The vibe is casual and welcoming, making it a great place to hang out with friends, catch a game, or just unwind after work. It has a neighborhood feel but still delivers on energy, especially during busy evenings and weekends. The drink selection is well-rounded with good beer options and cocktails, and the food is consistently satisfying for a bar-style menu. Service is generally friendly and attentive, even when the place gets crowded. What stands out most is the atmosphere--it's the kind of place where people actually stay and socialize instead of just stopping in briefly. Overall, The Angry Elephant is a solid go-to for a relaxed night out with good drinks, good food, and a comfortable, social environment.

Highlights include: * $10 double cheeseburger with a pickle * $3 East Coast oysters * Half-price drinks, including martinis and wine by the glass Overall, it is an excellent value for a really nice place. Atmosphere and Service The atmosphere and service are impeccable. After more than one visit, the bartenders may recognize you--or at least remember your beverage choices. The Bar Show The best part is the show. The people-watching at the bar is unlike anything else. Happy hour starts at 3:00, but the bar seats are usually full by 2:45. Latecomers often walk in, circle the bar, and leave when they realize there are no seats available. Many guests settle in for the full three hours, which creates its own entertainment. Then come the "watchers," each with a strategy for claiming a seat: * Look for someone nearing the end of a drink. * Watch for guests paying their bill. * Hover nearby, hoping a seat opens up. * Ask someone for a heads-up when they are about to leave. It is surprisingly entertaining, and the occasional bit of staff drama only makes it even better. Bottom Line Either way, it is a great deal for dinner, drinks, and a show, all with amazing service. Show up early--or come prepared with your own strategy.

We ordered the crispy rice tuna and the dinamite shrimp. Both were delicious but small, specially the dinamite shrimp served in a BIG bed of greens. The crispy rice tuna was good. The presentation was nice. My daughter ordered the stone fruit martini and she loved it. I ordered a glass or Sauvignon blanc and it was also good. The ambiance was nice and upscale. The food was disappointing for the price. I ordered the salmon, and the presentation was poor. It looked like something I would have cooked at home. Just a piece of salmon and a side of broccoli; nothing fancy or original about this dish. I'm sharing a picture of a salmon dish we had a a restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado for the same price. Maybe they will learn a decent presentation for a $30 dollar dish. I'm sure the food cost in CO is not higher than DFW. Do better. The steak frites was the most disappointing dish of all; $50 dollars for a small piece of steak, side of spinach and small side of fries. The chicken parm was just ok. The pickle in the hamburger overtook the flavor. Order with no pickles if you're not a fan. The side of fries for the hamburger, which have to be ordered separately, were cold and just ok; nothing special. Overall, we were NOT impressed. Maybe I'll consider going back for happy hour for appetizers and drinks, but probably not.

Mike, the owner, greeted us right away and made us feel genuinely welcome. When he found out we wanted to watch a specific college football game, he immediately turned it on for us. That level of hospitality is hard to find these days. As an added bonus, Mike treated us to a complimentary portion of the Brioche Banana Foster French Toast, and it was absolutely outstanding. The brioche was perfectly prepared, and the banana foster topping took it to another level. It was easily one of the best brunch items I've had in a long time. For our main meal, my son and I both ordered the Chicken and Waffles from the brunch menu. It was a perfect 10 out of 10. The chicken was light, crispy, and flaky without being heavy, and it sat atop a perfectly cooked waffle. Every bite was delicious. I originally planned on ordering an iced tea, but our waitress was so friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable that she convinced me to try a Bloody Mary instead. I'm glad she did because it was excellent and paired perfectly with brunch. What really stood out wasn't just the amazing food and drinks, but the overall atmosphere and service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail was exceptional. Honestly, I don't understand why this place isn't more crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will absolutely be back again. If you're looking for great food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Local Open is definitely worth a visit. Pretty solid experience overall…read more The restaurant was clean, the food was good, and while nothing made me dramatically reconsider my life choices in a "this is the best meal I've ever had" kind of way, I definitely enjoyed it. The host seemed a little distracted or maybe just fighting for survival during the dinner rush, but nothing alarming. Our server was super friendly and doing the work of approximately three humans, so props to them for keeping the ship afloat. The dining room also feels really open, like the architect's main inspiration was "airport terminal, but with mozzarella sticks." Big bonus: they do specials like "kids eat free" on certain nights, which in this economy feels less like a promotion and more like an act of public service. Nothing super compelling so far at this place, but certainly nothing bad either. Will definitely go back for another try!
