full refund and was sure to let the manager know that this place looks nothing like my neighborhood Wegmans but with a hungry kid it's hard to say ummmm lets get back in the car. Wegmans - How I left everything after finding the worlds longest piece of hair in my food - Grocery Near Me - Gambrills, Maryland

This is a pretty solid Wegmans. I like the Market Cafe area which was completely new to me until the last time I went there. I just never paid attention. The thing that they lack is a good bakery section. The Wegmans locations that I've frequented in New Jersey seemed to have much more variety with their bakery department. The last time I went to this location, I wanted to pick up a 12-pack of cupcakes for a coworker's birthday. All that was out for display were cupcakes with vanilla frosting. I asked the guy who worked in the bakery if they had any cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate frosting. He went in the back, came back, and said no. However, there have been times when I've gotten cupcakes here and there was a mix of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with chocolate and vanilla frosting. So pretty much, their bakery is inconsistent and a hit or miss. You might find something one day and a few days later it's not there. Moving forward, I will place an order in advance.
