When I found out my husband had never been to one and that there was one in Hanover, I decided it was an experience he simply had to have before turning 40. So about two weeks ago, we did it. I might be 25-ish years older than the last time I went to Medieval Times, but it's still a very good time. A jousting show, cheering, fun souvenirs, surprisingly decent food, and just a fun time! You may know that they don't do utensils (you're in medieval times now, after all), so everything has to be able to be eaten with your hands. The soup is served in a cup with a handle, but the rest are all things that are eaten with your hands: corn on the cob, roast chicken, a roast potato wedge, garlic bread, and an eclair for dessert. The show was still fun, and it was such a great atmosphere - everyone got so into it, cheering, waving flags, shouting... Is it cheesy and kitschy? Yes. But I still think it's a fun time! Nostalgic, too!

Everybody stays in character and lives up to expectations! I decided to go VIP so your highness could sit in the front. Even got a carnation from our blue knight! Very impressed with the food quality being that they have to serve a ton of people. You're getting an entire half of a split chicken, half of a potato, corn, soup, bread, & dessert. Quite literally the only complaint was the dessert since it was just a measly little eclair. They don't play when it comes to their alcoholic drinks either! And thank goodness for the price they want. The show was great, definitely entertaining, and the one-on-one combat was hilarious. You must go to medieval times at least once!

They don't recommend for kids/teens, because people are joking and talking ish and some of the improv could take a spicy turn at any moment. The chef and the actors walk around to the tables and introduce themselves. People come here to let out a laugh and unwind. The Food: Delicious! The crab cake sandwich was big/fresh all lumps with crispy hot fries that did not disappoint. The package comes with several options, from homestyle meat loaf to Mediterranean salad with chicken stuffed pita that my friend said was really good. You get 2 courses and a non-alcohol beverage. Dessert was good, a dark fudge cake with strawberries and whipped cream, enjoyable. The Drinks: The 2 martini's I had weren't blended well. I would stick with wine or something like a rum & coke. The Storyline: Creative and funny, about a dating show where the two contestants need to stay together for 3 years to get the million-dollar jackpot. Only issue, there's a love triangle. So, you can imagine who all had motives to secure the bag. They bring the audience into the story with question prompts and even had me in the hot seat for questioning by a detective. So hilarious! Looking for something different to do and you feel like meeting people over good food and theater, THIS IS IT!

You can participate or not in the show, as much or as little as you choose. The non-alcoholic beverages are included but they do offer alcohol for purchase. The servers were super and the cast was amazing. You can heckle the cast, ask questions of the suspects or just sit back and watch the performance. The show was full of humor and some double-entendres. The restaurant was a little chilly so where something a little heavier or bring a coat. Best 3.5 hours I've spent in a while and totally worth the ticket price. The whole show takes place in and around the diners making for an up close and personal experience. Don't miss going to one of their shows. Totally worth it!

I honestly want to rate it higher but the tickets were approximately $70 per person which is comparable to the other similar options. The food is the serious shortfall. This is the second year in a row it's been disappointing. The ham was like a lunch meat style ham cut into slices. They also had a white fish in a hollandaise type sauce which was okay. The sides were mashed potatoes (no gravy) , buttery carrots, and a broccoli & cheese dish. You also get a small salad and rolls with butter. It isn't a buffet as you are served in a cafeteria type line. They offer seconds if you're so inclined. But honestly it's kind of like hospital food. We had to eat on the way home and that's pretty disappointing considering the cost. It pails in comparison to Toby's or Ditch Apple theatre. There was people all around us mumbling about the food or lack there of including a grandmother who told her 10 year or so grandchild that she'd be taking him to McDonalds afterwards. Finally, a guy at a table close went outside to smoke his weed 4 times during the evening. So the 4 older couples around him had to endure the unpleasant odor. I'm sure it was noticeable to the servers in our section and anyone seated or working from the front door to the back of the venue.

I sat outside on the patio. To start, I got the calamari appetizer. Yall! Their calamari is so freakin good! The remoulade sauce that comes with it just takes it to the next level. I got the crab cake entree and it was just what I needed. I recommend replacing the tartar sauce with their remoulade sauce. The Tea Time mocktail was very refreshing. The service was good. The only downside is that there was an issue with the gift card that I won from their social media page. After some back and forth, they eventually honored it and all was well. But this experience was definitely better than my past experience, so I'm adding a star.

Usually you feel so rushed at these dinner/shows but we had plenty of time. The food was very good and there were choices that should have made everyone happy. I cannot say enough good things about this performance!! We absolutely enjoyed it. None of us had ever been to a Murder Mystery before so we were ready for something new! The 2 Cast members were amazing! They kept us entertained and laughing the entire time! At the intermission, they have coffee/tea and desert at the same time. We appreciated this because you're always too full to eat desert with dinner but this gave everyone plenty of time to be ready for the delightful carrot cake they provided. The 2 Stars also stood around after the event to talk to everyone and take pictures! I highly, highly recommend this event! After that, I have to say things went off the rails a bit. For a start, this is the first "theatre" that had no stage. Not a small stage, no stage at all. We found ourselves, a group of 30-40 people crammed into a large room on the second floor with barely any room in July with AC so weak it was never below 76F. Then the show began. I was expecting a curtain to rise and a stage to appear, but sadly all the story and acting was done between the tables. I will say the acting ranged from surprisingly good to the obviously inispired acting of the audience members who decided to join in. The story was comedic and easy to follow, with references to Sherlock Holmes and even Indiana Jones. Sadly the heat and the terrible location without a stage made it hard to enjoy when the cast is constantly moving around. If they get a proper venue, I am sure they do wonderful things, but this was more like a test run. That I paid for.

Since they are now doing construction for the new building, I figured this would be one of my last opportunities to see a show in the old theater. It was easy to buy the tickets on Ticketmaster. The shows rotate every couple of months. Right now mean girls is the play for most of the summer. The price includes the play buffet and regular fountain drinks. Any specialty drinks or alcohol alcoholic beverages cost extra. Arrival was easy I didn't have physical tickets, but when I gave my name at the front table, they were easily able to locate my reservation. If you have a small group, you will be seated with the strangers that you can make friends with.. It is a very unique place because all of the staff are also the actors. So you will have to place any orders you want at intermission early because they don't have much time since they have to prepare for the second act. Overall, the show was very entertaining. You can tell there is a need for a new theater due to the age of this one, but it was still quaint. I do recommend that you tip based on the original ticket price and not just on the drinks that you get. Speaking of drinks, the prices are very reasonable. If you get the signature show drink you also get to keep the souvenir cup. For this show, it was a cream sickle that you could either get with alcohol or without. I think it was only 1250 for the cocktail that included the souvenir cup. I think I will try to make one more show this year. I know my dad would probably love it so I plan on bringing him before the summer is done.
