I don't often rate a place this low. I don't know if I ever have. Let's just start with. It's a diner, which is simple. The seating is typical. It appears to be reasonably newly remodeled, but the air conditioning was nonexistent. Sweating in my seat was not comfortable. The server seemed to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder. It took a extended period of time for her to return just to place our initial order setting that aside we figured we are good to go 45 minutes later we finally got our two eggs over easy with sides couldn't be much more simple than that 45 minutes. Wait was insane. They were not busy either. So to the most important part of the food we waited 45 mns for. 2 eggs over easy came out over hard. The sausage was sitting on the grill too long clearly potato's just ok. Sour dough toast was pretty good but at this point we are already sour on this location. I have noticed a lot of people complain about the pricing but I didn't see it as too crazy until we ended up sitting in a diner for over an hour. With the above avg prices at least do a good job. The table next to us ordered an eggs Benedict and there were no eggs on it! I thought they were kidding but nope. Table across from us left prob 35mns before us and the table was still not clear. Terrible. Maybe just an unfortunate day and things happen but this had so many levels of bad I will not be giving it another shot sorry. read more

Decor reminds me of spots we hit up in Key West, Fla., very tropical and bright. The menu is vast and caters to all palates. The Kosher breakfast was delicious and the Not So Kosher breakfast was also delicious. Nonna's Cure was a new item which was a must have and I will be ordering when I return. Good place to hit before hanging at LBI. read more

We love stopping by the diner when we are in Manahawkin! It was our final morning in town so we decided to have our last meal here. The menu is very extensive, definitely hard to pick an entree sometimes! I ended up going with the Latkes Benedict and my mom ordered blueberry pancakes. We will be back! read more

Loved our visit to 39° North Diner! Fresh, abundant food, the crab cake avocado toast and Greek salad with salmon were both excellent. Alyssa was an amazing server, the remodel looks fantastic, clean bathrooms and easy parking. A great experience all around. read more

Awesome old school diner vibes with a modern twist. This was the perfect place to grab some breakfast without having to go to the island on a Saturday morning. I loved the decor. Very eclectic and although updated, still felt old school in the best way. The place was also very clean - you can tell they take a lot of pride in their restaurant. There were plenty of options on the menu to choose from. It was honestly hard to decide since everything sounded so good. I settled on the UWS toast which was covered with fresh guac, veggies, and the most perfect soft boiled eggs. It was light and delicious. It was also a cute touch how the iced coffee was served in mason jars. I will definitely be back! read more

We had two fish and chips, a burger and fries, and a Belgium waffle with eggs for dinner. They don't give you a breakfast menu for dinner but like all great diners, you can ask and order anything from the breakfast menu for dinner and of course it was delicious. The fish and chips were excellent! Very crispy with juicy tender white fish, perfectly battered and cooked. Not too salty, which some places get wrong. Generous portions. Seasoned waffle fries with the fish. My son is a super picky eater and he got a bacon cheeseburger, well done. He slammed it down. He's been known to take one bite and leave the rest. The burger was juicy and tasted like it was charbroiled and the bun nicely toasted. Fries also seasoned well and not greasy. Ambiance is cloth napkins and silverware. The service was excellent. This is why NJ diners are the BEST! read more

Great food, little to no hospitality. Our server didn't check on us at all. She took our order and dropped the bill.... That was it... I won't be coming back. The woman that sat us didn't even say hello. She looked at me and said how many? Definitely not how I would greet someone. Not friendly here at all. read more

We've been here quite a bit. For lunch and occasionally dinner. Everything we've ordered has been very good. Of course some better than others but overall very good. The place is clean with a cool vibe and our service has always been quick and attentive. read more

I recently ordered to go food from 39 degrees and what I received was sad. The avocado toast which was $20 had two slices of avocado on. It looked like it was picked over. I have been waiting on the manager to return my call for 4 days and have yet to hear back from the manager Diego. The most recent time I called, the front desk told me "I won't be hearing back from the manager" and then hung up on me. This leads me to believe that the manager is now avoiding my calls refusing to rectify the situation. I've never experienced such poor customer service and professionalism. How they are choosing to handle the situation and myself is disappointing and disturbing. read more

This brunch/dinner restaurant was updated from a diner that had been in town for many years. Everything has been changed from the decor, adding an outside dining area, to the menu. The items on the menu are a refreshing change and it's now BYOB. I've been here a few times since it's been redone and each visit gets better. The service is great, the staff is attentive and the food is served quickly. I will definitely return. read more

I had the boneless chicken breast picata. It was totally dry and appears frozen when cooked. The flavor didn't even taste like picata. Lots of pepper is all I could taste. My wife had the meatloaf was also dried out. Would not recommend this place as our dishes were not fresh. read more

Just went to have a nice Fathers Day breakfast. Have been to 39 a few times and food is always fantastic. Unfortunately we had a server that either had a bad night before or had too many tables or isn't paid enough but I literally had to get up to ask her for water after sitting for more than 7 minutes. Doesn't sound like a long time but being ignored is not a good thing. Food came and kudos to the chefs-again, fantastic food but server shouldn't be working on busy days. Will go again but will not sit at her table. read more

We recently had dinner here and were glad to be seated about an hour before closing. The food was excellent. I ordered the chicken pot pie which is on the list of specials. It had just the right ratio of crust to filling. Service was very good. Our server was attentive throughout dinner and was quick with drinks and appetizers. He also was sure to check in on our needs before the kitchen closed and things were cleaned. It's a newly renovated place and it nice to see the old character of the diner. I just wish the lighting was a bit better. I think many would like the mood lighting at night but its just not to my taste. Pricing was reasonable for the amount of food and quality of the meal. read more

UNDERRATED. Best chicken sandwich in miles. I dare you to find better... This is my favorite place, and it is criminally underrated. This is the only place I come to it nowadays. The menu is astounding, with truly craft meals, and an EXCEPTIONALLY talented cooking staff. They have a wide versatility for all your diner classics, but also some truly exciting and inspired originals. It takes a lot of skill for the cooks in the back to retain such a broad capability for so many novel meals. The Murder She Wrote chicken sandwich is astounding, with the smokiest, sweetest heat. The chicken itself is well marinated for what tastes like hours, uncommon for a normal diner joint. Don't get me started on the batter, too, which is fried to a golden-brown perfection, served atop sweat and pillowy brioche buns. Also, the place is BYOB with a very trendy interior and lively environment. Finally we get a real craft lunch/dinner spot, and I feel nobody knows about it. You must come here! read more

This restaurant is a complete transformation from the original owner. Haven't been here in many years, nice to see new tables & chairs, lighting, walls, floors, clean restroom.... Complete transformation! Food is excellent, great variety and done perfectly. Good portion size, I enjoyed the chicken pot pie with a side of stuffed pepper soup.... So good! My girlfriend had a pastrami Rubin sandwich that took up the entire plate, loved it. Pricing is a little high but worth it once you dig in! Coffee is ground in house , each time a new pot is brewed. I'd come back just to get a cup of coffee. Staff is knowledgeable, attentive and courteous, that's a plus in today's age. Overall I'd say this restaurant is worthy of a five star.... Really enjoyed the visit. read more

Great selection. Service very attentive. Diner recently redone and is bright. Best diner in area!

The food is of good quality, the venue is clean and aesthetically pleasing. The service was good. I wish they offered daily specials or coffee with meals; it's suitable for an occasional visit, but overpriced for frequent visits. read more

Once again eggcelent food and service, im a classicly trained chef and when I give a 5 star review you know it has to be fantastic the egg Benedict Brooklyn is to die for the omelets outstanding they brought me pickles and coleslaw for some reason the pickles are made on house I would have used more sugar in the brine maybe a lil bit more water also the coleslaw was outstanding... the FRESHLY SQUEEZED ORANGE juice cant get any fresher . Its a lil more pricey then your average diner but its worth every penny! read more

Great service very clean restaurant Love their menu Never had a bad meal everything is delicious The desserts are excellent one of my favorite places to enjoy a delicious dinner never a disappointment read more

Most of the food is delicious for a diner but, the pricing is way off. They charge what a high end restaurant would charge and the portions are small. I was blown away when I ordered my son's $13 pancake kid meal and it was 5 of the tiniest silver dollar pancakes I had ever seen. They have no business charging that much In Manahawkin. Even an egg sandwich is that much money. The mark up must be 150%. read more

We have been here a few times and also have ordered take out. I ordered the LBI wanted to try something unique. It was delicious! Service was great, nice light music playing in the background. read more

New and improved local diner is definitely a must try! I was excited to try the recently added outdoor seating area for breakfast with the family. We entered the diner to be seated by the hostess and were very impressed with the updated retro welcoming feel of it. The decor reminded me of a popular trending restaurant in Nashville. We asked to be seated outside and we were accommodated right away. We enjoyed sitting under the large umbrella and near the beautiful planters filled with Lillies and vinca vines. The menu is NOT overwhelming and very impressive. Some items I can't wait to try next time. We absolutely loved all of our meals and they were portioned perfectly and plated just right. I would definitely recommend the Skillet for breakfast and if you're in the mood for a sweet meal, try the red velvet cheese pancake. This was filled with the most delicious cheesecake. Definitely try! The service was efficient and friendly! Can't wait to try dinner next time. read more

BREAKFAST REVIEW This is by far the best breakfast in town, especially coming from a diner style . Our food was seasoned appropriately. The food quality was excellent..l Was presently surprised by the quality of food. they redid the place very nice the whole inside and outside. Our server Rebecca was outstanding. I for sure will be back and I haven't been at this restaurant in many many many years. I had eggs Benedict. My wife had the avocado toast. My kids had pancakes eggs, and sausage. read more

Food was good, quick and plentiful however the wait staff was a little odd. The young lady that waited on us did nothing outstanding and in-fact was a little lacks in giving us attention once the meal was served. The weather that day was rainy and windy and there were very few patrons inside the diner. The waitress came over to the table and began taking our order when suddenly she hollered over to another staff member to "turn on the fan" . Was it hot? Not really. Did we smell? Maybe we are old. Very odd to say the least and from that point on it seemed like the waitress couldn't get away fast enough and stay away so maybe we smelled? The prices were a bit pricey for breakfast especially the coffee. I know coffee has increased in price but $4.99 for a 8oz cup? Even with refills that is outrageous and borderline thievery. Overall, I would not return nothing outstanding about the place and the particular staff member we dealt with seemed like she'd like to be somewhere else or was blatantly rude with the fan comment. Nope lots of options out there with coffee under $5 too. read more

Had a tuna melt $12.95 was asked if I wanted to add fries (*didn't come with) and I agreed. One cup of tea and bill was $21 without tip? Food was average and atmosphere OK. I believe there is more cost effective establishments in town that offer more for the money. read more

It was just okay for years. Now with it's new parking lot, deck and name has become a place to avoid. Terribly disappointed. I think they think they are a Disco or something. I have been a resident of Manahawkin for many years. The last three visits to 39° North has been the pits. The only thing this place has going for it is a parking lot. I will never take anyone here again. Ambience, service, and food were terrible. Three strikes and you're out. read more

Service- the waitress and hostess very nice Food- a bit pricey, a bit skimpy; we left alittle hungry Anesthetics - inside, rough. A very cheap makeover from the outdated not great Diner it use to be. Tables and chairs are outdated and beat up. The bathrooms are absolutely not pleasant. Outside - looks nice, had a face-lift. Really nice modern Outside patio. The Outside appearance tricked us into giving this new place a chance. It's just the old place with a new floor and coat of paint. Lastly - health concern, most of our plates had chips and or broken corners - thats a recipe for bacteria read more

I've been here multiple times over the past year for breakfast, lunch, and dinner so I feel I can finally make a solid review. This place has a fantastically large menu and executes consistently and fairly well on a wide range of dishes. Breakfast options are a good mix of sweet and savory, lunch options please a wide array of guests, and for dinner the place seemingly transforms from a diner feel into an upscale restaurant. They use really nice glasses and dinnerware here so everything feels expensive. The food is fairly expensive but the portions and quality are good. Things come out fast as well. Apparently they also don't use seed oils which is cool. Service is consistently fair but nothing amazing. The most recent visit we had a large group and I could see that they were hurrying us along so that they could turn our table over to a waiting party. We had just barely finished eating and I could already feel the pressure from our server and other waitresses to hurry up and leave. Like, in the middle of eating and being asked if I wanted a box. As if they didn't have multiple other tables to push together for the waiting party.. read more
