They seriously need to have someone who understands english to take orders. I had 3 things incorrect on my order plus the take home order i put in. The food was great! Tasted yummy. But it was mostly wrong. I even repeated the order to clarify and each time the waiter said "yes" Satay. can i have half chicken and half lamb? "yes" The fish cake how is it prepared? is it wrapped in banana leaves? "yes" How about the coconut rice to go is it sweet? "yes" So the coconut rice is sweet like a desert? "Yes" No on all counts. The coconut rice was cubed rice with shredded fried garlic. I love indonesian food and enjoyed my meal. The place is clean the waiter is very friendly. We ordered family style to share- combination fried rice, fried flat noodles, and of course, the chicken satay sticks. Yummy! This food was amazing!!! We got the fried rice, fried chicken, and the watercress. Soooo freaken good even for takeout and as leftovers. The food is flavorful, garlicky, spicy, in so many different layers and ways its magical. This is a must try place. The people there are so genuinely nice considerate human beings. I cant wait to go back for dine-in whenever the 'rona goes away. My one complaint is that they "proudly serve alkaline water." They make their tea with it which ruins the tea and makes it literally and figuratively basic... So unless you actually like that weird battery taste in your beverage skip the water, tea, and ice. We ordered the food for delivery, and it was absolutely delicious! I've had their food before -specifically their Beef Rendang when I'm too lazy to make it myself and it tastes just like home. I was motivated to write a review because I saw some so called "Elite" person only leave 3 stars. Well, I LOVE that it is family run, as when you walk in it feels like I'm back in Indonesia. I found this place and wanted to give it a try~ since I am not that hungry, I ordered a pempak (savory fish cake in vinegar sauce). It tasted amazing! I went to Bali before the pandemic and fell in love with the country, the people, and most of all the food! I took a cooking class while I was there thinking that I would make Indonesian food at home, but who am I kidding? It would take me forever to find all the ingredients. Three years later, I come across this little restaurant owned by a lovely lady named Lily, who is also the chef. The food was just as good as what I ate in Bali, if not better! The fried chicken is simply amazing!! The crust is made from scratch with spices that she spent countless hours grinding up. The Nasi Goreng Abang and Nasi Bungkus kept my taste buds dancing. If you like spicy food, this place can definitely make you sweat! After dinner, Lily came out to greet us. We immediately felt the love and passion she has for cooking. Lily tells us that she had just taken over this restaurant and is in the process of changing the name. I've never had Indonesian food at a restaurant before, only at my friend's house. The restaurant was so warm when we walked in, but I'm glad they turned on the AC once we sat down. The water they gave us had no ice in there. LOL. Anyways, we ordered the potato appetizer (Perkedel). It is like a fried mashed potato ball with good flavor; it was a little too salty though. We both ordered the Nasi Padang Bungkus- rice with one fried chicken drumstick, beef with red chili sauce, green chili sauce, yellow curry with one boiled egg and artichoke all on a huge leaf. My BF said compared to other places, this one doesn't give you a lot of meat but a lot more rice. I thought the proportion of rice to meat was off as well. They want you to fill up on rice! I wish there was more sauce on my rice as well. I've heard other places actually wrap everything inside a leaf when its cooking. It gives it more flavor. This place is on the quiet side of Atlantic, the owner told me they are struggling with traffic as well as hire new staff. I've been here few times when it was still Wong Java, ever since the pandemic this side become super quiet. Next door was szechuan impression which they moved to a new location with higher traffic. Down the block we used to have Ritter , my favorite place for gumbo which also closed down. I highly recommend this place, as I've been to Indonesia several times. This place is legit, clean, food taste great and authentic. I love this place Great customer service. Owners are friendly. Yelp has wrong info. This place closed at 7pm. Now called Wayang restaurant. This is not a fancy place, but it is a true gem. Great food made by Lily, who is the queen of the place: owner, chef, and PR. She comes to your table, chats, and talks about her job, the place, the food, her country. All seasoned by her wonderful energy. All the dishes we tried were excellent, and while there we noticed that all the other customers were Indonesian. I've been craving Indonesian food for the longest time and was finally able to satisfy my craving by trying out Wong Java House! There is a small parking lot in the back, but there is plenty of street parking on Valley and the cross street. Wong Java House is a hole in the wall restaurant that seems to be family owned (the only waiters/cashier seemed to be a husband and wife). I came here to try the beef rendang and nasi bungkus, and unfortunately was pretty disappointed by the dishes. The flavor just wasn't there. However, I really enjoyed the chicken satay! The sauce was so good that I dipped all my chicken dishes with it. My favorite dish was the Kwetiaw Goreng. The flat rice noodle was cut very thin and had great texture and was prepared with lots of flavor! I just wish they served Teh Tarik to complete the meal! read more

WARNING!!! Beware of the hidden mandatory 20% tips. Worst experience ever. We came for a Sunday lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty, only 2 parties of customers including us. Food was ok. The problem came with the check. They automatically charged 20% gratuity, AFTER TAX too. We talked to the guy, I believe he's the owner. He insisted there was a 20% tips for 5 people. Came here on a Saturday and the place wasn't packed at all. I've never really been to an authentic Indonesian Restaurant, but my bf's family was over so they decided to try this place! We ordered quite a lot and the food was super good! BUT the food took a while (about 30 minutes) to come out. I have a pet peeve when the food doesn't come out at the same time, but each of the dishes came out in 10 minute intervals. I'm the type of person who likes to have everything all at once (i like to take my pictures), but this place didn't meet that. My favorite dish there would have to be the indo-fried rice! The food wasn't bad but I've had better Indonesian food. The food mostly had a sweet taste to it which I guess is part of the cuisine of this part of Indonesia. The issue I have however is the price. The portions are not worth the prices and we had a party of 5 with 2 kids and 3 adults. We ordered one large bowl of rice and got charged $12. This is the most I've ever paid for a bowl of plain white rice at any Asian restaurant. A chicken entree was $17, it said whole chicken, so I assumed a large portion. What came out was Cornish hen, the size of 2 legs of regular chicken. $11 for 5 small skewers of chicken satay is pricey, and unfortunately the meat seemed weird. Sort of makes you stop and wonder if it's actually chicken. For 3 adults and 2 young kids we paid around $87, which is over $20/person. I'm not sure how that happened, but needless to say, that's the last time I go here. read more
