Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular they are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.
Date: August 9, 2026 Purchases: Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Salad Vanilla Milkshake Experience: One of our friends had suggested going to this place and I was sold on the photos of the milkshakes. He did warn us that it may be an hour wait to be seated, which we didn't mind. We had gone a Sunday after the 10AM mass and found parking once we got into the lot. There was additional parking in the lot across the way as well. The guys got in line, which was a little bit past the gate leading to a little area where parents with kids were hanging out. The area was close to where people had parked their private planes and it was cool seeing the cool seeing the different aircrafts come in and out from the airport as we entertained by friend's daughter. We went back to the guys once we realized that we couldn't see the guys anymore and since our other friend would be arriving soon to join us. The wait wasn't bad since we had good conversations and catching up to do as we got to the front. They had given water to people in line and menus to look at. Once we got inside, we placed our orders and were seated outside. No joke we had three flies or so to fend off as our meals came, but other than that the food was pretty good. I opted for a salad and took a few sips of my husband's milkshake. The milkshake wasn't too strong in flavor, but there was enough in the leftover cup to let some of my friends try for themselves. My salad was so pretty and it was flavorful with the two dressings that came with it. I definitely should've asked to hold the tomatoes, but just scooted them to the corner of my plate. My friend let me try his Garlic Parmesan fries and they were pretty good. We could see the aircrafts coming and going at our table as we conversed with each other. There was most likely a hiccup near the end of the meal, where the servers kept coming to us to provide the drinks and foods that belonged to the table next to us, which we redirected to after two or three servers came by. Overall, a great experience and would be down to comeback when visiting our friends in Camarillo again.
I went here on a Friday and there was a line outside. It was not that long because it was based on who orders faster. It gives you time to figure out what to order because you need to order up front. The service was nice and our waiter was friendly. It seems like they increased the price of the milkshake once again, but it was still the same size and really good. Last time, I ordered their burger and it was really small. So this time I ordered a sandwich and I was not disappointed as this one was a decent size. It was really tasty, but I wish they also added a pickle on the side of the sandwiches too. Their salads are also really good along with the bread that comes with it. The ambiance was nice and the planes are not very loud, but there is a lot of people. Overall, this is a nice place for lunch or special events like birthdays for a decent price.
A family affair To sum up the weekend, we gathered here. At the private hangar entrance for the Camarillo airport with an active runway 20 embarked on the breakfast experience. We left happy. A line, a short wait and get it in. Marcello managed drums ie coffee, mimosa's, apple juice and espresso and latte's. The fun began in the waiting. I don't know the servers name but she managed 20 of us in grand style. The orders were delivered at the same time, hot, beautiful and yummy. We had such a variety and enjoyed it all.
I'm still Drooling over the toasty buttery tuna melt. The onion rings were super crunchy. But before you enjoy your meal join the wait line. When you get to the door make sure you know what to order because that's where they will take your order and you will pay ,then be seated. Plenty of friendly staff on hand so process goes fast and smooth. Cute outside patio where you can see planes take off. Family friendly restaurant that even has a mini runway on site.
First time here in 5 years , its 1130 am and 76 degrees , and over the table the heater is on generating uncomfortable space , The seats we are in are as hard as a rock . It's very noisy , and really not to senior friendly if your using can ect . No Counter seating anymore . The hostess out front came to the counter and talked fast hard to understand and moved us here . Not like the old days 5-6 years ago it has lost its magic. Foods here let's hope it's at least tasty !!!
The atmosphere is so fun being able to see the planes and sit on the patio, we didn't like that you have to order at the counter and they will not seat you to even start with a drink until your whole party is there. Makes the vibe feel cheap and like a cafeteria. Food was good but not the dining experience we wanted.
This is a super busy cafe on the grounds of the Camarillo airport. As I understand, it is always as busy as it was this morning on a Saturday at 9:30 AM. There were about 25 people in line on the front walk, at least under large umbrellas to shelter from the intense sun. Restaurant staff walked by handing out menus and plastic cups of water. Slowly being let into the restaurant as tables became available, you approach the host desk and place your order. Upon completion and paying the check. You are shown to your table and drinks are brought by a "flight crew " table server. In no time at all the food is delivered and it is huge and very tasty.my biscuits and gravy was a bit light on gravy but tadty. It was stacked on a large biscuit open faced with a sausage patty and egg on each face with grain top. With a dide of hash browns it was more than I could eat the kids meal of French toast and side of eggs was ample. The cinnamon roll was huge. Coffee refills came as asked for
This place is fabulous! Amazing food with amazing view ! Watching planes come in n out while enjoying a milkshake is very nice . My wife said she would pass on the chilaquiles tho . Service is quick too
I had the chicken and waffles here. It was absolutely the best batch of chicken and waffles I have ever had. So crispy and the extra butter merged well with the chicken which made it very juicy. I highly recommend this order for when you go. In addition the service was efficient and easy. Ordering at the entrance and getting your seat after makes things operate smoothly. There was outside and inside dinning but with all the people it was still a very calm place to eat. Not so noisy at all. I will definitely be going here again.
We love coming to Camarillo and eating here! The tri tip is always delicious, they BBQ it on site but you have to get there before it sells out as it's a popular item. The milkshakes and the burgers are delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes are always a delicious sweet treat! And you get to watch some really nice planes land and take off!

My sister in law recommended this place to have breakfast so we stopped by and boy were we satisfied! When we got there we ordered at the front before we were seated. So by the time we sat down the food was coming out. It was quick service. The day was nice and being able to sit outside near the planes was pleasant. Food was great. Waffles to die for! If you come definitely order a shake. Delicious!!! Here is all the food we ordered and a view of the outside patio.

Very nice place to grab food and watch the planes fly in and out. My son flies in and out Camarillo airport and finally we ended up dropping by one afternoon. We got lucky and got seated right away on the patio. The place was busy and the ambiance was nice. Based on my sons suggestion I tried the Tri-Tip sandwich and it was just ok! The service was fast and the server was attentive. What I enjoyed the most was seating outside watching the planes and enjoying a nice afternoon with my Son. read more

Waypoint Cafe, is the hidden gem for good Food with a great view. Excellent Breakfast Choices, and Lunch Choices. Waypoint Cafe never disappointing. Blueberry Pancakes are excellent. Eggs cooked perfectly. Excellent Burgers and Tri -Tip Sandwiches. Fun watching the planes land. read more

Note: I would say more 3.5 stars from this experience. Nice service, but the food wasn't as spectacular as I thought it would be. Came for a brunch and the wait was quite long, but at least the wait time was pretty accurate. We were given a wait time of 1 hour and we were seated after waiting ~55 minutes. While waiting, you can purchase mimosas of different variations (orange, pineapple, cranberry) as you look at the airport with propeller planes. If you have children, there is a decent sized yard there where they can run around and play with any other kids that are also waiting. Service-wise, very nice. We had a snafu with our food and they were quick to fix the snafu for us. Our server Katie was very kind and helpful throughout the meal. Food-wise, we had the breakfast burger with fries, country fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash brown, and pancakes with bacon with added chocolate chips. The better items were the pancakes with bacon. They give a decent amount of chocolate chips and the pancakes are decently sized. They are fluffy and nicely seared on both sides to offer a slight crisp on the edges. The bacon is average, but decently sized. The country fried steak pulled ahead of the breakfast burger by just a slight margin. The country fried steak wasn't too bad. The sausage used in the gravy wasn't grilled, but just diced and cooked into the gravy itself. To each their own, but my preference would have been to grill the sausages to intensify the flavors. The gravy is thick, but lacks the strong sausage taste that one would expect from sausage gravy. The steak is nicely sized and the batter is about right - not too thick or thin. The meat is okay when it comes to seasoning. I think a bit more salt and pepper could have been used, but that's preference as well. Aside from the county fried steak, the scrambled eggs are a bit overdone. They were very dry and a bit hard to consume without a drink on hand. The hash brown was nicely crisped on one side and just cooked enough for the inside to be fully cooked. When we had a snafu and the order was re-done, the country steak fries and eggs' consistency remained the same. The hash browns however went downhill in that it was less crispy and the inside layer wasn't as fully cooked and more oily. The breakfast burger was last, because it was overcooked and very dry. When ordered, they asked if I wanted the burger to be medium and I said yes and they said if over-easy egg was fine, and I said yes. When it came out, the burger and egg were fully cooked. The cheese was pretty gooey and helped with the dryness. The burger buns and fries were okay. Pretty average and not much to write home to. For the orange mimosa that we had, they use a small bottle of sparkling champagne and add orange juice to top it off to a certain level. Not amazing I would say, but nice to have if you got an hour wait ahead of you. All in all, the place is nicely situated and nice to have a brunch there if it's a good day out and you are seated outside. They have heaters and umbrellas if you are seated outdoors to provide warmth/shade. Food-wise, the food didn't exactly amaze me, but I'm told perhaps it was due to how busy they were or they were perhaps short-staffed in the kitchen. Hard to say if it's those reasons or the food we ordered. A lot of people come and giving them the benefit of the doubt, I would venture another try. Worth a try to form your own speculations for sure. Side-note: some of their mimosa glasses are very scratched up. The bartender checks the glasses to make sure they were clean/presentable before using them and for the couple before me, he saw they were scratched up and used a different glass for them. I thought he would do the same for me since I was next, but he didn't. Unfortunate for me. read more

If you wanna feel bougie and keep up ur insta status, this is the place to be! Not only can you watch pilots land and take off, you can see who get off these private planes.. like I said: Bougie. Now the food...French toasts are giant and fluffy, breakfast burritos are decadent in egg, bacon, and avocados, but the icing on the cake.. their OREO MILKSHAKE!!! Not only impressive in stature, inviting in appearance (chocolate reams!), the taste can relieve years of stress and anguish. Can't afford therapy? Try a Waypoint Milkshake! P.S. This is a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of the air strip in Camarillo. First off, I will warn you: the wait will be at least 50 mins. But that should tell you something. When you walk in, you'll notice some really cool ambiance music playing; songs like "Africa", by Toto or "Outstanding" by the Gap Band. Gives it a nice vibe! Even the outdoor seating has heaters so you're not freezing. But on to the food. I ordered the special for that day: the Tri tip Omelette filled with cheese and guac, and Serrano peppers on the side and so much tri tip tender meat!- Along with gravy and English muffin (they ran out of biscuits) and some Mexican style potatoes. You know the little chopped patatoes full of spices and bell pepper and all that good stuff! And let me tell you, the food was *EXCELLENT!!!* The gravy was just right, chunky and flavorful. The eggs, I didn't want them runny, so they cooked them to perfection in this omlette. , fluffy and firm, but not burnt, very cheesy, and very meaty.The tri tip was tender, flavorful and PLENTIFUL. I would order this again, for sure, for sure! The root beer float was awesome! Lots of ice cream, and they'll top off your root beer if you ask. Wifey ordered the French toast combo, and said it was ok, not a bad french toast, but not the best. She'll probably get something else the next time we come, because looking over at other people's plate they have lots of great looking dishes! So yes, there will definitely be a next time! Oh one last thing. Hailee C was our server that morning/afternoon and she was very nice! I'd be remiss if I didn't send a shout out to the wonderful hostess who 1st signed me in...she is also extremely nice! She even complimented me on the black n white outfit I was wearing! How sweet!! Is it loud because of the airplanes?
I didn't find it to be loud due to airplanes. The restaurant was packed so the biggest sound issue was just other diners talking and clinking plates, silverware, etc. Nothing excessive, but definitely did not hear an airplane.
Does the restaurant look over the runway?
Yes it does outside is the best view of that but there are windows inside too.
Is breakfast served all day?
Yes but service is hit or miss. My burger was overdone and the person next to me was underdone. If you want a great breakfast go to Hidden Cafe in Camarillo springs. Traditional breakfasts and Hawaiian breakfasts.
Will you open for dinner Friday & Saturday night this summer?

Do you still offer chorizo and eggs breakfast plate; not the burrito?
When I went in January, it was a plate, not a burrito.
How long is the wait on a Saturday morning? Also, do all the outdoor seats have a good view of the planes coming & going? Or do we have to request those seats? Thank you!
The wait was about 15 minutes last time I went. All the outside tables will do, though the tables that aren't under the covered patio are better for spotting the planes coming in.
Do they offer to go/ takeout?
As I know if they don't. But, of course they let you take out the left over food after your meal.
Do they take reservations for Sunday brunch?
Unfortunately NO...but so worth the wait👍🏻
Does Waypoint allow dogs in their outdoor seating area?
Yes they do. We have brought our dog several times as long as he is on a leash. Also, there is a local older dog who wanders the area and comes and goes as he pleases. He belongs to one of the hangar workers nearby the restaurant. Everyone greets…
Do they have a room/ area for large private groups?
It doesn't have a large indoor space, however there is space outside that could probably be used but it depends on how large your party is. 10-15 people would work. Anything larger than that would be challenging I think. Inside, there is an area off…
When is the best time to come eat here?
Weekends are very busy but it's better before 10 or after 1 p.m.
