First time customer today and loved it. Food... The burgers were delicious, juicy and cooked to perfection. We had the Southwest Burger and the Spicy Melt. Both wete present just like the menu pics. We had chili cheese tots and onion. Again both were incredible and served with a generous portion. Service... The staff was friendly and very attentive. Appreared to genuinely want to be helpful. The lady did not want to honor the price on the menu so we walked out. So the owner before this most recent one to throw in the towel appeared to be indifferent to cleanliness and sanitation (tho this was a few years ago, tbf). This last last owner appeared to simply not care much at all (maybe he thought running a burger joint would be a cakewalk? - I mean, the gentleman appeared he couldn't be bothered to wave a "hello" or otherwise greet or say goodbye to frequent patrons)... really not a great trait for a SMB owner-operator to say the least. But we're at Wayback for great burgers, not "small biz 101" and once again this location is closed without updating the website (or Google etc as others have mentioned). Plus, as others have also mentioned, many locals purchased Groupons valid only at this location (a last effort revenue boost to make the location look more enticing to new buyers?) for this location and are apparently now left "holding the bag" after this last owner cashed-out. We stopped going to the place that rhymes with "Burger Pi" (a bit further down 85) because of their egregious mistreatment of their top 2% of loyal customers with abrupt loyalty program "reset", and were happy with the quality at this particular Wayback burger (despite the apparently apathetic owner?) only to have it unceremoniously shut down once again... read more

The hours are incorrect on google, it says they close at 9pm on Monday. I arrived at 8:37 pm and I was told that they close at 8:30 on Monday and Wednesday. I told her the hours were wrong on google and she said I know and walked off. The restaurant smelled so nice and freshly cleaned. We've lived close by for so long and have never tried this burger place and it was delicious! Can't wait to try the shakes. The fries were super fresh and hot. The buffalo sauce is the perfect spicy flavor and doesn't have an over powering vinegar taste. The ranch is a perfect side to compliment the sandwich. Well, my last review was very good, but this has gone down quickly. Right away when you walk in, they have a sign informing you there is a 30 minute wait. There was only one other 2-person family in there. When you go to order, the owner reminds you, "it's a 30 minute wait". He is not friendly at all and you can tell that he is just absolutely miserable. I actually feel really badly for him. But at the end of the day, this is a fast food type restaurant and you can't serve people as if they're at a sit-down restaurant where people expect the long wait. The food was okay, but not near as good as it used to be. None of our buns were toasted and they were actually cold as if pulled out of a fridge and put on our sandwich. Definitely unenjoyable. We watched as people would enter, read the long wait sign and walk right back out. So I'm thinking that this business won't be open much longer and maybe he's trying to deter business. The food and choices are really good, but be prepared to wait awhile for your order. Almost 35 minutes from the time we walked through the door. To me, it is an upscaled Five Guys. A plus is they offer Impossible Burgers which is a big deal when someone in your party is vegetarian. Another issue...I can't figure out the charges. I was up this way doing an onsite, and was craving something new. I had heard of Wayback Burgers before but had never seen one. Always on the prowl for good burgers, I stopped in. There wasn't too much unique about the inside of this place, but the menu options seemed really good. I decided to order the Carolina Burger Combo, and went to grab a seat. First two things that stuck out here: the person at the register had no character whatsoever. In fact, it seemed like they were in a daydream when i walked up. Literally didn't say anything to me, so I just felt awkward even disturbing him. Secondly, the table I sat at wasn't really clean. I bumped two stars for the service, and 1 for the dirty table. My burger came out and it looked good, but certainly messy. It had cole slaw on it, chili, cheese and onions. My first bite had it going everywhere. I did like the taste of it, but I wouldn't say it was much different from any other fast food burger I've had. I was expecting a little bit better quality here. They do have other options, including hot dogs and sandwiches, and wished I had gone that route instead. Overall, my first impression wasn't very high. Went here with my family of six thinking it would be a decently priced meal. Only to find out that the menu prices are wrong. Plus they will charge you for any extras even though the menu indicates that only bacon and chili are extra. Pretty shady because after I ordered my cost went up by $12 just for toppings. The staff seemed really clueless and I'm assuming it was the owner came over to offer us free milkshakes and apologized. Two stars *only* because the food was pretty good. Otherwise this is a one star place all day long. Problems: Pricing is (intentionally) tricky. For example let's say the burger you choose might say $5.00, but you end up paying quite a bit more. No itemized receipt was given (maybe also intentional?). My guess is each toping is being charged for, which *the menu doesn't say in any way*. Slow. Although I did like the fact that it was good tasting and fresh...wow was it slow. Only one person ordered in front of us and we still waited around 20 minutes. Cold. It was overcast, windy, and around 60 outside and the place had both door *propped* wide open using chairs. I thought about shutting them but of course this is not something I felt comfortable doing since clearly the management chose to do this. Ill equipped. None of the soap dispensers worked. Table was wobbly. We tried more than one and had to settle for the "least wobbly". In general the whole dining room just seemed kind of neglected. Chincy. Although this is a place you'll end up spending around $15 for a burger, fries, and drink there were no salt and pepper shakers...just the tiniest paper packets I've ever seen at the kiosk...about half the size of what you'd get at fast food. Ketchup...rip and squeeze packets like you get at entry level fast food places. Plastic silverware too. There were a few other things like this, but I will stop now...I'd hope you get the point by now. We ordered chili dogs, cheeseburgers, fries and those nice fat onion rings and it was meh so so. The prices are more than expected. I thought it would have more flavor in the fresh meat patties. This was our first time eating at a Wayback and probably the last. So expensive for less than mediocre food. The cheese on the burgers was not even melted. It tastes like they don't use any seasoning on the burgers can't even taste salt and pepper. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was a joke.
