We had the wings, fish tacos, and a chicken sandwich -- and each dish was better than the last. The wings were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the fish tacos were fresh and had just the right amount of kick, and the chicken sandwich was juicy and satisfying. The vibe of the place was beachy, welcoming, and laid-back -- just what you want at the Shore. Service was fast and friendly, food came out hot, and everything tasted made with care. We had a lunch (sandwiches) here last year that was excellent - we took it to go since our rental is just across the street. YESTERDAY, my son and I wandered in from the beach and wanted to split a sandwich so we stopped in again and ordered an Italian sub with the works (you have to ask for mayo), some cole slaw and a piece of crumb cake. Sandwich was excellent, cole slaw needed a touch of salt, and the crumb cake was outstanding. While in the shop I wandered over to the spot where they keep the bagels and asked if they made them on site and the young lady responded...yes, we make them fresh every day. So TODAY, I walked over and got half a dozen bagels (two everything, one sesame, one blueberry, one French toast and one habanero cheddar). Weave been getting our bagels from a place up the street FOR YEARS and I will never go back because the Lighthouse Deli has the best bagels on the Island. $10 for a half dozen and they are as good as, or better than, our go-to place back home. I must admit, they get a little backed up at lunchtime (might be a loss of help since we're here in mid August), but it's worth it. The food was absolutely disappointing: sad previously frozen McDonald like hashbrowns, omelet was so so, coffee was pretty bad even though they kind of alluded to express li drinks and varieties of coffee drinks. The one bright light was the outstanding waitress who was constantly friendly and checking on us and helped us. read more

We picked up a last-minute sandwich platter and some cole slaw for unexpected guests, and everything was delicious. I thought there would be leftovers, but ... only a wedge or two for the next day. . Year 2 for the surf city location and they're going to be top dogs when you make a left over that bridge. 30 different style bagels , the subs were tremendous looking on seeded sub rolls. Bigger version of their Manahawkin location with both indoor and outdoor seats to chill a bit before getting back on the beach. Nicest people operate this establishment and don't think cuz it's called a deli it doesn't have the best bagels on both the island and the mainland. read more

Sadly since the change to a full sit down their hoagies are just lacking, less meat than used to be ... used to be my go to for hoagies ... sadly disappointed! Their deli off the island is still awesome and the sandwiches there are excellent! read more

Just don't make the mistake my wife did. I stood outside while she used the restroom. As she left, a hostess loudly informed her on the street that something needed to be purchased before using the restroom, which I promptly did. I hope they have a "no public restroom" sign that we missed; otherwise, bad form. read more

Best kept secret in Surf City! We have been eating at Lighthouse since they opened and have never been disappointed. Michael and his staff couldn't be friendlier and the food is consistently as good, if not better, than some of the other local establishments with long wait times. Actually good bagels with all the normal options. Bagels are the right amount of chewy and dense enough but not hard or crumbly. This place is a great find. Prices are a bit steep but generally in line with the area. Only real complaint is lack of cold brew but I'll survive. read more

Stopped by to have dinner at the lighthouse. Food was fantastic. We had tuna, flounder and chicken and variety of apps - and it was all excellent. We showed up about 730 and was not rushed out at all. Price was very reasonable. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. Cheesecake was really good. read more

Great food and great service! They always use fresh ingredients and have a nice mix of dishes that the owner puts a perfect spin on. You can tell the difference from your average run-of-the-mill place just trying to rake in tourist money. Staff is always pleasant and looking for feedback on the dishes. They serve breakfast and lunch and also have indoor and outdoor seating which is always a nice option. Kids love to play baggo and other games. Definitely check this place out. read more

This spot used to be another hot spot restaurant that seemed to be doing well however another victim of Covid and it closed in 2020-2021 timeframe. This new restaurant took over and added a new addition to the quiet strip of Surf City which in fact needed another deli/sandwich spot as well as another Bagel spot. The place is rustic inside and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The menu is a great selection of bagels of all sorts (even Oreo which was cool), sandwiches for breakfast or lunch and a few other selections but that is mainly their focus. The good thing is they are right down the road from another bagel spot that we do like, but cash is king over there and sorry but I no longer carry cash and I refuse to take cash out of a stand alone ATM that charges 3.75 a transaction. Plus in post COVID era, who doesn't offer credit cards as an option? Sorry but Ill stick to a place that takes cards, offers the same if not better service and food and is in the same proximity. Breakfast sandwiches are made to order, tasted delicious and so did the bagels. I will be back here each year and the good news, this is not their only location in Jersey! read more
