You can buy the exact same ice cream on sale at at local supermarkets or mega-retailers for five to six times less. Literally. By far the most delicious flavors are Strawberry Cheesecake and Cherry Garcia, in that order. I am a former high-end chef, so I should know. Ben & Jerry's will always sell real ice cream and thus never replace its dreamy dairy fat with much cheaper, awful tasting vegetable fat as most other major brands have done. Go for it but buy it on sale at any supermarket or mega-retailer. What's not to like about Ben & Jerry's? It's been a while since I've gone to a walk-in store or bought a pint from the grocery store, but I've always enjoyed the many creatively named flavors and ingredient combinations (though I still can't find my all time favorite: Wild Maine Blueberry). There are about two dozen flavors available including a simple vanilla and Mint Chocolate Chunk (essentially Mint Chocolate Chip), which my boys enjoyed. I opted for the Tonight's Dough. I can't name all of the ingredients, but it was decadently good. They offer kids, small, and large sizes. There is not much to say about Ben & Jerry. They make very good ice cream in interesting flavors and sell it in almost every retail outlet imaginable. It is damn near ubiquitous. Yet, it takes on special attraction when it comes out of a cute turquoise shop a block off the beach on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. When the sun, sand and surf have bleached, parched and blinded you, there is little better than cool creamy B & J to bring you to your senses. It is a refreshing slap in the face. This small tropical Oasis at the JerZee Shore might carry a small beach premium for the convenience of not driving to find immediate relief, but it is so worth the few extra shekels to sit at one of their tables under the roof of its shady porch, and chillax with a sweet cold one. Keeps the kids quiet, too. So, next time you feel like you're in a Camus novel somewhere along the hot Tunisian coast being sandblasted by the unrelenting Mediterranean sun, remember that bright aqua blue Ben & Jerry bungalow on the boulevard in Beach Haven. I love B&J. We literally went here every night after dinner. They have Coconut Seven Layer Bar which is not sold in any store I have been to. It just tastes fresher than the stuff you buy in stores (which I still love). Would love to see Chubby Hubby on their menu. Pure heaven. On a busy night, because there are kids running around and parents taking forever, the line moves semi slow. They do have multiple people working so just be patient and avoid smacking any of these annoying kids! ENJOY! read more

This Ben & Jerry's is very middle-of-the-road. I've eaten here with friends and family many times over the years and we haven't encountered any egregious problems, but the experience (compared to the average B&J's ice cream parlor) is pretty average. First of all, this shop is designed so that there is no interior for customers. You place your order at the window, pay, pick it up, and sit down at one of the few picnic tables they have on their deck. This is not a major inconvenience, but during a hot, humid summer day, it would be nice to be able to open a door to air conditioning and take a seat inside. Secondly, this location is run entirely by teenagers and they don't really have a clue about their trade. They ask way too many questions (not out of politeness, out of ignorance) and they pretty much look to you to describe how to create the sundaes/creations they have displaying in their store pictures. Again, not a big deal, but very different from what I'm used to. Thirdly/Finally, their menu is limited because it's such a small location and I think their quality of goods may actually be lower than at their sister stores. When I ordered a hot fudge sundae, the hot fudge was only slightly warm and was all piled on one side of my bowl, sticking heavily to itself and to the side of the dish. Their ice cream flavor selection also appeared to be less extensive than at other locations. All that being said, it's still Ben & Jerry's ice cream and it still BLOWS AWAY some of the crappy one-off ice cream parlors you'll find down Bay Avenue. This is the only ice cream I'll eat while in town and I do recommend it over the other places. You just can't expect it to be comparable to how it'd be back home; you are down the shore, after all! read more

Given how many other ice cream places are near this location I am still perplexed by how it's line was so long. The ice cream was fine but the sugar cone was so small compared to the regular sized ice cream that it actually fell onto my shirt. The waffle cones also leaked from the bottom getting ice cream on your shoes. There was no bathroom in the facility so I could not even wash my hands. The service is very slow as it took over five minutes to ask for a cup instead. The whole trip was unenjoyable and I strongly recommend going to another near by ice cream parlor. read more

The ice cream was fine but they put wayyy too much ice cream on the cones so you had better ask for a bowl upfront (if you try to go back and get one later you'll have to wait for like ten minutes which feels like 2 billion minutes when your ice cream is leaking out of the bottom of your waffle cone onto your shoes). Also there's no bathroom so when you inevitably stain your face, hands, shirt, pants, and shoes with an ice cream flavor that has a name that explains literally nothing about what it contains you will have no place to wash up. Don't take your kids there because they'll leave looking like an ad for Johnson and Johnson travel wipes. 3/10 read more

Nice location in LBI. Place is a house converted into an ice cream joint. Or at least it looks like that any way. They have a porch with table where you can sit and have your ice cream. Had a strawberry cheesecake cone. The ice cream had a very artificial taste to it and the waffle cone didn't impress. I know they make their own cones, but the taste of the cone was flat. Almost like eating a wax cone. I would stick with a mom and pop ice cream shop where it is home made. read more
