Shout out to David's for having an amazing selection of vegetarian options that you just can't get anywhere else. They have all the veg. Better than Bouillon, and they recently started carrying Chunk alternative meat products, which I was ordering online, and shipping was crazy expensive. They also carry everything Bob's Red Mill makes, as far as I can tell, and they've got a great selection of bulk products in the back of the store. The Good: Do you like organic fruits & vegetables? Fresh Organic beef from local farmers? All types of herbs, spices, and three different types of Irish Moss(Purple, Green & Gold)? If your answer to any of those questions were yes then you should definitely check out David's Natural Market. I should also add that this facility is easily one of the cleanest grocery stores you'll ever visit. The bad: On rare occasions this local gem suffers from lack of customer service. Not that anybody is rude bc I'd be lying if I said that they were, but sometimes when I go there I feel invisible. I started coming here back in 2019, but stopped because I just really didn't like the customer service. Actually it was the lack of customer service in comparison to other customers. I would see staff make special orders for products that they didn't carry, and go out of there way to accommodate. Then when I ask a simple "where is this" question I got a finger point, or just the most minimal unenthused answers. When I first started shopping here I didn't pay it any mind, but coming on a biweekly basis I realized that it wasn't just me being over presumptive. On top of that I knew I could find similar items for less elsewhere. The only thing I was missing out on was the convenience of this location being right down the street. read more

I really like this place however I have found that the prices are not very competitive for what you can find if you piece meall the things that you are looking for. I received a coupon and a welcome to the neighborhood basket so I was very eager to try this place out. This staff seemed very friendly and there is a plethora of products that you can find for just about anything from gifts to spices to sustainable items. The one thing I will say is I think they have the most delicious milk that is there and almost makes it worth it for the 20 minute drive. David's Natural Market is the place I go to when I am looking for something specific. An example would be a specific vitamin or essential oil. Certainly, I shop here for organic and natural foods when I am in the area. They have a decent selection of organic (and sometimes local) vegetables. Some of the vegetables available are going to be items not readily available at your typical grocery store. I got small yellow patty pan squash there on time! When I visit, I look to walk through all of the isles and check out all the different kinds of goods they have for sale. I usually pick up different brands of hummus there too! I would have given this place 5 stars, if it weren't for the less than stellar customer service at the checkout... When I was ready to check out, I had to have somebody from the store call the woman over to check me out because I guess she thought I was standing looking at the checkout area for my health... ‍ Then when I do go to checkout, she clearly has an additude (lol), doesn't say anything, and proceeds to make me put my own things in the bag by putting my bag at the end and saying "here".. I had 3 small items to put in... It couldn't have been any easier to bag... lol I just don't people sometimes... However, when I walked in, I was greeted and helped by every person I walked past, and they knew where everything was! They were helpful, friendly, and also gave me space to look for for what I wanted to.. I drove past here a few times and knew right away that I wanted to check it out. I ended up getting a coupon in the mail, which ultimately got me in the door. I have to eat gluten free due to celiac, and this store has SO many gluten free products, by far the most GF offerings out of any store around. They also had a lot of amazing deals and items on sale. I didn't find the prices for other items too outrageous either, they seem pretty on par with other grocery stores. They have a full offering of groceries including produce, meat, pantry items, snacks, frozen items, household, baby food/supplies, pet food/supplies, a bulk section, and more. I did notice that the staff doesn't go out of there way to ask if they can help you find something. But the cashier I encountered was very friendly, the space was bright and clean, and parking was very easy! I can't wait to go back! read more

I honestly thought I had reviewed David's before now!! I always seek a natural food store (or more than one) when landing in a new place. So I found David's nearly two years ago ... how remiss of me not to extol its virtues before now! ;) You can find pretty much anything here, and if you can't, they will order stuff for you! Every staff person is knowledgeable and friendly, and ever so helpful. The array of supplements is staggering, so I don't even try - I just find someone and ask. I love buying bulk spices and herbs here - so great when you only need a tablespoon of something to try a recipe. I've been helped more than once by David himself, and what a nice man! He seems to genuinely care about customers and not just for the money. Also, be sure to try a sandwich from the back corner "deli". The staff are super nice and they have an amazing selection of organic fruits and vegetables, unusual vegan and gluten free varieties, a fantastic sale section, not to mention tons of herbs and vitamins. A special little place in Odenton. I wish I could afford all my grocery shopping here but alas, I cannot. They have a little bit of everything - local meats, produce, prepared foods and supplements. I have never purchased anything from the back deli but that is always booming when I run in. If you are looking for any "unique" ingredients, chances are they carry it. They have GREAT options for gluten-free frozen items and tons of dairy-free​​ cheeses and yogurts. This is usually what I run in for. They have tons of great brands of packaged snacks and goods and their produce, while expensive - is great. Everyone I've encountered here is so helpful and I love running in to grab a few things! Today I was in to buy an item and when I asked if they had any in the back the cashier actually said I accused her of stashing the item when all wanted to ask is if a new shipment hadn't been put out yet! When you reach this market, the first thing you see is a massive parking lot with a few cars. If you get here by bike or mass transit, kudos for that. The store is large, much larger than most small co-op or natural market stores. When you walk in, you are greeted by many options for beverages. There are also some bread products and then a ton of produce. The prices are high for some but really terrific for others! So, if you go with an open mind, it is better for your wallet. There are a good number of vegan, raw and gluten free items. However, some prepared vegan foods are right next to the meat.... Unappetizing if you ask me... There is an entire aisle of gluten free food- it is very impressive. Good number of bulk choices, and you can get some dried herbs and grind coffee, too. Ground nut butters are fresh here, too. What a great store! I could have seen myself coming there for local honey, sushi and other staples. We had a great time browsing and ended up spending $65. We went to Gambrills location. First time, just moved here. The staff acted as if someone just died and we were a bother ( me and my husband and 9 and 11 year old. My 11!year old daughter went off and found a cookie and put it in the cart. Then went browsing and the cashier actually accused her of stealing the cookie! I am floored at this.. my daughter is upset and has never heard of such a thing. Just blown away. Then we check out and I ask a couple questions and same cashier is short with us.. well.. doesn't look like this place will be revisited. So sad.. cool place. read more

We drove out of our way to visit both David's markets for years. We love it, not the best selection of veggies, but they do source locally, and sometimes just nail it. Big selection of health items, and variety of niche items we love. It has a bit of an old country store vibe which we like. The employees are not like the superficial folks at big name grocery stores, so no fancy/unnecessary stuff. I can see how some might think they can be rude because they react normally; show respect and get it back. Also, the prices are very high, no doubt; but this keeps many people away. We like being able to shop in something of an exclusive atmosphere, you don't get panhandlers, or cheap skates; there's no membership card or other BS, just high prices. Please don't shop here, we want to keep this secret place to ourselves. May they stay in business another 30 years! read more

I love going to this market whenever I visit my sister who lives about two miles away. It has the feel of an old school, small town grocery store--because that's exactly what it is--yet the items are mostly organic and geared for the health conscious consumer. There is none of the attitude on the part of the shoppers or the people working there that is so much a part of the branding of that other full-size organic grocery store out of Texas that need not be named. David's closes kind of early (8:00 during the week and 6:00 or 7:00 on the weekend), but I don't begrudge folks getting home to their families earlier rather than later. Last time I was there I went up to the deli counter and rang the bell for service and then noticed that the deli hours were only until 3. Even though it was well after 4:00 someone stocking the shelves happily came over to assist me and made sure I got everything I wanted. Now that's service! Other standouts here are the bulk foods aisle that has every kind of rice, nut, or grain you could want. David's proves once again that bigger is not always better, and I'm happy to spend my money there knowing that it's a locally owned business doing its part to support local agriculture. read more

David's is literally sandwiched in between a pasture and some spread out residential properties, but that makes it cool for a couple reasons. One, there's plenty of parking and two, you definitely feel more connected with your food. Every time I went in, it smelled so good. They make hot sandwiches and cookies in the back deli so it smells like home. The good thing about David's is that they carry a lot of local, organic produce. Depending on the supply, the prices fluctuate, but local produce is always the better option. Their selection is not as great as Whole Foods, but they carry what is in season and what is available, so your food doesn't travel so far and lose freshness or damage the planet. They really do carry a lot of great, natural products. If you have a gluten-intolerance, they have almost an entire isle dedicated to gluten-free products. David's has a huge selection of supplements and natural remedies as well as essential oils that can be hard to find. Their tea selection is unrivaled. Seriously, they have almost half of an isle stocked with all kinds of tea. That's one of my favorite isles. You may see stuff here you haven't seen anywhere else, but that's part of the fun. David's also carries books, water filters and more if you need something other than food, although, I really like the food part. The carnivore in me likes the Garrett Farm turkey jerky, the herbivore loves the sweet peas shoots and the vegan is crazy about the Carob-covered almonds. I really wish I had some of those right now. The cashiers are helpful and friendly, albeit some are a little strange and you should expect to pay more than you would at a conventional grocery store or Whole Foods. But what makes David's great is their hard to find items. read more

I meant to leave a review for this place earlier. It kind of has a 90's health food store vibe. It's kind of messy and things are thrown about haphazardly, floors are dirty, some items are coated in dust, but there are many options for specialized diets. Produce looked hit or miss. They price-gouged on some hand sanitizer at the beginning of the pandemic (like $20 for a medium-sized bottle of homemade hand sanitizer). Customer service isn't great. It's a shame there's not a nicer option like Roots, MOM's, or Whole Foods this way. They get an extra star for having an adequately-sized parking lot. read more

I like that there is a natural market so close to where I live, I generally stop in for natural medicine and their soup is fresh and tasty when I feel a cold coming on. I prefer a Trader Joe's or store that has their own brands and this market has higher prices but definitely has the organic and natural thing going for them. The old IGA of Gambrills is now David's. I like David's. It's not too big like Whole Foods but not a tiny place like a lot of health stores. The prices can be a bit high, especially compared to MOMs. The clearance section is typically expired goods so if that bothers you watch out. The meat/seafood selection is good and I don't think the prices are bad for quality meat and seafood. They do carry some local products so that is a plus. You can get hot food to go, there is a small deli, and sandwiches/sushi. If you go and have the time, compare prices to MOMs (no I don't work for MOMs but I do love it). read more

I've lived in this general area for pretty much my whole life, and passed David's countless times. I confess my interest in this whole 'organic' fad got piqued a bit, so one day I said 'What the heck?', and popped in here. I've made many trips back since then, I love this place! It's not big on the inside, but it's not cluttered, either. They have everything you could possibly need if all of your grocery shopping was to be done here, even local meats. I tend to come here before hiking trips to get some natural, energizing snacks for the trail. The best part, to me, is the deli they have in the back. Their sandwiches are fantastic, good portions of your chosen accoutrements at a great price. So much better than the thin, processed and pre-packaged crap you get at a chain grocery store. read more

I love coming to David's. They tend to have local produce in season and a good selection of hard to find items (gluten free, etc). Their prices can be more pricey than others for certain things but I have also found some items cheaper here than Whole Foods. I also really like the fact that they have farm eggs, local yogurt, and milk in glass bottles. They have some packaged food here so if you're looking for a quick bite to eat you can definitely find something here - especially if you're a vegan.
