While on vacation down at LBI this year we wanted to try someplace new and we heard GREAT things about La Bamba. Let me tell you...the hype was real and on point! We got there kind of early because we didn't want to wait and we wanted to watch the sunset. When we got there there was only one table being used so our party of five grabbed a table and passed around the beers we brought. We ordered a mix of entrees plus the triple dip and chips. We ordered a lobster quesadilla, two chicken burritos, a combo fajitas and the camarones Al ajillo (shrimp in a garlic sauce). The food was all pretty tasty and came out in a timely manner. My only negative was with my fajitas - PLENTY of beef and chicken, but vey little veggies and the ones I got were underdone. Otherwise everyone's food was great. Just remember, this is LBI so you're paying LBI prices. Also, they only serve bottled water at $2 per bottle. Our waitress was super friendly and the place seemed like it could be a lot of fun.

The food here is DELICIOUS and authentically cooked by Rosa. Wonderful ambience too, colorful and vibrant. Burritos are huge and specials are excellent (especially lobster quesadilla, more like a grilled taco--rich, garlicky, tons of meat). Best fish tacos on the island. Also recommend the chicken tortilla soup and Mexican street corn side. The tres leches cake was a giant slice and pretty good (more cakey than milky). The fajitas smell great and usually set off the fire alarm! Mexican coke in a glass bottle along with other authentic Mexican drinks to try. You won't be disappointed here.

You know it's legit when the locals eat here. Service was perfect, place was spotless and the food was delicious!

The food is some of the best on the island. AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine. This is a hidden gem on the island.

Delicious food, with generous portions, super reasonable prices, even seafood. BYOB if you're so inclined.

Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? It's all yours anytime of the day. We opted for breakfast (although they…read moreare known for their wings). The young man who was our server was very friendly and helpful. The decor was seaside diner. Ordered at our table...a large western style omelette, fluffy and full of the extras, a French Toast egg sandwich (clean plate club), a plate with a pancake, over easy eggs, home fries and toast, all cooked perfectly. I had the triple decker grilled cheese with bacon and tomato (I think it was called the Happy Waitress), so good, bacon perfect. Recommended!

Stopped in at Chicken & Egg while in LBI with some friends. I ordered the Redneck Benedict, which…read moresounded like a fun twist on a classic, but it ended up being just okay. The flavors were a little bland and the chicken was cut too thick, which made it less enjoyable to eat. The home fries that came with it were also disappointing -- they seemed reheated rather than freshly made, and just didn't have that crisp, flavorful kick you hope for at a breakfast spot. My friends had different dishes, but their reactions were similar -- nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either. We all left feeling like the food was a little underwhelming overall. The bathroom was serviceable but not especially clean, and while the service was fine, it wasn't anything that stood out as particularly attentive or warm. On the positive side, the decor was pleasant and gave the place a nice atmosphere. Honestly, that was probably the highlight of the experience for me. If Yelp allowed half-star ratings, I'd give it a 3.5 just for the vibe. All in all, Chicken & Egg isn't a bad place, but it didn't really impress. With so many options around, it's not somewhere I'd rush back to, but I wouldn't call it a total miss either -- more middle of the road.
