Bee Man Dan was highly recommended by our communities Facebook group. He's from Escondido. We contacted several beekeepers and he seemed to be the most personable and responsive with the best price for the service. All correspondence was through text after giving him a call and receiving an automatic text back. Pretty convenient as we sent over pictures and got some advice before asking him to come take a look and paid him for his services. We were definitely FOR the idea of saving the bees and rehabilitating them, that's why we are okay with paying for a beekeeper. We had a swarm of bees come in, that landed on our young avocado's tree trunk (about an inch in diameter and only 6ft tall), Tuesday afternoon. The swarm was about 4ft above the ground. Was told that it will most likely go away in a few days. We waited for a week before calling a beekeeper for prices. When they were removed, we saw some honeycombs forming, meaning they must have ran out of time to find a new hive and was starting one on our little tree. Pretty rare, but it happens, I guess. We got several other offers for cheaper (they didn't seem as reliable) and many no pickup calls. We decided to go with Dan by 2pm in the afternoon and he told us he'll see if his guys (bee wranglers) finish up early and can stop by later today or will definitely tomorrow morning at 9am. I've had a hive in my owl box up in a tree for the last 3 years. I have a small avocado farm and kept them for pollination. I needed the hive moved to another location on the property (the tree they were in needed to come down). It is an established hive and so the box would be very heavy (they can be over 100lbs). Dan rigged up a pulley and lowered the hive gently into a cart and moved it to the other location. He then left a capture box in the original location since about 20% of the hive were out foraging. I was able to move the capture box myself 2 days later at nighttime (the bees are surprisingly calm at night). The next day many bees came back, estimated around 3,000 (maybe 10% of the hive) . I called Dan and he explained that this was normal. The problem was, these bees were not so happy and I couldn't get with 50 feet of the old area with getting harassed. I texted Dan and he send someone over to handle the remaining bees. Since he considered this to be somewhat dangerous he got someone to our house even though it was the 4th of July! First time having a MAJOR bee problem... Days before solar panels were scheduled to be installed, I noticed a bunch of bees swarming around my roof!!! Called a few places... It started out good. Dan came and gave us a quote. He did the work. However, the bees still persisted. Turned out that there was another hive that we weren't aware of. Dan quoted us for another job. We paid him for that job too. However the bees still persisted. Dan pretty much gave up and told me that he charged me too little for the work and that the money I gave him is not worth it for him to follow up on. He suggested that I just call the exterminators. Which made NO sense to me since he was the one who convinced me to use him over exterminators due to the risks involved with leaving bee hives and honey in the walls of your house. He again assured me that he has done everything that he can do and that he can only suggest that I use the chimney and hope that the bees will leave due to the smoke. I smoked it out nearly everyday for about 4 months. The bees still persisted. Dan would not follow up and he said that his job was done. I think we misunderstood what the job was. I wanted the bees to be removed from my chimney and they were still there. Dan told me that his job was to take them out and put the filler and sealing. I guess whether the bees come back inside is none of his concern. I felt like I paid Dan to come and make some holes in my chimney, put some pink filler in there and leave. I thought the whole purpose of sealing and putting the filler in was to prevent the bees coming back. I don't even know if something else happened or if something wasn't sealed correctly. Avoid this company if you can. There's a lot of room for improvement with Dan's communication and ethics. I reached out to Dan and the office staff for bee removal receiving contradictory info from both. The office staff said the bees would move on on their own but then a few days later Dan texted saying he'd send someone to collect the bees and we'd schedule an appointment in the next couple days. The fee would be $350 for a very small hive. Great, I thought. Lets get this done. Over a week later I get a text from Dan saying a wrangler would be at my house in a couple hours to collect the bees. Huh? No one ever contacted me about appointment days/times, there had been zero communication from this company and the hive had dwindled down considerably. The wrangler showed up, took a couple pics of the hive and said there was no need to remove them. So much time had passed and the bees were in fact moving on. He spent less than 15 min at our property. A couple weeks later I received a bill for $150. Never once did Dan or the office staff communicate there would be a fee for not removing bees. When I reached out to the office to discuss this I never received a reply. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

We discovered a large hive in our backyard tree about 25 feet up in the air. I called The Bee Man and his personable and friendly crew arrived to deal with the relocation.
