HUEVOS RANCHEROS

Stopped here after a long trip to the DMV. I got the Huevos Racheros with rice & beans on the side. A very hearty and tasty breakfast. Top notch. Decent price. Server was very nice and prompt and friendly.

2025 review still a great Mexican restaurant. food is very authentic. I had a ribeye steak. It was accompanied by great sides, delicious beans and rice and topped with cheese and chorizo. My other guests had a chimichanga and tacos all super delicious.

SIDE DE TORTILLAS. They looked homemade and so soft and fluffy! Simply beautiful.

I have to go to Manahawkin weekly for an appointment and the restaurant I usually go to is closed on Mondays. So, I searched Yelp for vegan friendly food. I found La Cabanita. I read the reviews on here and they were great! So, I went around 4:30 pm and there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. That was a good sign to see it busy at a time that isn't really lunch or dinner. The outside is cute and neat looking, so that was good to see as well. I came in and was greeted by a waitress at the front station. I told her I was vegan and gluten free and she was speaking to the other women about options. She showed me they can substitute corn tortilla for anything and they also can make a veggie version of the meat dishes (if it isn't already offered). I asked many questions and asked her what some items were on the menu. She was very helpful and patient. I would watch each dish go by and each one looked amazing! I was getting take out but I have to visit for sit down one day! I finally decided what to get my mom and I and the food was ready quickly. My mom got a chicken dish that she loved. It was grilled chicken with peppers and cactus. I got the Huarache Vegetariano which was so tasty! And it was nice looking as well! Very good food, even the free chips! Definitely would recommend.

Beef empanadas. Different and ultimate !

Food..Service...Ambiance. Check marks all that. All flavorful and a truckload of it. Beef Empanadas were so light. How did they manage to do that ? I get so excited when my entree is big enough to fit on a Thanksgiving Turkey size platter. Mexican food in the 08050 destroys all.

This place is worth the hype. A little off the beaten path from Long Beach but honestly it's so worth it. And depending on where in the beach you are it really isn't that bad of a drive. I honestly wish they were located in my neck of the woods because it was TOUGH to choose what to eat. It didn't help that they had a couple of tvs scrolling through real, in-house photos of their menu. What we got: Chorizo Sopes - 4.5* yuuuuum. I'm knocking it half a start because the menu said it came with its own spicy sauce but I didn't taste a thing in that department. Other than that it was fantastic. Filling and surprisingly packed I'd recommend the sopes to anyone who asks. Cabanita Latina (the special platter featured on the front of the menu) - 5* this apparently isn't featured in the menu other than as a photo in the front of the book. We saw another table order it and asked our waiter for the details. All of the meat (I think there were 5 different kinds) were well presented and I liked all but one. The shrimp was my favourite. The guacamole and rice were both super good. The black beans tasty but not something I'd rave about. The cheese and salsa pretty standard. And the tortillas must be home made. If you don't know what you want and have someone willing to share, this is a great choice. My partner shared this with a friend and let me have a small sample of everything to write my review.

We heard of this restaurant from our family formed who was raving about how good the food was and we had to try it. We went here yesterday for the first time and were not disappointed! We went in around 1:30pm for lunch and were able to be seated right away. There are about 15 tables inside and 4 or so bar seats. They start you off with complementary chips and salsa. Their salsa was very unique and flavorful. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were amazing! The mango was so fresh and the shrimp was cooked to perfection! The prices are also super cheap! 4 shrimp tacos were $14! The food was amazing and I can't wait to go back to try more dishes!

This was a little authentic gem. Many of the meals that passed before my eyes, spoke to my taste buds. My dish, wasn't as explosive, but it was good. My guest had bistec... it was alittle salty. We are going to try the paella dishes or a seafood treat next time. The fried cheesecake was a nice treat. I had the garlic shrimp, was a bit of a skimp. Not as garlicky as I've hoped. But it was decent. Will I reorder that? No. The empanadas are made with a flour tortilla, okay.... but too much doe for the amount of meat. I will go back, the place draws a crowd. I have to taste why.

The enchiladas tricolor and black beans soup on the palate today. The enchiladas had a flavor of is own. Ole! Oh lala! Oh where are the shrimp?…read more It was an interesting contrast of experiences as we decided to go TGIF Mexican! We had been here before but that was long before the missing year became a reality for everyone. However we knew that this was one of those Mexican eating establishments that promise good food. We were the early birds but we were welcomed with warmth by the restaurant staff to the empty restaurant where one table was already set up for a large party. It was noticeable that the menu was either condensed or presented in a more clear fashion than in years past. This is not one of those Mexican restaurants with an overwhelming number of options for you to eat. But the standards were there plus a few interesting options and it did not take long to make our choices. The prerequisite bowl of chips was delivered to the table and these were clearly homemade. I always prefer homemade but even though these were down towards the bottom in the top of the top 10 list they were still pretty good. The red salsa that was delivered to the table with the chips was on the sweeter side and there was no spice kick. I imagine we could have asked for the heat but that would have only been for me. If I didn't mention it before the service was friendly and they kept their eye on us even as the restaurant started to fill up. It was disappointing to not see any of the staff wearing a mask especially since Covid numbers are going up but the hospitality was clear, they cared about us. We skipped appetizers although I have to admit I looked at the sopa options a couple of times before saying nah. The chalkboard had some interesting beverage options but give me water with a lemon stuck in it anytime of day and night. Of course BYOB's an option but we didn't think about that in advance. My choice was on the back page of the menu under their specialties. It was Pechuga Tejana, which Is chicken breast and shri mp for those who enjoy medium spicy dishes. The other choices of the night were tricolored enchilada cheese and a chicken burrito in white sauce. First the waitress was thrilled when the burrito was ordered with white sauce telling us that was her favorite sauce of the many sauce options this restaurant offers. The bulging burrito truly had a yummy sauce but that's not what I ordered. The really neat thing about the tri-colored enchilada in addition to each enchilada being doused in its own unique sauce was that you received a cheese enchilada, a chicken enchilada, and a beef enchilada. The sauces were designed to match the colors of the Mexican flag obviously. The diner who made this choice could not have been happier and continue to talk about the enchiladas on the drive away from the restaurant. I like things spicy but I decided to accept the medium spicy advertisement of the menu for my meal. The sauce was absolutely delicious but as I looked at my plate and I reflected on the fact that it was advertised as chicken breast and shrimp I began to wonder where the shrimp that had fallen off were because there were only three shrimp on my plate. The chicken breasts were pounded thin and it was really tasty but even though the three shrimp were jumbo shrimp I felt short changed on my shrimp. But that's a small complaint when you put the sauce memory into action because I can still taste how good it was. Speaking of being short-changed ... If you like refried beans you're not going to get many on your plate here. Each meal came with a scoop of rice and as they say in my favorite bagel shop a schmeer of refried beans. We did not go home hungry but I would have liked a little more beans to soak up some of that delicious sauce on my plate. So Ole ... oh la la .. And since this is near the ocean I'll go looking for the missing shrimp. Great service and delicious food you can't go wrong.

The woman who owns it is the cook and is a very nice lady. I wanted enchiladas which wasn't on the menu, but she said "I'll make them for you anyway." Also the portion sizes are extremely big here probably almost triple of other restaurants, so you get a lot for your dollar, which is awesome in today's economy. It came deconstructed, basically a plain quesadilla (meat and cheese), I got it with cheddar and Jack cheese, and the lettuce, tomato and a bit of cheese on the side. It came with sour cream and guacamole on the side as well. It was tasty, for sure, but it was also a whole tortilla, not cut. The meat was also super greasy. I also got a carne asada burrito. That too had lettuce and tomato on the side, how I would put that in, I'm not sure. It was just meat, cheese and rice. The sour cream came in handy as it was a bit dry. The flavor was there, but the meat was fatty and had gristle. Not great in a burrito. Overall, it was tasty, but average. Hoping if we get it again it'll be better.
