Well, I refused to leave NH without a lobster roll and my favorite two places to go have outdoor seating and it was raining! What's a girl to do? Look on Yelp of course and I saw Weathervane. Kinda put me off it is a chain but we gave it a try and I'm glad we did. We went to the one at Weirs beach, unfortunately no lake views , but the lobster roll was really good. Lots of big pieces of fresh lobster. Generous service and excellent onion rings. My friend had the fish tacos with house made potato chips and said both were excellent. 7 of us went here for dinner. I ordered steaks tip medium. steak came out well done, dry and overcooked. My steak tips supposed to come with rice pilaf and steam broccoli, they gave me raw broccoli. The only thing good for this dish was rice. My nephew order kid Mac and Cheese and it exactly looks like Kraft mac and cheese $1 box we see from store and microwave it. No melting cheese, just dry cheese powder. He tried 1 bite, He is 10 years old boy and he said this is worse mac and cheese he ever had. Everyone was so disappointed with food. Our server is new employees, she was so nervous, poor server apologized to us a fews time when she put food on the table and gave us the bill and see amount of food we couldn't eat. Delicious! I tried the $5 margarita and for $5 dollars. Yeah it was fair to the price. Very sweet though. Service. Agh now here is where the hammer drops. Service was TERRIBLE. Exuberant wait, staff that just didn't seem to care. Want to put any effort into serving their customers. Which to me I couldn't believe how clean it was considering how lazy the staff appeared to be. I showed up late on a Sunday afternoon. Granted it was the beginning of bike week but Weathervane was not packed. We were seated up stairs and the dinning room was less then half full. There appeared to be about 5 employees standing around, jib jabbing and not a care in the world there were several tables waiting. I think we waited around 15-20min until a waitress finally appeared and took a drink order and then off she went. Didn't ask if we wanted to put a food order in, but made it a point to insult my partner when they ordered their drink. My partner asked for a margarita, the waitress listed off all the ones they had and when my partner answered "just a regular one" the waitress rolled her eyes and said "well did you really need me to say all of them then?" I ordered the same and almost made her list them off again! Rude! After another 5-10 minutes, she reappeared with our drinks, took our food order and poof was off. We literally would of left prior to ordering drinks but were very hungry, just paid $20 to park and even though I was in town on bike week, we were trying to avoid getting who knows what from the local biker trash, anyways back to my review. While we were in the middle of our meal the waitress came over, and said "done with the ketchup" snatched it off the table and left. My mouth was full and did not answer, my partner was just about to ask for me to pass it and our friend had a plate of fries. What you only have 3 bottles of ketchup in the place or are you just to lazy to go get another one for another table??? Cost for the quality of food, cost is very reasonable. My $5 margarita was a $5 margarita. Nothing special, very sweet and a very light pour. My wrap was well worth what I paid. Will I be back? Eh maybe. The service was horrible, the manager should be ashamed of their staff or needs to retrain what appeared the entire waitstaff. You have customers waiting and staff just hanging around. Figure it out, not that hard. Cover each other. Customers shouldn't have to wait or deal with rude service! Also customers shouldn't have condiments removed during the middle of their meal because your staff is to lazy to refill bottles, go get bottles or what ever. Ridiculous! read more

But sorry, we ran out of Parmesan Cheese (it was $3:00 pm). ok, I'm cool w/that. My hubs & I eat, it' tasted pretty good after a 2.5 hour boat tour on a 97 degree day. Then the bill arrives....his Chicken sandwich -$16. My salad.... $30! The Lobster consisted of 2 claws......couldn't have been more than 1/4#! What a rip-off.... After a morning and early afternoon with an old College friend touring Lake Winnipesaukee, it came time to say farewell and spend a few more minutes together overlooking Weirs Beach and savoring a good lunch. We were recommended the Weathervane and so we went in for some food and a cold brew. Edis was our waiter and he was absolutely awesome. Seating was immediate, we went upstairs which was at least 10ºF cooler than the downstairs area. Something to consider for others when visiting. We started with frozen margaritas and it was a good idea. They were superb. I had the fish and chips and my good college classmate had the Steamer plate. The fish was outstanding, obviously good Haddock. But the fries were a bit bland and not as crispy as I would have liked them. It's OK. It's not a full Weathervane Restaurant but instead a "Lobster in the Rough", which I think is code for a snack bar version of a Weathervane. I ordered the Fried Fish and Sweet Potato Fries. They were lunch sized (despite it being dinner) and good but served in a plastic tray with a sheet of paper. Good for a snack bar, but a little short on presentation and portion size for a Weathervane Seafood Restaurant. read more

Very nice restaurant, spacious, quiet and great service. The drinks are great, as are the lobsters (soft shell!). A lot of the food however is either fried or a sandwich, and both the bisque and chowder have flour in it (not gluten-free). So I felt pretty limited in terms of choices. This is the second time we have gone to the Weathervane. The food is average and slightly over-price. The real problem is that they sit as many people at tables that want to be seated..so, there were the 6 of us, another table for 16, and another table for 12, 2 tables of 4 people and another of 8..all upstairs with 2 waitstaff. The food came out cold...the clam chowder luke warm...an my order of clams, fries, and a side of onion rings ...had the rings come with my soup and when the dinners came, my clams were old. They did remake the clams which were good...made a half order of rings and no fries. Waiter never had a chance to refill drinks. Just a bad overpriced dinner. We will not go back as the first experience was just fair. read more

I ordered out here last week during my family's vacation to Weirs Beach. We had a copy of the menu already so I knew what I wanted and just went to order it and take it to the condo. The 1st thing I noticed when i walked in was that the place was filled with smoke and smelled. They must not have proper ventelation from the fryolators. I walked up to the counter and there were 2 young guys (early 20's) ahead of me so I waited. After a minute I realized that he was not ordering but just there talking to the staff (girls in their late teens/early 20's). Three girls at the counter ignored me for 5 minutes while flirting with these 2 guys. After the 5 minutes I just walked up to the counter and said "can I place an order"? The staff looked very disinterested in helping me at all. I ordered the gold fever chicken tenders, and waited another 10 minutes in the terrible smoke. In general it is a nice looking clean restaurant. I would get the ventilation equiptment fixed so it wasn't choking the customer's out (the smoke was present in the entire restaurant, including the dining area). I would also keep an eye on your employees who besides ignoring me at the counter, just in general looked like they were just there to get paid, and not to work. The only reason why I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was actually pretty good. I doubt i'll return to the Weathervane, but unless they want to lose more customers I hope that they change a few things. read more

We came here for dinner on a Saturday during Memorial Day Weekend. One of my munchkins ordered fried clam strips. The other was just going to try whatever everyone else was eating. My husband and I ordered the Rough Fried Seafood Platter. First, the place itself. It is on Weirs Beach so depending on when you go, parking could be a little crazy. There are two eating areas. One area is next to the kitchen and the other is upstairs where the bar is. We were brought upstairs to a table in the corner which was perfect. The Bruins game was on and it got a little noisy for my 2 yo. The server had "a shadow" (i.e. she was training someone). The scary part about that was she was suppose to be the veteran and yet she had a hard time with questions that we asked her. My husband and I wanted some raw oysters, we asked how much for six and where they were from. She had to ask the kitchen which was fine, its a new menu option. She came back and told us where they were from but forgot to ask how much for six. So she went back. Needless to say, we didn't order any. Our food was ok. The fried clam strips were liked by my daughter. My husband and I split the seafood platter. It had onion rings, fries, shrimp, haddock, scallops and whole belly clams. You can tell that they change their oil regularly - LOVE THAT! The food wasn't saturated like some fried foods are. The onion rings were nice and light. Overall, it was a good time and good food. My reasoning for the 3 stars is the waitress was a little off. I don't know if it was because she was training someone or what but she was too attentive when we didn't need her and not attentive enough when we did need something. I had to get up twice and ask a different waitress if she could bring me things. The second thing is, the fire alarm kept going off. When we asked what was going on, since we were told we didn't need to leave, we were told that the alarm is very sensitive. If they put too many hamburgers to cook on the grill, it goes off. We were there for about an hour maybe an hour and 20 minutes and it went off four times. My 2 yo was not a happy camper. read more

Came here last night for a family get together! I decided to order their special steak&chicken combo. The meal I was provided with was above average and definitely worth every penny. Service was very expedient and very attentive to say the least. The establishment was clean and well kept. Large flat screens to watch the game are also provided with a decent bar. A must go! I have come here almost 10 times over the past eight years when I take vacations in New Hampshire, and this is probably the best restaurant in New Hampshire! When you walk in you immediately get a feel of seafood and friendliness. Last time I went, I was seated upstairs and presented with a O so beautiful view of Lake Winnipesaukee. I ordered the boil lobster, because that's probably the best thing on the menu. When my food came, I was presented with a delightful plate of steaming lobster and fresh coleslaw. The lobster was probably the best thing I've ever tasted! If you come here, you have to try the lobster. You get butter to dip it in and a side of french fries which by the way, were outstanding. This resturant is very very awesome!! I have some special dietary needs and they are very accomodating to me. It is bad that I live within a half mile of the place. I would be there every night! The wait staff is very friendly and for the most part very knowledgable of the menu. I would reccomend this to anyone coming to the Weirs!!!! read more
