Stopped in while traveling north up Route 9 today. What a find! This is the real deal. The atmosphere was cheery but simple, but the food! Homemade corn tortillas with carnitas and 'tres puercos', a mix of sausage, pork belly and marinated pork. Incredible. Crunchy, juicy and like nothing I have ever tasted before. This place is super cute and conveniently tucked away in a strip mall. ..Now, let's talk about the food - it was amazing. The tortilla chips they served were a hit, warm and in just the right-sized portions (which is great for me because I tend to devour tortilla chips, and it's a struggle to stop! ). The ambiance here is pretty unique. It's not too big, kinda like a larger Chinese food joint, but it's cozier, homier, and definitely cleaner. You could swing by for dinner, lunch, or even breakfast. My partner and I dropped in for dinner after hitting the beach, and it was fantastic. We decided to go for the quesadillas (after all, it's right there in the restaurant name!). We made the right choice - I had the Al Pastor (sweet and salty, a combo that's oh-so-good!), and my girlfriend went for the trio, which she absolutely loved. Service was top-notch too. Our waitress was a multitasking champ, tending to four tables and handling mobile orders with grace. She was super attentive and friendly. When our dishes arrived, they smelled amazing, were piping hot, and looked really presentable. I just love spots like this that bring that unique Mexican and Latin American culture and sazón (flavor) to the table. So glad we stopped here before parking our motor home at Cedar Creek. We were greeted by Leo. Today Leo was the shining star who served us the delicious Mexican food we have been dreaming of since we left California a month ago. Tammy the tornado got the Bistec Tacos and I got the pollo quesadillas. Both were as good as I've ever had. Everything was super fresh. Everything made in house "that day". If we didn't live 3000 miles away we would be here at least once a week. Thank you Leo for treating us like royalty! On a side note I'd like to leave a love letter hidden here in my review. Had the birria tacos and they were delicious. A little overpriced overall, but would go back. Food and place was authentic.

Four of us stopped in for lunch from the Barnegat Bicycle Path nearby. We had seen the stellar reviews on-line, but we weren't prepared for how good the food truly was. Two of us have visited Mexico and were immediately transported back as we feasted on chicken with chocolate mole sauce garnished with white Mexican cheese, pollo con mole quesadilla and tamales. Hands down the best authentic Mexican food in the area. Here are my tried and true favorites: 1. Chips and guac (and sauces)- So good. Everything tasted so fresh and homemade. 2. Mole tamales- I don't even like mole! But oh my gosh these were fantastic. Probably one of the best tamales I've ever had. Perfectly sweet and the right ratio of mole to corn. 3. Al Pastor tacos- I get them with onion, cilantro, and pineapple. Corn tortillas are homemade and soooo good. 4. Homemade vanilla churros- perfectly sweet and cinnamon-y. I'm pretty sure most items are homemade in-house, which I love. Service has mostly been solid with the exception of one day where we were there for a while. read more

I would give 5 stars but their prices are very high for the portions you get. One of my tacos was disproportionate to the others, they don't give you a second soft taco for what falls out, the sauce is optional but with those prices they should be mandatory! I've gotten this dish all over the tri-townships and it was a well tasting taco that I enjoyed but for 3 tiny tacos(standard size) and a drink $19 is absolutely overkill even with inflation I feel like I was just ripped off. read more

Placed an order and was told it would be 20 minutes, showed up after 30 and was told that I didn't order. After going back and forth with the one woman working, she found my order and said that I just ordered and it would be over 30 minutes for my food. I've ordered tortas (basically sandwiches), quesadillas, and tacos, all of which were delicious (be aware that tacos traditionally don't have cheese, just ingredients like onions and cilantro). When they opened up, it was a slight wait, but definitely worth it. If you don't have a good idea of the ingredients, ask the staff. It's not Taco Bell; it's real Mexican. They have a menu in English and Spanish, and they seem to plan to add more. This is another small restaurant that just started, but it deserves the support. read more
