    Key Lime Martini

Brix 27 is SO GOOD. We went for a friend's birthday dinner and the service and food were both amazing. Our only complaint was that the upstairs where we were seated was very hot. But our server took care of it by opening the door to allow in a nice cool breeze. The food was phenomenal! We had the baked brie special, the focaccia bread service (the jam and olive oil butter were too good), the deviled eggs, the corn chowder (so packed with flavor we passed it around so we all got to enjoy it) and we shared 3 flat breads (hot Hawaiian, apple and goat cheese & margarita) and the pear salad. Every part of the meal was amazing. The bar was also a great experience! The wine flight was off healthy portions; the espresso and key lime martinis were SO good and the bees' knees was perfect! We will definitely be back as often as we are in the area!

Lovely restaurant/bar in Martinsburg with delicious cocktails and food. There were so many interesting and good sounding cocktails that it was hard to pick two - we did the Raspberry Bramble and Berry Margarita, both of which were delicious. They also offered wine flights plus there is a boutique wine store. We had the Tuna Crudo Tower and Roasted Brussel Sprouts. The tuna was nice and fresh with a good portion plus plenty of rice (the spicy kimchi rice wasn't spicy which was good), cucumbers and wonton crisps. The Brussels Sprouts came in a really nice size portion and was tender with some crunch too. I had the Apple and Goat Cheese Flatbread which was really delicious; I would come back just to get that. My husband got the Braised Short Ribs which was really good as well. The Flourless Chocolate Cake might have looked like a big brownie but it was much better with a delicious, cool, rich chocolate flavor. Only thing that we could wish for would have been some vanilla ice cream. Riley was our waitress who was friendly, efficient and gave us good recommendations when we had trouble deciding. I appreciated the male bartender who offered me a bag for our leftover containers as we started to walk out. Delicious food, drinks and nice staff. Great Martinsburg gem and coming back to Brix 27 will be a highlight of our visits to Martinsburg.

Nice place. The vibes of the place is very nice. The wait staff is friendly enough but the menu is somewhat small and the drinks were just ok. Overall it was a nice place to visit

Delicious! Food was great- the crab-cakes were delicious. We had a wonderful date night and look forward to going back.

This is the Margherita Flatbread that was nothing to write home about!

When we walked in, the hostess was not very personable and did not seem to be wearing appropriate attire for the style of the restaurant! Told her we had a reservation....she looked and saw we wanted a booth and asked if we wanted to sit at a table instead...I booked a booth, seat me at a booth! Then she walked away without asking us to follow...very unprofessional for the face of your restaurant! Our server came over promptly. She dressed the part appropriately and was quite knowledgeable and friendly! We ordered the Calamari and Truffle fries for appetizers....The truffle fries were excellent! But the Calamari tasted as if someone marinated them in salt, dusted them with more salt, then fried them in salt oil. I instantly felt dehydrated after eating a few! We also ordered a Margherita Flatbread that was NOT even as good as the cheesy breadsticks at Little Caesar's! My Brix 27 Old Fashion was delicious, and my wife's wine flight was great as well! She ordered a glass of one of the flight wines and it came less than 1/2 the glass....it had about as much as one of the flight glasses! Should've just spent the extra dollar and got another flight!!! This was our first time, and our last and I thought I was going to be exceptionally surprised on our 21st wedding anniversary, but no, we were just VERY DISAPPOINTED! Maybe I should've tried FOOD BY FIRE in Hedgesville.... Buyer beware....there are many other places to spend your money! $135 for my wife and I was quite expensive for what we got!

Our party of four stopped in last night, and enjoyed ourselves. We had made a reservation, however there were not many people in the business. Love the look and feel of this spot! We started with drinks, followed by appetizers, and finished with our meals. All of the food was delicious! The drinks were strong ! We all agreed our server was not very friendly. Overall, this place has a ton of potential!

Hubs and I came here for an anniversary dinner, and enjoyed it immensely. The restaurant had a big open airiness to it, so we immediately felt welcome and appreciative of the ambience. We started with a lager for him and the berry mule for me. I asked for a little extra "berry" since the vodka was a bit overpowering in the drink. That's a good problem to have, imo, and they were very nice about topping up the juice. Delicious. We decided to test out the truffle fries, and the portion was huge and very shareable. We both enjoyed the flavor (and devoured them quickly), but thought a little more crispiness would not have gone awry. We went for the flatbread pizza as entree, and I was so full from the fries and drink I only managed two pieces. The taste was spot on, though. We brought home the extras for weekend snacking. Score. We finished by sharing an apple tart with ice cream for dessert. I was busy yakking away to our waiter when I looked back and most of the tart had already found its way down someone else's gullet. That's how good it is...you gotta fight for your half of that tart! No messing around. Consider yourself warned. Ha. Enjoy!

    New York Cheesecake

Another phenomenal dining experience at Brix27! Makayla's (I apologize for any misspelling) attentiveness, personable manner, and recommendations made this experience one for the books! I have dined at Brix 27 countless times over the past 6 years, and have raved about the staff, ambiance and the food to everyone who asks me where to go for an amazing and satisfying dining experience in Martinsburg, WV. Among other culinary favs, the smoked caesar salad, truffle fries and red wine selection are definitely my vices. However, tonight I decided to try the filet mignon. My imagination could not touch the reality of the flavor and tenderness of the filet mignon! Cooked to perfection, with what appeared to be lightly sprinkled kosher salt, the filet melted in my mouth - every bite literally demanded that I have one more bite! I have had filet mignon at other "chain" fine dining restaurants; however, NONE have been as tender, flavorful and juicy as the filet mignon I had tonight! The mashed potato puree that accompanied the filet was also perfection - silky smooth and lightly salted so that the potato flavor shined through. I opted for a light ale to accompany dinner, Cougar Bait. Excellent choice as it did not overpower the amazing meal! To wrap this dining experience, I opted for the housemade New York cheesecake. New York Cheesecake is my absolute favorite! This is a dessert that can right or wrong because getting the "NY cheesecake texture and flavor" right can be tricky. Brix 27 has it! This cheesecake, served with real whipped cream, is it! Kudos Brix 27, Makayla and all of the wonderful staff! Until next time...

She was attentive, responsive, and…read moregenuinely seemed to care about our experience--especially when the food fell far short. In my view, good service deserves to be recognized regardless of kitchen performance, and Lydia absolutely earned that. This was our second visit. My wife and I enjoy oysters and were excited to find a nearby spot offering fresh half shells--especially with their $1 oyster special on Tuesday nights. On our first visit, we tried the "double D" oysters, which were large, plump, and fresh--exactly what we were hoping for. They were the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the lobster rolls didn't live up to the same standard. At that price point, they should be more substantial, and the bread should be appropriate for the dish. Instead, the roll was dry and the lobster portion was underwhelming. I'd recommend skipping it. That said, Lydia's service that night was excellent. Last night, however, was a different experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by someone who appeared to be the floor manager, who made seating two people without a reservation feel like an inconvenience--despite several open tables and a largely empty outdoor area. Not a great first impression. Once seated, we struck up a conversation with a nearby table and ordered an appetizer, a dozen mixed oysters, and entrees. I went with the flank steak sandwich featured on the menu, while my wife ordered the paella. The iced tea was good, and my wife's cocktail was well-made and generously poured--no complaints there. The salmon bite appetizer, while tasty, felt overpriced for what it was: essentially broiled salmon on lettuce with a maple glaze. When my sandwich arrived, it came with exactly three overcooked, limp asparagus spears--I should've gone for the tots. The sandwich itself was even more underwhelming: a small bun with maybe three ounces of meat, a few mushy onions, and some cheese. My first bite was mostly gristle and fat. I understand flank steak isn't a lean cut, but when served as a sandwich, it should be properly trimmed and sliced. There's no excuse for a $20 sandwich to be that poorly prepared. The overwhelming taste of black pepper didn't help either. I ended up sending it back after one bite. Lydia handled it as professionally as possible, but I declined a replacement. As for the paella, it raised a different issue--how do you end up with overcooked shrimp and undercooked scallops in the same hot dish? It doesn't make much sense. While the flavor was decent overall, the execution didn't justify the price. To summarize: Lydia is excellent--if you go, take care of her. The oysters remain a strong point: fresh, plump, and enjoyable, though they could be more generous with the horseradish and cocktail sauce. The biggest disappointment was the lack of accountability from management. There was no visit from the floor manager (Mr. Inconvenienced from earlier) or anyone from the kitchen to address the issues, leaving Lydia to handle everything herself. The wait staff deserves better. If you're going for oysters, it's worth a visit. If you're planning a full dinner, be prepared for high prices, small portions, and inconsistent execution. The service staff and menu have potential--but the kitchen needs to step up. One final note: if you're charging $36 for a pour of WhistlePig whiskey, it should be served properly--with a clean glass and appropriate ice. Serving it with debris floating in the glass is unacceptable. You lost that customer too. Lydia is the ONLY reason why this is rated above one star. Kitchen needs to step up. Big. You're going to start losing servers.

He told me Maryland specialized in Cabernet Franc and Viognier and I knew nothing about Big Cork prior to arrival, but dad it was named as a top 10 tasting room by USA Today. Bold claim, especially coming from California. It was an absolutely beautiful day to visit Big Cory on Sunday. U called to confirm I didn't need a reservation, was told I didn't. That was nice, so I continued my drive to the winery, following three other vehicles that turned into the winery grounds. Ample parking, stunning grounds and views of the surrounding area. A big white building with a surround patio greeted me as I walked in, taking in the ambiance of the place. It was busy with patrons sitting outside, standing at mo sitting at the bar. I was greeted by an English chap, names Andy who said he works be right with me. Gave me a few minutes to look around and take in the experience. Andy greeted me and told me to grab any seat. Told him o was new to Maryland wine, as it was my first time at any winery outside of Paso Robles. I guts my expectations were high but I dialed them back as I ordered my tasting flight. Not a big white fan, I was impressed I'm with their Chardonnay, not buttery like the California. It was light, crisp and fruity. A very well done white. In fact I enjoyed it more than the Sauvignon Blanc, which if drinking a white I usually lean towards. Found this a bit too sweet. On to the reds, which is what I was reliably looking forward to. Andy took time to explain each wine, some characteristics and processes behind each glass. Their Meritage, a red blend was okay but was missing something for my liking. I did however enjoy the Cab Franc as single varietal. Never got to the Siberian Ice but was treated to the Syrah, Nebbiolo and Black Label Malbec. Those last two tasting were wonderful. My tastings done, I ordered a glass of the Rose Brut as I took care of Andy and my bill. I did walk out with a bottle of Chardonnay and Cab Franc. Overall a wonderful tasting with some good wines. Worth checking out but being from Paso I'm not going out of my way to find East Coast wines. I know what my palate enjoys but a little change now and then can be a good thing. If I get t girlfriend out, we will be back.
