I used to love this place but they have sold out and changed their recipe to be more distribution friendly. Homemade vanilla ice cream does not have 3 types of gums and polysorbate 80 in it. Very disappointed that they no longer are what they were. The shop in surf city has lost the charm of the old shop, the staff is poorly trained, my wife's favorite ice cream is no longer served there and it is no longer a fun friendly place to go. Years after making the switch from the bid dipper to aunt bea's we are heading back to the Big Dipper. Great quirky place for ice cream they make themselves. Flavors vary from visit to visit, but they've got an up-to-date list of today's flavors on the website, a very nice feature. A small serving is huge and the ice cream is excellent. Out of the dozens of ice cream shops on LBI, the Woo Hoo stands out to me as one of the best. This is a cute little outdoor walk up spot with homemade ice cream. There's plenty of space to sit and relax while you enjoy and also a small dedicated parking lot which is obviously hard to come by on the island. They offer a wide variety of flavors and also have several dairy free options. The worst part of this place is that it's so hard to make a decision on what to have because everything sounds so incredible. Some of my recent favorites have been the cold brew ice cream and the fluffer nutter ice cream. The only gripe I have is that the price for toppings are steep...$1.50 for a handful of sprinkles seems like robbery but it is what it is. Not enough to deter me from coming back. Early in the season so I guess the menu is limited. They did still have a fair amount of flavors on the menu but a lot that day seemed marshmallow based which is not my fav which was a bummer because the rest of the ingredients sounded good - s'mores is a perfect example of that. I settled on cold brew ice cream with sprinkles which was good, could actually have been more cold brew forward. Staff was friendly and answered all my questions about the flavors. Wow, I'm not a huge ice cream store fan- I'm never very happy with it. I ordered the Tough Cookie flavor (Oreos and cookie dough) and actually finished the entire cup and wanted more. It was obvious that it was homemade and the ingredients were high quality. My SIL got the dairy free Froconut and it was so delicious. It was like a toasted coconut light soft serve ice cream. The funniest name for an ice cream joint so of course I had to try! This place looks pretty spacious on the outside, but once inside it's fairly small. The ice cream order wasn't difficult but when asked about sprinkles, they only had rainbow and no chocolate sprinkles. New owners? They covered up and enclosed the charming porch like front on the building. Feels claustrophobic now. Also the pick up window is now off to the side where the door was o kitchen is. Kind weird my wife and I both felt it's a strange place now. Before it was beachy and fun, now it feels like it could be in a strip mall. They used to have specials on the food menu like crab cakes, salads and other gourmet bites. Now it's just burgers and fried chicken. Very disappointed. Doubtful we would eat here unless in a pinch. The Woohoo is a walk-up outdoor cafe that serves a bunch of labeled homemade vegan options. I liked the Griffin vegan blackbean burger ($11.75) though it's mushy and falls apart easily. The vegan nugs ($6.50) are a nice snack and have good texture and taste. Your kids will love these nuggets. Tried Woohoo's ice cream bars and pineapple float.. both were phenomenal. I've been to the Dole factory in Hawaii and the float reminded me of that. Not too sour with the pineapple and some ice cream in there to balance it out. Ice cream bars are really great. ThiCk, too. Disclaimer: I've only ever had the ice cream here Every single flavor I've had here is absolutely delicious! I've been an lbi local for a while and this is my go to place and everyone I bring here also loves it! The ice cream is so delicious and fresh! They frequently change their flavors which is nice so you get an array of multiple delicious flavors! I just have two suggestions: 1) write what's in the flavors, sometimes it gets tedious for me asking what's in 50% of the flavors. I once got cannoli ice cream and it had pistachios in it, which I have an allergy to so that wasn't fun but my mistake for not asking what was in it. 2) they be able to hand pack pints - They change their flavors frequently and if I find a flavor I love I'm not able to bring it home. Pints are only available in their fridge on the side. If they don't have the pint, they can't make you one which I don't understand since it's easy to scoop pints in but whatever read more

[3.75 Stars] Following an excellent dinner at Parker's Garage we drove to The Woohoo for dessert. Offering several grilled and fried meals, and specializing in made-to-order ice cream sandwiches, we came for simple cups of Woohoo's homemade ice cream. "Simple," however unjustly characterizes both the rich consistency of their product, and the range of off-beat ice cream flavors offered. Signage proclaimed that a Clam Chowder flavored ice cream is annually offered at the LBI Chowder Fest. For our visit the selection included avocado pistachio, cannoli, cold-brewed coffee and brown butter pecan. At $4.95 for a generous two-scoop cone or cup, the prices are a value. I found the mouth-feel of Woohoo ice cream to be consistent with premium ice cream, but the flavoring to be cloyingly sweet (the brown butter pecan, in particular). Each flavor sampled was clearly identifiable as what it was listed. The Woohoo occupies a fairly small shack and while it has a few tables, seems to do more of a take-out trade. Counter service won't win any speed records, but isn't unreasonably slow. A fun stop. read more
