I genuinely think the Wawa security guard has a personal vendetta against me. It all started on the Fourth of July around 1:00 a.m. when I jokingly asked him if he was on bike watch. Apparently that joke did not land. He looked at me like I had just committed a felony and gave me so much attitude that I started wondering if I'd accidentally insulted his entire family. I figured maybe he was just having a rough night, so I let it go. Fast forward to tonight around 10:45 p.m. My friend Keira had just gotten off an absolutely brutal shift and decided she deserved a little treat. She confidently ordered a cookies and cream milkshake with caramel, took one sip, closed her eyes, and said, "This is exactly what I needed." Then... we made the mistake of looking at the nutrition facts. 1,000 CALORIES. The smile disappeared so fast I thought someone had unplugged her. We all just stood there in complete silence trying to process the fact that she had accidentally ordered a liquid Thanksgiving dinner. While we were standing in the pickup area waiting for our milkshakes--you know, the exact place you're supposed to wait--the security guard walked over and told us to "clear the lane." Sir... we would've loved to, but unless you wanted us waiting behind the Slurpee machine, we really had nowhere else to go. A simple, "Excuse me, can I get through?" would've worked just fine. Now, let's talk about the shake itself because despite the emotional rollercoaster, it was actually incredible. Thick, creamy, cold, and exactly what you want after surviving a long shift. But the caramel? Whoever made that milkshake at 10:45 must've fallen asleep with their finger on the caramel pump because there was SO. MUCH. CARAMEL. It wasn't a drizzle--it was a full-blown flood. Every sip felt like getting tackled by caramel. I'm pretty sure there was more caramel than milkshake by the end. Keira went through all five stages of grief in about ten minutes: excitement, denial, checking the calories again because there was no way it could actually be 1,000, acceptance... and then finishing the entire thing anyway because at that point there was no turning back. Overall, Wawa still delivered. The food was great, the milkshake was dangerously good, and Keira got the emotional support dessert she deserved--even if it doubled as accidental bulking season. As for the security guard, I'm convinced I've somehow become his supervillain origin story. Still love Wawa. Just hoping next time I leave with a milkshake instead of a new enemy. read more

I was also surprised to find out that after 11:00 a.m. they stop serving pancakes and omelets, even though breakfast sandwiches are still available. It would have been nice if the full breakfast menu was offered a little longer. The biggest issue for me, however, was food handling. I watched employees place dirty register receipts directly on top of prepared sandwiches, including an egg and cheese that sat with the receipt on it for several minutes. Thermal receipts aren't something I want touching my food, and it completely turned me off. I also noticed several employees with long hair and facial hair working without hairnets or beard nets, which didn't inspire confidence in the kitchen's sanitation practices. Neptune Market has always been a family favorite because the food is tasty and reasonably priced, so it's disappointing to leave this review. I hope they can improve their food handling practices and kitchen hygiene because I'd love to see them get back to the standards that kept us coming back for so many years.
