Went today to get a bagel for breakfast. Was starving. First time here so I didn't know the rules, I walked in looked at the bagels ( which looked mediocre from the case) I asked for one and immediately the counter woman hit me with the " we're cash only" . She was so rude and I couldn't even take out my credit card all the way without her turning me away. She pointed to the atm which I was only going to use since I was so hungry but when my card went in the ATM, the atm broke. Unbelievable. I heard a couple of people behind me saying how they were cash only and heard a response " such a shame" yeah I agree, such a shame. It's 2025, not everyone carries cash on them. Don't hide your money from the bank. Give open to creating a cc system & hire some nicer counter people. Will not come back. read more

Another bagel place that can't handle toasting. I've never had such a problem until I was in the LBI area. I asked for a multigrain everything bagel heavily toasted with light veggie cream cheese. It was barely even warm when I got it. I actually brought it back up and asked them to remake it. The next one was more toasted in appearance, but still somehow cold and limp. I think their bagels just aren't high quality. The flavor of my husband's cheddar jalapeño bagel was good, but it also wasn't toasted. They put scrambled egg product of some sort on the sandwiches instead of a freshly grilled egg. Plenty of seating and bagel options, but the food quality was definitely not worth the drive off the island. Go to Spray Beach Bagels instead! read more

No, of course not, but they do something that NYC bagels can't, and that is porkroll* egg and cheese on a Jersey bagel. Bonus points if you order this with hashbrowns added (100% worth it). In fact, I have been using that exact combo to fix hangovers down at my folk's place for years now and can attest that it works 60 percent of the time, every time. And yet again my order was wrong! I'm a lifelong resident of Manahawkin and I'm all about supporting local business but enough is enough already. I ordered two egg sandwiches today, there was only one person in front of me placing an order. One sandwich was ordered with no meat (as I'm watching my salt intake due to high blood pressure). I waited no less than 20 minutes for my order to be ready. The girl announced my order and read it off the slip correctly. Once I arrived home and opened my order, I realized it was wrong (again). I had received a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich instead of egg and cheese (whoever did receive my order I hope you enjoyed it and didn't miss your pork roll too much!). Really enjoyed my jalapeño cheddar bagel with lox spread. The bagel had nice big chunks of pepper. The usual ones are more about the heat with little pepper bits dispersed throughout the dough. Here you get more peppery flavor. The lox spread was top-notch, with plenty of salmon pieces in the mix. I don't know if my travels will bring me back this way but if yours do, by all means, give it a go. read more

I've let this place have so many chances but unfortunately they still can't get one order right. This morning, the employees completely messed up my order. Mind you I have an egg and dairy intolerance and let's just say it's not pretty when I eat them. I ordered an everything bagel like one will and to my surprise I was deceived as I was given an egg everything bagel. But wait, the story gets even worse. Not only did the employees get the order wrong, but they acted out of sheer laziness. I open my bagel and I see that there is cheese all over the inside. They must have realized I never ordered cheese and instead of thinking let me remake that because of an allergy they just left the remaining pieces on. Bagels & Beyond is my favorite bagel place hands down. If you are in the manahawkin area this summer you need to stop on by. The only 2 downfalls are it's CASH ONLY (ATM inside) and the line in season is always out the door on weekends. My go to bagel is the Jalapeño Cheddar toasted with jalapeño cream cheese! So spicy and so tasty. French toast bagel is amazing, so is the egg everything. I take that back because I would eat and love any flavor that they make. I've also had a cheesesteak from them one time and let's talk about HUGEEEE. I would recommend this bagel shop to anyone in the LBI / manahawkin area. Very gummy bagels, not the crunchy on the outside, doughy on the inside bagels you would find in upper NJ/NYC area. The cream cheeses are good as are their sandwiches and yes, the lines are out the door in the summer, but probably because this is the only bagel place close to the Colony Lakes/Coves/BHW area. The girls who work there are sometime friendly, sometimes aloof depending on who you get. When putting bagels in the bins from the oven boards, I have actually seen one of the girls drop a bagel, pick it up off the floor and throw it in the bins with the rest of them!!! That's the last time I went there. Since then, I have had better bagels at Hucks (in the next lot) and even from WaWa. read more

So I escape the heat of Hoboken for the weekend and head down to the shore with the GF. You know pretty chill Friday night in my book. Couples glasses of white wine with a generous handful of Reese's cups to cap off the night. I wake up Saturday morning excited for breakfast. The weekend bagel connoisseur that I am, the GF and I take the top of the jeep and head down to Bagels and Beyond. The forward thinking time conscious GF calls in our order in which we go pick up. No big deal. We in and we out. Upon arriving back to our water side abode, I set up shop on the deck to indulge in my 1200 calorie breakfast sandwich. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel. No big deal. The first half goes down quick and efficiently. Not much chewing, just pure ravaging of carbohydrates. So when I get to the second half, the GF is rubbing my neck, cheering me on to finish my sandwich like the savage she is. Then when I think I can't get anymore bad luck at a bagel place (See my previous Yelp review of O'Bagel in Hoboken, NJ), the unthinkable happens. I nearly choke on the most vicious and lengthy lock of hair as I bite on my second half. My GF shrieked with horror and anguish as she says "not again Alex". After calming down and the removal of the locks from my carbs I was able to finish this sandwich. Honestly it was a great entrée to start my day besides the one mishap. The taste of their bacon lingers in your mouth for a while to remind you how great this country is hence my 3 star rating. Will I be back tomorrow morning? Yes.
