I have gone here for 4 different issues over the years, and each time, Carlos has taken great care of me and my electronics. I discovered this place when I needed a repair on my Mac desktop and that other place on McHenry closed down. Wish I had found this place sooner - less pretentious and better priced. I came back when I was considering an upgrade to my Mac and Carlos gave me some objective feedback about what to do, based on my specific circumstances, without considering whether it would be to his advantage or not. In the end, I bought a new Mac and didn't require any other services. A few years later, even though it seemed like a busy day, Carlos fixed my shattered iPhone screen for $45 in less than 30 minutes without an appointment! Most recently, I returned for a water repair on the same phone. Carlos took care to do only as much as was needed to diagnose the problem without charging for any additional services. He was able to recommend that I needed a new phone after $15 worth of labor. Goes to show that a business can be successful in the long run by being trustworthy, rather than trying to squeeze every dollar they can from potential clients. I called WeFixLaptops to inquire about switching out the old hard drive on my 2009 iMac with a solid state drive (SSD). Carlos was professional and very helpful in answering all my questions, and I immediately felt comfortable. The next morning, after purchasing a 1TB SSD (on sale at Best Buy for ~$330), I took our Mac to WeFixLaptops. Carlos was not there, but Dave was and he was just as friendly and helpful. Before the end of the same business day, Carlos called me back to let me know that my computer was all done! He installed the new SSD, added more RAM and installed a new operating system ALL for under $120!!! He even cleaned the dust that had been building up inside. Amazing! I brought my laptop into the shop yesterday to see if they would be able to fix my broken screen. I spoke with the owner when I walked through the door, and he immediately assessed the damage. He explained that in addition to being able to fix the screen, that I would be able to pick up my laptop in less that an hour. An hour? Really? I was hoping to have it back within a few days. That was a really nice surprise. I left the shop, and within 30 minutes my cell phone was ringing. The screen had been replaced and was ready to be picked up. Now that's what I call customer service!! My laptop looked as good as new, and at $120, the price was very reasonable. The owner was professional, friendly and extremely knowledgable. He seemed very genuine about wanting to deliver good customer service, and wanting his customers to leave happy. As promised, I'm updating my review to reflect the overall experience with We Fix Laptops. I was able to pick up the computer a couple of days later, and other than running slower than usual, it's working fine and virus free! I spoke to Carlos (the owner of the shop), and he stands behind his work. He's let me know that if we're not happy, he's not happy. I came here to get my Mac laptop fixed. One thing I must say is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I dropped off my laptop because it was having issues staying powered on and it took them two weeks to diagnose my laptop. I would call occasionally to check the status on my laptop and they would never answer the phone and would take days to give you a call back. Eventually my laptop was diagnosed and the cost to repair was $500. Diagnosis is $70. I was reminded twice to pick up my laptop which I have yet to pick up. I called and texted yesterday to pick up my laptop and the message was left read with no reply. I tried calling but couldn't leave a voicemail because a voicemail box was not set up. I tried calling again today and my calls go straight to "no voicemail box has been set up error". I do not recommend this business what so ever. read more

I have to say that I am extremely impressed with these guys. Normally, I would hesitate since I am not familiar with these guys with my laptop but since they have one of the highest rating on Yelp, I thought I would give them a try. They were VERY professional and honest. My cat inadvertently dragged the power cord to my laptop and broke some connection between the monitor and the keyboard on my laptop. Took my laptop in there for repair , it wouldn't start up. I found it really funny how I had to be the actual input all my information into a keyboard in order to become a customer with the company they told me my laptop would be ready in 48 hours . They never called. 4 days later I went in to pick up my laptop the gentleman pulled up my account and had absolutely no idea how much to charge me he asked me if I knew how much I was quoted to be charged. During the time of pick up he made sure that I knew that he absolutely was in love with a singer Johnny Cash he was telling me what a great singer he was. Long story short. In a word. E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T. The wife's laptop, the one with EVERYTHING on it - hadn't been backed up in several months because the Windows Backup software was getting an error - so I bought a new machine, but hadn't made the swap yet... Until our 10th Anniversary Weekend, and it died on a BSOD. Uh oh. Excessive procrastination...? Removed the battery, unplugged it from everything, let it cool down, attempt to power own many, many times, but it won't boot to BIOS no matter what I tried. Crap... After the sheer terror of my situation subsided. I tore open the HP laptop, and removed the drive. I surfed and found that for $27 I could buy a USB 2.0 to Sata / IDE Adapter Cable to connect the drive to my IBM laptop. Then I downloaded the Seagate Date Recovery Software on trial basis. Took me a few hours of digging; where I was faced with a fractured directory, with names like dir001 and dir002, and damaged file names as well. A complete mess, but I grabbed everything that might be useful. My primary goal was accomplished after getting 6 of her 7 QuickBooks files. However, 1 remained lost... That one was critical. I didn't want to send our very valuable drive out for 2-3 weeks in the mail hoping that some big warehouse full of techs that they'd get to "our" problem... That was very scary. In accounting, 2-3 weeks is a long, long, long time. Because someone wants to be paid, and your accounting system provides your net balance. Without that, you might bounce checks. And, that's very bad. We also risk that they CAN'T get at the data even after waiting. So, I figured that I would rather hand someone my drive and talk to them. In person. I also didn't want to get in line to get a Customer "number" at a but "Computer Service Center". I needed a small "smart" shop, and lots of luck. ... I yelped for Computer Repair, finding Wefixlaptop - at 5 Stars, and near my work; I figured that's a good option as any. I dropped by that afternoon, and by 4pm the very next day, their Magicians had dug into my drive and got what they figure to be better than 99% of what was available! That's H-U-G-E. Whew! Looks like I won't be killed by the wife tonight after all... Then... they showed me the contents of the drive. When I saw that the whole directory structure was fully intact, and the files I needed were on the drive, I was convinced and very, very relieved. They said that they would finish the analysis by the next day; and would call me. They called, saying it was ready, and that did I want to bring my own backup drive, or did I want to buy one they would load up? Lesson I should have figured out ahead of time WHERE I wanted to put 500GB+ of data if we were successful. To save time I should have handed them a backup drive or made arrangements to just buy a drive and have them load what they could as it was recovered - would have saved me 24 hours... That next afternoon (I work M-F), I dropped by with my drive, and they loaded it up overnight and I picked it up. Then I copied it to the wife's new laptop, opened the "lost" QuickBooks file - finding it was perfectly intact. The very file that Seagate didn't find.... You should feel safe here; they know what they're doing -- based on my 37 years of mainframe experience. Give them time to get it done; and they will do. I did not have a computer repaired but needed to have soldering work done on two separate occasions for my gaming machine motherboards. Carlos, did the job on the same day each time. I was shocked that he said no charge. However, I insisted that I pay a fair fee for his service. If I ever do need to have a computer repaired I will be sure to stop at his shop. read more

Highly recommend this place! Have the pleasure of Carlos servicing my computers in the past. Saw he opened up his own place and will always keep coming back. Brought in a mid 2012 MacBook Pro that started to get a little sluggish. Carlos was quick to go over the different options that could be done. Recommended me to upgrade to an SSD drive, mentioned adding some RAM would also allow to do more multitasking and ever helped me find the cheapest price for the parts. Came by a week later with the parts and laptop and was told to pick it up in a few days. Gave my a ring and back to the store I was, he handed back the old Ram and Hard Drive and told me he transferred my account over to the new drive and had installed the latest OS on the drive. Did a little testing myself and from the boot screen could already see a huge difference. He even mentioned he clean out the fans. My Laptop is still going strong 2 years after Carlos fixed it! I meant to write a glowing yelp review 2 years ago but got busy and never did it. Carlos diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and replaced the mother board in record time and only charged my $175 - I was so grateful I gave him $200 and said I'd give him 5 stars on yelp. Extending the life of my laptop for 2 years (and counting) is proof to me that Carlos knows what he's doing. So why am I writing this review now? Went in to get my broken power jack fixed. The owner replaced a broken power jack, and also went above and beyond by fixing a broken hinge on my laptop. All work was done in about an hour and he only charged me 49$! Highly Recommend this place and will be returning. read more

About a month ago, I took my HP DV7 to Wefixlaptop because it would receive power, but the screen would stay black/off. I had a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine with a broken start button. I did a search online and found out that it was probably my micro switch on the computer board.
