I wanted to be excited about this. Woodies has been a go to for our family for years and I've previously left high reviews on other platforms as well as yelp. But the sizes have shifted (I get it) and the prices have gone way up (also get it) but now the quality isn't what it was and the wait time is to much.... I was thinking that maybe it was just across the board but then I tried a different burger place down the road and it was great. I hope Woodies gets back to what it was but it was average, pricey, and the reason for the lower stars.... The wait was really really long. We ordered and waited to sit (which is fine it's small) but even after sitting it took a while and came out some like warm some decent.... Came down the shore on a warm but windy April day. Decided to wheel into Woodies for lunch. This is an order at the window, grab a seat, listen for name, cash only joint, and it's great. Went basic with the California cheeseburger, just means lettuce, tomato and onion. The produce is really good. The burgers are great, yellow American melted nicely with a good bun to burger ratio. This places reminds me of those 50s burger places that were very popular in the 80s. It's not all ambiance here though. The service is pretty good, and the burgers are very good. Parking can be a little challenging so leave yourself a little time to find a spot and walk on busy nights. read more

For being a drive in burger joint, they have fresh ground beef from local butcher shop, Oakie's. It's definitely an excellent place to stop by and have an Amercana meal and ice cream. Service is good, quick, and friendly-ish. Outdoor seating is kept clean and umbrellas are placed at every table to give you respite from the UV rays. Super mediocre spot, wouldn't go back again. Whoever said this was like a burger you'd make in your backyard, is correct. The seating is uncomfortable. And they don't give you any napkins or have them on the tables, they only have them in one dispenser over by the order counter. This burger burger was small and nothing special. The flavor wasn't there and it was kind of dry. It's funny how they can't even give you pickles on the side--you only get one pickle slice. This was the California cheese burger (so it's a cheeseburger with lettuce/tomato/onion as a normal cheeseburger should have!). $10.13, cash only but the tax comes out to a weird number. read more

Local place that seems like it's been around for years. I feel a majority of these 5 star reviews are due to locals who feel nostalgic about this place and just love the business - which is cool! But if we are going to be real- the quality of the food is not 5 stars. The burgers taste nothing greater than grilling burgers in your own backyard. The root beer float was what you would expect. Fries tasted like what you would get from the frozen food section. Prices are high LBI prices that do not match the quality of the food. I tried Woodies years ago and just went back yesterday. We called to order for pickup and it took about 20 times to get through. The food was ready for pickup in 20 minutes, which was great! I had the chicken tenders and fries with honey mustard and they were good. The burgers are also pretty good, however they are slightly overpriced. We LOVE Woodies! No trip to LBI is complete without visiting Woodies for a fantastic cheesesteak, fried clams and burgers/dogs. The milks shakes are also wonderful. If you go in the evening, they often have live music which adds to the fun. On a recent trip, my young son dropped his milkshake. I went to buy him a new one and the owner gave us a replacement free of charge. Amazing customer service and compassion to families with small kids! It's a win all around! read more

Best burgers on LBI no question. As you go to take a bite you can savor the char broil that only comes from a quality burger cooked over flame. Done perfectly at "medium". Hot, juicy, just a hint if pink in the center. I always go for the onion rings instead of fries, but both are good. Milk shakes and ice cream are all hand made too. Definitely not health food. The 4 stars was that there was some kind of schmutz on the table and one chair that we had to clean. I understand that you've got high volume but you've also got a lot of great kids working for you. There is live music outside on the patio weekly and the absolute friendliest service. My friend and I went to LBI for the first time, and we happened to stake out a spot on the beach really close to Woodies. I love how you can substitute any beef burger with a turkey burger, chicken, or veggie burger. I got the cheddar burger (cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion) with a veggie patty, and it was delicious! My friend and I split an order of Dirty Fries, which were seasoned with Old Bay. They were so yummy! We came back a few hours later for ice cream, and that did not disappoint either! The ice cream flavors rotate frequently, and you can sample flavors before ordering them. I had S'mores, and my friend had Monster Cookie. Both were amazing, but the S'mores ice cream was a standout. A lot of times, flavors like S'mores tend to taste artificial, but this ice cream tasted like a S'more fresh off a campfire. I've been going to Long Beach Island my entire life and this is the first time I've eaten at Woodies after driving by it so many times. First of all, the atmosphere is awesome! You order your food at the window and there's plenty of outside seating. There is usually live music outside that completes the setting. The food was great too! There are plenty of options of burgers, sandwiches, wings and sides. I had the Maui burger which had pineapple, bacon and teriyaki sauce - it was delicious. There are several signs that say all burgers are made medium-well unless you request otherwise. I had mine medium-well and there was a little pink but I liked it. I also ordered the small fry as a side and it was definitely enough to share with 2 people. The service is super friendly and the food was ready very fast. The parking lot is small but there is street parking nearby if you can't find a spot - this place is definitely worth the walk! read more
