The mission was simple: get one thing. I even grabbed the small carry cart to prove I was serious. That was mistake number one. The moment we walked in, Mom stopped at the very first display like she had been hired to inspect it. That's when I realized she set me up. I picked the wrong cart, and she knew it. The store itself was impressive -- bright, clean, and packed with every food item known to mankind. Honestly, it was a little too packed. Every aisle felt like it was competing for "Most Stuff in One Space." But everything looked fresh: Meat Seafood Produce All looked like they were posing for a magazine. The Bakery: The Trap We Walked Into The bakery was the star of the store -- managed by a Black woman who was professional, friendly, and on point. She stopped what she was doing to check on us, and that's when the trouble began. The bakery was loaded with: Cakes Cupcakes Cookies Desserts that looked illegal And they were running a sale. A dangerous, wallet‑threatening sale. Mom and I stood there for what felt like hours, mouths watering, debating desserts like we were choosing stocks. We bought way too many. I blame the sale. And the frosting. And the smell. And the display. Basically everything. The Full Store Tour (Thanks to Mom) Mom and her walker inspected every single section of the store. Every. Single. One.I'm convinced she saw things the employees didn't know existed. By the time we reached checkout, my carry cart was overflowing like I had robbed the place. Another Black woman walked us to her register -- also professional, also engaging, also packing our bags like she was building a sculpture. She explained the discounts we received, which made the total hurt a little less. We walked out with two full bags, my hands full, and my "one item" dream shattered. This was our one and only time (so far) purchasing anything from here so my review is limited to this one experience. Expect sticker shock if you're getting a tree (but I think that's true anywhere). The tree we got was absolutely beautiful and perfectly shaped. We didn't even have to trim it when we got it home! The staff was very friendly, prepped the tree for us and tied it to our car. They do have a fresh foods counter in the back, and they also offer fresh and frozen produce up front. I got a great haul, enough to make a fantastic salsa verde with some fresh tomatillos, jalepenos, lime, and cilantro. Yum! It went well with the frozen tostones! The refrigerated/freezer section spans the right side of the store, and is filled with all kinds of goodies. They have a check cashing booth to the rear left of the store, not far from their meat section, where they have a bunch of different cuts on display. I found many items that my family uses regularly, and it's awesome to now have something in the area, in stead of having to run out to Laurel or New Carrolton to make special purchases. I really hope that people take the time to check this place out. This staff is friendly, and helpful. This market was much needed in this area. Generally I always walk away with something. Usually 20 vendors or more and the list of vendors is posted on FB so I follow their page to check on when my favorites are there. Parking- is easy even with a full lot, its on their property with almost no need for walking. Very close. Accessibility- okay for stroller that have bigger tires, maybe less for umbrella strollers. It's all grass so wheelchairs may be hit or miss depending on arm strength. Bathrooms - Portapottys are available. Only negative is as a bunny mom I didn't love they had bunnies out on display for the kids and didn't have a cooling bottle (frozen bottle of ice) to keep the bunnies cool. This is not uncommon especially for a farm. I gave them a cold bottle I had. Afterwards I never saw the bunny out since I'd been back so perhaps they took heed? The Farmers Market opens in May and closes for the season in November. My top 3 vendors, Sugar Butter Love, DMV Empanadas, and the Goats Milk Soap vendor - sorry can't remember their name.
