First time diners for dinner on 08/10/2024. Loved the whole at. We were seated at the very top level, so cool. I think it'd be cool if they had small speakers at the table to hear the movies, if you wanted to. We had the Angry Lobster and bread basket for apps. Delicious. We all had different entrees and were all very good and tasty. Of course the libations didn't disappoint either. The icing on the cake was our server, Jordyn. A picturesque data night atmosphere. We started with the angry lobster appetizer. Decadent and rich but the lobster texture was perfect. We then had the most beautiful side salad. Followed by Beef short ribs with perfect sides for my hubby. I had the luscious sea bass on the risotto. Let's talk about the one thing that was off. The texture of the risotto was close, but not quite there. Our server didn't tell us about the specials but made up for it when they were out of sea bass, but magically made some appear. Our dinner here was a real treat! The ambience is very fun and modern, and the service was excellent from the moment we entered. We started with the cheesy bread, which absolutely blows all other cheesy breads out of the water. The cheesy bread here is slices of a baguette topped with a phenomenal melted blend of four cheeses; it's incredibly rich and gooey, and I highly recommend it. I also got the special soup of the day, which was a unique Asian-inspiried soup with duck confirm, shiitake mushrooms, shaved brussel sprouts, and a slightly spicy broth. My dinner companions shared a wedge salad, which was quite large -- definitely big enough for an entree if it's not being split between two or more people. For entrees, we got the Shrimp & Lobster Tortellachi, a filet mignon, and the Voodoo Shrimp and Grits. All were delicious. The steaks here are one of their best items, and the filet was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I very much enjoyed the tortellachi, which combined pasta, seafood, artichokes, and tomatoes in a phenomenal creamy sauce. I'd order it again in a heartbeat, if not for all the other things on the menu I want to try on my next visit! We ended the meal with the chocolate mousse cake. It's layers of devil's food cake with a chocolate cheesecake layer and a chocolate mousse layer, and it's lick-the-plate good. This place...let me tell you a classy restaurant all the way. Here to celebrate two birthdays we had our hearts set on the balcony seating on the upper level. But because of fire hazard and COVID restrictions we couldn't as there were 5 in our party , they only allow 4 upstairs. We were kinda upset about this but oh well those are the rules. Seated in a nice booth downstairs the manager came over to apologize and then offered us a bottle of Prosecco on the house. So a nice make up ! The bubbly was a great start to a phenomenal meal that lasted over 5 hours at this table! We had the best servers, Ro-Shaan started of first with us. So accommodating and super hospitable. Such a great guy. Trust me we kept him moving. Drinks...the Steve McQueen, their version of an old fashioned was awesome, as was the 4 mules for sister Sarah with the bourbon. The moulin rogue which is a cosmopolitan was also on point. I got the mad men Manhattan martini, bourbon, vermouth, bitters, cherry juice and a cherry, this was a loaded drink but so so good. We got here just in time for the brunch menu, we ordered a few small plates. The duck cigars, slow simmered confit of duck leg wrapped in spring roll wrapper, with three great dipping sauces. Duck was amazing , nice start. The fried green tomatoes also awesome, with fresh crab, and a great dilled tartare sauce. The truffle fries were awesome, nicely presented with lots of herbs on top. The mixed green salad we added grilled chicken, came with a fabulous balsamic vinaigrette. Lots of chicken came with this! The the scallops entree we shared skillet seared with fried green tomatoes, creamed corn and Tasso. The scallops were perfectly cooked. And all the trimmings were so well put together as all came together great. The risotto was another side we had , with spinach chèvre and bacon, nice Smokey flavor, and just creamy enough. Nice chunks of bacon on top. Final foodie item was a special, lobster tail, fried, oh so good. Definitely a great end to a great foodie experience. The asparagus also cooked just right and great hollandaise. More drinks, the Rosé was nice crisp and dry, and they gave a great pour. I got the Steve McQueen with my favorite angels envy bourbon, this was a outstanding drink, and others got the Negroni which came out looking awesome too and was ! Danny came along as our second server as we'd past into dinner shift! So we continued with him and he was awesome too. Manager also came by again to check in with us. As it was a birthday dinner dessert was a must! Everything sounded amazing, but we went with the coconut cake and the tuxedo cake. Both so moist and coconut rich and chocolate rich ...my favorite desserts. Enough for us all to share. Highly recommend everything we had and there was so much more. Webb custom kitchen is in historic downtown Gastonia, not anywhere I frequent often but it's worth driving for. Which was a 90 minute drive for me. In a old theater it's been there 5 years. The big screen plays old movies and trailers, and they've kept a lot of the theater things. The bar is a great place and like a great hang out place, pre COVID. The craft cocktails are named after movies or actors, kinda cool. It's still got a old time feel to the place. If you can get upstairs ! But call to check as COVID restrictions keep changing . The staff helped make this a special occasion for us. They even have us a card signed by everyone for our birthdays. Which was so unexpected and a nice surprise. Salads were awesome. Service was great. The seafood pasta was great. I got the Chilean sea bass served over risotto. The risotto was cold, my server took it back, it came back just barely warm. I just ate the fish. For $55 bucks I expected the sea bass to be on par with the rest of the meal. read more

Webb Custom Kitchen deserves 6 stars! This is such an incredible find here in Gastonia, NC. Walking in, we spotted 4 empty seats at the bar. Made ourselves comfortable as this outstanding bartender approached. His name was Logan. A true gentleman, mixologist. I had him make a great Manhattan. It was perfect! It's obvious he's happy working here. A pleasure to talk to. We left the bar to relocate to a table upstairs. I requested a table for four. The young lady brought us to the most perfect table. We had a quiet setting with a clear view of their movie screen. She seemed to know exactly what we wanted. Our waiter was Tom. Another asset to this great restaurant! He was exceptional! Knew the menu perfectly. Was very accommodating and gave us the needed time to read the menu and to visit amoung us. His timing was always perfect! I ordered the most delicious braised beef over Yukon mashed potatoes. Fork tender, full of flavor. I just loved every bite. It could not have been improved upon. The other three had two, separate orders of Spicy Tuna(Ahi). Both raved about their meal. Just enough heat, not too hot. My sister-in-law had the Shrimp with Farro. Brought her unfinished meal home and said she's looking forward to her lunch today. She obviously loved her dinner. The fun ending was when Chef Dylan Ferguson came to our table. We were stunned. He's another perfect addition to this company. He was sweet, a true, very humble, unselfish, gentleman! My brother said he was a genius! Dylan's menu is unique with a broad variety of perfect meals. I was duly impressed! Looking forward to another trip up here. I'll certainly make it a point to have another, incredible meal at Webb Custom Kitchen. I was overwhelmed! My fiancée and I came to Webb's on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm. There was a quite extensive wait for a regular table due to all of the prom reservations. We scoped out the area and decided to take a seat at the bar. Our bartender/waiter, Josh, was pretty awesome. He assisted us with most of our questions and also provided some recommendations. The service at Webb's was above average. I truly do believe the wait staff and management tried their best to satisfy us, but their food just doesn't meet the standard. Whereas the decor and renovated movie theater serves as a nice touch and comes off as upscale, our food was the opposite and quite unpleasant. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer. My fiancée had a taste for some crab cakes as an appetizer and Josh suggested that the Fried Green Tomatoes came with large lumps of crab as an alternative. So instead of ordering a main plate as an appetizer, we took Josh up on his recommendation. And, I must admit: these were the most tasteless and unseasoned green tomatoes I've ever eaten. It's almost as if the kitchen dumped a ton of corn over a few fried green tomatoes and threw some canned crab meat on them without even thinking about seasoning anything. We were so hungry that we assumed this was just an accident and the food would be better. We heard so many raving and outstanding reviews, we decided to stick around. My fiancée ordered the Voodoo Shrimp and Grits and I ordered the Charbroiled Lamb Chops for dinner. The Shrimp and Grits were tasty. The grits were cooked well and everything was seasoned from the shrimp to the roux. It was a smaller dish than we anticipated. Most places provide a larger serving of grits than Webb's to ensure that the shrimp to grits ration is proportionate. Webb's delivered on the shrimp, but was skimp on the grits. They also placed a few unseasoned green tomatoes in the middle of the dish as well. Now here's where things turned south. I ordered the Charbroiled Lamb Chops medium well. It's a dish I've ordered at many other (actual upscale) restaurants and one that I've even cooked before on my own Charbroiler. When I received my lamb, I bit into the first piece and it was a little more red than I was accustomed to, but I ate it. I cut into the next piece, and another one, and then all the rest of them; and to my surprise: they were all rare. I was completely confused. I told Josh and he sent the dish back to the kitchen. Traditionally, when the kitchen (in an actual upscale restaurant) messes your order up, they'll throw another steak, or lamb (in this case), on the grill and get it right. Nope, not Webb's. They turned the charbroiler up high and toughened and burned the lamb chops that I had sent back into the kitchen. When they returned them, I was so distraught and dissatisfied with my overcooked lamb that a manager came up and asked me if I would like to order something else on the menu. After going through all of that, I had loss my appetite. The only dish I could recall from the menu immediately was the salmon, so I ordered it. I asked for them to cook my salmon medium. It was cooked right. It was nothing spectacular. I eat salmon so often that I try to avoid ordering it at restaurants, but hey, what do you do when you're afraid of the kitchen messing up your order?! Stick to what ya know! The salmon came with a sautéed lobster tail lying underneath it with a potato medley (that they misleadingly call a potato salad). Overall, I was surprised at the service given everything I heard about the restaurant. If you avoid the lamb chops and green tomatoes, you may actually have a chance at eating a good meal! I left Webb's with a bad taste in my mouth. I'll probably never visit again because it's just not worth the money for mediocre, tasteless food. I'd suggest thinking twice before visiting this place. For our appetizer and two main plates, we spent about $65 and left a $15 tip. $80 isn't too bad for a so-called upscale restaurant. They just now need to work on consistent delivery in the kitchen. read more

A few of our friends brought us here while we were visiting Charlotte and the food was out of this world! I think it's technically classified as a steakhouse but they have a very wide range menu that is very reasonably priced! Also wanted to mention that the restaurant used to be a movie theater. I didn't go to the two upper floors but there is so much more to explore here as well when dinner is done! But, back to the food, I don't think you could really order anything here that wasn't good. I had the bone in pork chop and substituted the sweet potato purée for potato cakes and they were incredible. For apps, had the cheese bread, duck cigars and Cesar salad and they were so good! I was sharing with friends but the cheese bread came as 6 pieces and the duck cigars as 4. Dessert was amazing too! We ended up getting the coconut cake and it was HUGE! Cake was moist and just tasted incredible. On top of all the awesomeness, you can make reservations ahead of time too. What's not to love? read more

Overcooked oysters that were not properly shucked, over sauced main, whole stuffed Bronzino loaded with bones (it should have been filleted and reconstructed). Berry crumble for dessert was mostly sour blackberries. Would have been helped with whipped cream. How does a restaurant that's supposed to be "upscale" not teach the staff to clear the table before they bring the next course? How does this same "upscale" restaurant not offer coffee or tea or an after dinner drink with dessert? Wont be back and will advise others not to bother. read more

We have been to Webb Custom Kitchen many times but this may have been our best experience. Our server, Angel, was so delightful, fun, and knowledgeable about the menu and new items that were recently added. She noted that the Chilean Seabass was back on the menu and wow, it was delicious, so buttery and light. The risotto it was on was very delicious as well. My husband had a ribeye and it was cooked perfectly and was very delicious. We had a seat on the second level balcony with a great view of the kitchen staff and the movie that was playing. My mom loves this place and recommended I go for lunch with a friend. Prior to arriving I was looking over their website. Online the restaurant was brightly lit and beautiful but upon entering it was very dark and it was only 12:30pm. It seemed that barely any lights were on. It was a bit odd. I noticed the tables were not spaced 6ft apart, we were uncomfortable with that so asked to sit at the bar and they obliged. Which was great. The server helping us was Josh, he wasn't very attentive at all. We had to order with someone else. It didn't seem too busy either so that was a bit disappointing. We just felt sort of forgotten even though we were seated at the bar. The fried green tomatoes had crab and corn on top and it was just very different. My beef ribs were tasty but all of the food seemed a little bland, seasoning wise. I'd love to try them again, maybe on a better day. read more

Celebrating a birthday, decided to go here because we were told about how good it was. They did not disappoint. We tried the angry lobster, which was delicious. We both ordered steaks and while we both like a medium well cook, they prefer to cook to medium to avoid a heavy char. They were very tasty, no need for steak sauce. Came here for a group birthday party last year and tried their price fixe menu, which was great. Finally had a chance to try their regular menu too. The layout of this place is spectacular. They have an open kitchen on the ground floor and a black and white film that can be seen from the upper floor. However, they need a separate waiting area. Unless you want a drink from the bar, anywhere you stand will be in the way. Also, despite making reservations, my boyfriend and I still had to wait 25 minutes before we could be seated. We were happy to have an upper floor seating that allowed us a great view of the venue, but our table was tiny, right up against the wall, and at the top opening of the stairs. Both of us were scrunched, as if we were in airplane seats. I would have much preferred a booth for both comfort and a little privacy. I had a cocktail called River Runs Through It (Muddy River spiced rum, Muddy River coconut rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and a float of Jack Rudy grenadine, $7) to start the meal. It was beautiful and fruity. Looked like the sunset in a glass. The Fried Green Tomatoes (3 slices of fried green tomatoes with sweet corn, crab, tomato, jalapeño, dilled tartar sauce, $10.95) were a great appetizer. Loved the juicy, meaty, fresh, peeled crab. It was not spicy at all, unless you ate the jalapeño pieces that contained seeds. For my entrée, I had the Tenderloin Medallions "Wellington" Unwrapped (charbroiled filet mignon medallions, puff pastry fleuron, duxelle, madeira glace di viande, grilled asparagus, and Yukon Gold mashers, $22.95). Everything was great, except the meat was a little chewy, and I did not like the puff pastry because it was hard and dry instead of soft and flaky. Boyfriend had the Bayou Shrimp and Grits (bayou-style seared shrimp, étouffée sauce, green onions, andouille sausage and peppers over low country cheddar Anson Mills stone ground grits, $23.95). Loved his dish much more than mine. It had the perfect little kick to it. The jumbo shrimp were absolutely delicious! This dish had so much flavor. Our waitress was great. We didn't have dessert this time, but during our first group dinner previously, we had such amazing gigantic slices of dessert. Valet parking is free.
