Food was good. Served/performers were awesome. An awesome production of Frozen. It's a must see.

Outstanding performances from local talent. Just saw Misery tonight and so enjoyed the performance. As always the staff was great along with the dinner. Washington County Playhouse is a gem here in Hagerstown.

Our young friends had such fun seeing The Ugly Duckling at The Washington County Playhouse and Children's Theatre!

Overcharging for minimal entertainment, and terrible food. Overall, they out of touch with their customer base.

After about a year of hearing my (adult) son and his GF rave about productions by this company, I…read morefinally had an opportunity to go to one of their shows. WONDERFUL. We saw the Valentines Cabaret. Great singers! Fun show! Loved it. The venue was nice (Leesburg Brewing Company) and made for an intimate show. Service there was good. But the food was hit or miss. (It did not take away from the show.) My only negative comment is that the act is continuous, and in such a small venue if you have to ... um... "go", it can be problematic. I was taught to never get up during a performance, to wait for a break in the show... there really was only intermission ( and I didn't have to go then! ). And if was to try to make a break for it, the only path without asking people to push in their chairs would have been right across the area where they were performing (one wants to call it a stage, but there wasn't an actual stage), so I would have been walking right through them! HOW RUDE. Luckily, I made it. They were awesome but they came back out for the curtain call I was like, "oh God please don't let them sing another song!" LOL! Anyway - all that is to say that you should make use of the time you get at intermission.

Usually you feel so rushed at these dinner/shows but we had plenty of time. The food was very good and there were choices that should have made everyone happy. I cannot say enough good things about this performance!! We absolutely enjoyed it. None of us had ever been to a Murder Mystery before so we were ready for something new! The 2 Cast members were amazing! They kept us entertained and laughing the entire time! At the intermission, they have coffee/tea and desert at the same time. We appreciated this because you're always too full to eat desert with dinner but this gave everyone plenty of time to be ready for the delightful carrot cake they provided. The 2 Stars also stood around after the event to talk to everyone and take pictures! I highly, highly recommend this event! What made it even more special was that I was able to take my 15-year-old also!

We were left standing in the middle of the floor with others walking to their seats until we asked the Manage for somewhere for our party to sit. The Do Or Die Mystery Dinner Theater is so much fun and a great value. We decided to try it out,…read morebecause I found an Amazon Local deal and we enjoy this type of theater. They put this on at the Grand Historic Venue every last Saturday of the month. The owner (CJ) makes sure to explain everything that goes on and that any special needs for guests are taken care of. Compared to other mystery dinners I have experienced, this was more interactive, because you participate in the show - Great, if you are a super-sleuth. If you are, then you are really going to enjoy this show. Also, I don't go to these for the food, but the food at this one was really good and very well presented. There are a few things to remember if you are planning to experience this: 1.) Cocktails - Bring cash, because the bar does not accept credit cards. Soft drinks are complimentary, but they are only free during the dinner service; 2.) Overnight Accommodations - If you are staying in town for the night of the show, the Lord Baltimore, Sheraton and Monaco Hotels are a "super-short" walk away. There is an Embassy Suites next door, but these other options are available if you can't get a room there, and; 3.) Parking - There are garages either across the street of a short walk away, so there should be no worries about finding somewhere to park.

They don't recommend for kids/teens, because people are joking and talking ish and some of the improv could take a spicy turn at any moment. The chef and the actors walk around to the tables and introduce themselves. People come here to let out a laugh and unwind. The Food: Delicious! The crab cake sandwich was big/fresh all lumps with crispy hot fries that did not disappoint. The package comes with several options, from homestyle meat loaf to Mediterranean salad with chicken stuffed pita that my friend said was really good. You get 2 courses and a non-alcohol beverage. Dessert was good, a dark fudge cake with strawberries and whipped cream, enjoyable. The Drinks: The 2 martini's I had weren't blended well. I would stick with wine or something like a rum & coke. The Storyline: Creative and funny, about a dating show where the two contestants need to stay together for 3 years to get the million-dollar jackpot. Only issue, there's a love triangle. So, you can imagine who all had motives to secure the bag. They bring the audience into the story with question prompts and even had me in the hot seat for questioning by a detective. So hilarious! Looking for something different to do and you feel like meeting people over good food and theater, THIS IS IT!

Is it a nice venue? Yup! Not super cozy, but surprisingly intimate when the music starts. I found…read morethe interactions with the performers one of the highlights. And you will definitely have a seat. Will it be a good seat? That's another matter altogether. Frankly, I found the way The Birchmere's ticketing system works super confusing and not all that intuitive. If you're in-the-know, you'll get a great seat. If you're coming from out-of-town without any familiarity of the system or show up late, you may be hosed. And the staff, frankly, aren't very helpful in illuminating what all you need to do, even when pressed. I guess that's because just about anyone new won't know, and so will likely pester them with the same questions. And this happens over and over, day after day. I get their impatience. So, why not just print up a flyer, posted to their website, that says what the steps are? Barring that, let me help you be in-the-know. Here's what you need to do: 1. Buy your ticket, preferably in advance. You can pick up the ticket at will-call day of. That won't be a problem. 2. Arrive before 5 to get your chit. This established your place in line. It's open seating, so the lower your number, the better your potential seat will be. 3. Come back promptly at 6 (or just hang out and have a drink until 6). They'll start calling numbers at 6. 4. Grab seats at a table which you think will give you the best vantage if the stage. 5. Since you have 1.5 hours to kill, grab some food. (Clearly, they expect you to have dinner here.) Or grab a drink and nurse it for a while. Order another before the show. There. It may lead to a better experience at the venue. I would've given The Birchmere 5 stars if it weren't for the confusing ticketing system. I really did like the venue, and now that I'm familiar with their arcane ticketing and entry process, my next visit (and there *will* be a next visit, since I already have the tickets!) will be oh so much better. I hope that yours is too. :)

Staff are really nice and helpful but it is such a strange venue. Of course you buy a ticket…read moreonline. Then it gets interesting. You show up way before the show to get a numbered ticket. Imagine you as a kid at the deli counter getting in line. My friend showed up at 5 for us for the 7:30 show. That number is good for a group of up to 6. Then, you wait until doors actually open around 6 pm. At that point, they call your number and you and you go in to to get table. It's not a mad rush or anything but it is a little unorganized. Honestly every seat is a bad one. Here's why. The dining staff.... Right? Who knew it's dinner and a show. They ask if you would like to order. The food is decent like cafeteria style and it's not soo overpriced. The portions are HUGe. I do like the fact that you don't stand around on sticky floors during a show but it is odd. Really quickly before the show most of the food is gone but drinks keep flowing. The staff do a great job of not disturbing the audience but the artist we had was a little affected by it. Back to the seats, it's bad since every single person almost has to turn some way in a chair or move the chair to see the artist. Those facing to the back of the artist just turn their whole chair around if there is space. They have an off menu Arnold Palmer. The lasagna portion was HUGE with a salad. A couple can split it. It is a tad better than frozen but it is what it is. They probably can churn out all the food at the same time because it is like catering style and lukewarm when it hits the table. Would I go again? Only if it was an artist I completely loved. Would I go on a whim? Probably not. It's a little bit of a choose your adventure but it's only one path.
