I found this Gastonia gem while planning for our hiking day at Crowder Mountain. It is a small place with outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and helpful. We started with the delicious cornbread. My husband got sweet tea, chili burgers with Brussel sprouts. I got catfish po-boy with lemon pepper fries. The food arrived hot and large portions. Absolutely delicious, 5 stars!! Stumbled across Mic's while out in Gastonia. This spot has a huge menu with amazing food! The cocktails were great to start off with and they're strong! I suggest the apple moonshine cocktail.. it's like a sweet treat to go along with your meal. You also only need one to feel the buzz. I kept smelling chicken tenders and wanted to try them out. They were delicious! A side of Mumbo sauce pairs very well with the tenders. The catfish and grits really hit the spot as well. They were on special in December so hurry in if you want to try them. Our waitress Tess was also phenomenal. Top notch service and suggested the best things for us to try. It's not huge inside but there was ample seating and no wait to get our food. It's very light inside and cheery, so feel free to have a good laugh with friends here. I plan on stopping by next month to try even more of their fantastic menu! read more

Went here after church (thanks to Yelp) and was pleasantly impressed! It's a very unassuming spot in downtown Gastonia, but the food was good, the servers were nice and the ambience is cute! They have indoor and outdoor seating, along with some outdoor activities (putting mat and cornhole), which was great for the kids. The menu is pretty straightforward, but there was something for everyone in our family. My son loved the Mac and cheese, and I enjoyed my rather large burger. The hot dogs were good, even if the hubs said the chili was what you get from the can. The fries had a seasoning on them, which honestly, I wished had more. I got the Brussel sprout side, and they were delicious, but could have been much smaller. I would certainly come back to this spot and I love what they've done with the side alley space! read more

Mic's Kitchen in Gastonia was the perfect place for our 93rd birthday celebration! It can be hard to find a restaurant that makes everyone happy, but Mic's truly delivered--there was something for our vegetarians, picky eaters, and carnivores alike. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. And the banana pudding on funnel cake? Incredible. Warm, sweet, and completely over-the-top in the best way--definitely a must-try! My husband said that aside from his own homemade burger creations, the Mac Monster Burger was the best burger he has ever had--which says a lot! A special shoutout to our waitress, Kay--she was amazing! So welcoming, bubbly, and enthusiastic. She made the whole experience even more special and took such great care of our group. Second time they messed up some cheese fries last time fries was old and stale this time I asked for no onions and peppers and they still put them on my steak fries I spent more than 25$ and all they could say is sorry . We really liked MIC's Kitchen at first. The food itself was good, and the appetizers were amazing. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow and disorganized. It seemed like the waitresses were expected to make their own drinks and act as bartenders, which meant our waitress didn't have time to bring us the drinks we ordered. We were excited to try the cocktails, but we didn't receive them until after our dinner had already come out, which was disappointing. There were also several service mix-ups. We were served the same appetizer twice, and another waitress had to come take one of them back. While we were there, we saw another table receive the wrong order and another table had to get up and track down their waitress just to ask for another drink. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic, so this definitely didn't feel like it was her fault. It seemed more like a management or staffing issue. The food was good, but the service experience was frustrating enough that I don't think I could convince my husband to go back. Management please get in there and make those drinks. I pass Mic's Kitchen quite a bit and I finally decided to give it a try yesterday. We did a to-go order, chicken cheese Phillies, buffalo fries, brussels, and the cornbread squares. When I arrived I realized there was a special entry to the side for take-out so I proceeded to the special entry. Upon entry there was a lady at the counter keying information on a screen, she looked up and said hi...I replied hi, I'm picking up my order. In that moment she proceeded to look down and continued pressing buttons as if I no longer existed. I was flabbergasted about what was happening so I walked to the other side of the counter and a younger lady proceeded to assist. Had I not paid for my food already I probably would've exited the restaurant. What a weird experience. So let's talk about the food...the sandwiches are huge. We ordered two, when in actuality we could've split one. The sandwich was decent but not the best, heavy on the salt but the flavor was lacking. The fries were meh...had I known what the Buffalo situation was consisted of I would've stuck with regular fries. The $2 up charge was not worth what I received. The cornbread squares were drenched in grease...I took one bite and I realized it wasn't for me. The brussel sprouts were the best item in our order. Ordered the fish platter. The fish was good, the fries were good, the hush puppies were good. The cole slaw was not good at all, way over seasoned with celery seed. Cole slaw doesn't need celery seed at all. The tartar sauce was not good. Didn't taste at all like tartar sauce. Our food was very very good. WOW. Lots of burger choices. The menu was packed with scrumptious side items like loaded fries. The atmosphere was very contemporary and uncluttered. High tables are okay, but the seats are hard and cold metal. There is wood seating, too. I am definitely a customer. read more

A fantastic local restaurant. Feels tucked away down an alley on Main Street. Has a few tables outside with a nice outside seating area. In side has a cool vibe as well. Our waitress was very enthusiastic about the food and experience. It was Saturday night around 5:30 and getting busy with just two waitresses. Could tell they were getting over whelmed. But still doing a good job juggling everyone. Food came out hot and fresh. Chicken wings were a good size and meaty. They were seasoned well. Crispy and juicy. Saw on social media they had a peach cobbler wing sauce. Sadly it was a limited time thing and not available. So tried the hot strawberry. Slight tingle for heat and strawberry was not overwhelming. The honey lemon pepper chicken wings were also tasty. Neither really needed a dipping sauce. The Mac and cheese was creamy and tasted like it had it had another seasoning, paprika maybe? Very good. The fries were very good. My wife had the tenders... they were HUGE. She loved the sprouts and her sweet potato totes. DEFINITELY coming back and looking forward to trying other things. Side note.
