Only went there once. Food was good not great but took forever to get. It was very clean and the waitstaff was very nice. But when you have to wait 45 minutes to get breakfast and your grandkids get impatient it makes for a ding in service. And the place was virtually empty. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had in my life! Perfectly cooked bacon. Friend loved her omelet as well. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, never felt rushed. Every other Sunday it's become a tradition to grab breakfast here and everything is a win. 2 page menu. Breakfast and lunch. Most items are under $12 with a lot of variety under $10. A fancy diner is actually a restaurant and this is a real diner. Authentic and only open til 3. Best time to come on a weekend is that 11:30- 2pm sweet spot however the wait time has never been bad. Monte Cristo is outstanding because their French toast is NJ diner approved. Egg salad and Reuben are on point too. Delicious pancakes and the kids menu covers all the fan favorites. Decided to try this tiny outdated diner located in a strip mall after a morning of crabbing on the Barnegat Bay. It seemed ok when we walked in, seeing the older local folks enjoying their meals. We were seated at a booth and there was no way my 6'5" partner was going to be comfortable. They are so tight it would have been impossible to enjoy a meal so I requested a table. Much better. P. S. There was a larger woman whose breasts were actually resting on the table! Anyway, moving on. The hostess was a bit cranky but our server was good. The coffee. Ugh. What can I say. I couldn't even drink it and I love coffee. It was so weak and it tasted dirty like their machines were never thoroughly cleaned. Disappointing. We both got fried eggs over easy and they came out in a puddle of grease. The sausage and home fries were dry like they were sitting around for hours. The toast was good and there was real butter available for extra buttering. The one thing that really turned me off is the sign on the door. They charge a 3.9% fee if using a credit or DEBIT card!! Well that wasn't happening so we were forced to pay with cash and I couldn't treat for breakfast as promised as I had no cash on me. Pretty ridiculous. Bottom line. Would I return? No. I'll go to McDonald's or the Stafford Diner for a better meal. read more

It's an average diner. my mother had French toast and said it was good. I had eggs (asked for over hard and didn't get that), home fries (very good) bacon & toast. My son got pancakes in shape of Mickey Mouse which was cute. Prices are great. Service isn't so bad. Food isn't over the top amazing but you def get a good standard meal here. read more

I love this place for breakfast. Their breakfast specials include juice and coffee and are very reasonably priced, especially considering the recent inflation for food items. Their food and coffee is always very good. I especially like their breakfast sausage, it's the best out of all the local restaurants I've tried. I can't comment on lunch at this location because I haven't tried it. On the downside, since Covid they are only open each day at 8 AM for breakfast. But for me it's worth the wait. read more

The waitstaff did a great job and the food came out pretty quickly. Both times I had pancakes, eggs and pork roll. The pancakes were great, not over done, they were nice and filling. The eggs were eggs, scrambled, went well with everything, just good. The pork roll was really tasty. Thicker cut, but not ridiculously so, cooked well. Quaint local diner serving Barnegat locals. Non-Locals Beware! Our group was chastised for asking for non-dairy products for coffee. In addition to responding that none were available, the server noted that they don't have turkey bacon either. K. We didn't ask for turkey bacon. And there's a pretty common thing going on with non-dairy products for coffee. We were also chastised with an audible exasperated sigh when our kid was organizing the creamer and jelly packets. No mess, just organizing and playing with them as kids do, and with all intentions to put them back in the bowl. Well, that ended early because we were told by Rita Wilson Hanks (doppelgänger) that they have to go back in the bowl. Captain Obvious to the rescue! Scrapple on the menu - a meat loaf type side that's composed of "scraps" from the grill. It was good with ketchup, although the family razzed me about eating "scraps" from other peoples' meals. Not sure that's what scrapple is, but who knows! She's having a bad day, but by her interactions with the octogenarians we think it was more about being insecure with her customers. Maybe the only time I ever ate breakfast at a diner and was NEVER asked if I wanted more coffee. I asked for my Spinach Feta omelet to be soft, it was very well done, no I did not send it back. Stopped in on our way home from down the shore and my expectations weren't high to begin with but I really wasn't expecting what I got. Bacon was cooked to a complete crisp, eggs were really greasy and the home fries looked not so good but I tried them anyway and I did not appreciate the taste. Most of the time the staff was too busy talking among themselves or on their phones. The waitress almost seemed like we were a bother for stopping in. My wife loves NJ diners for some reason, so we stopped in when we first moved to this area....and will probably not be back again. This is a diner so your expectation on food quality are already pretty low, but they managed to go beyond that. I had some very unsavory eggs with some terrible tasting coffee. Our waitress was wonderful however the food was not. Ordered a gyro. The Tzatziki Sauce was basically sour cream with zero garlic, dill flavor. The tomatoes as well were flavorless. Fries were under cooked and greasy. Husbands California Burger was OK but fries the same. As we went to counter to pay the head waitress (i think) was chatting with a coworker and using profanity. My mother and I stopped here on a whim today. We were a little worried because of previous reviews, but we wanted breakfast food, so we decided to try it anyway. We both thought it was great. I had an omelet with home fries and she had French toast with bacon. Both our meals were really tasty, cooked perfectly, and although it was clear the wait staff was short-handed, our server was very attentive. If I could give no stars I would: The food is ok, but my low rating is due to the staff. If you are not a "regular" then you seem to be a bother. Our waitress was too busy socializing to care about us. No refills, and only came to check on us bc she was talking to (and sitting with) people at the next table. When we wanted our check after 15 minutes of waiting I finally had to ask someone else to get it. Went here with my boyfriend. We are from outside of the state and was the third place we tried to go to this morning for breakfast. Every other place was about an hour wait. The wait was only a few minutes and the place was full. Was a quick turn around. The staff were beyond kind and the food was amazing. Not a complaint from us at all and we pretty much tried everything off of the breakfast menu. I've had it where the servers are on point, attentive and timely and slow, chatty and distracted. The food is typical diner food. Burgers, breakfast, disco fries. Last time I got a burger I asked for medium rare and got medium well, despite that the burger was surprisingly juicy. I didn't say anything so I don't know if they would have redone it or not. Their fries are good. I'll eat them and I'm picky about my fries. The rubens are decent to. Big, but still a typical diner ruben. Over all not a bad place to get something quick if your in the area, but don't go out of your way. read more

Food was good wish they had more options for people who cant eat beef or pork , perhaps some turkey bacon and/or sausage. I walked in around 10:30am not busy at all server took her time as she had some well known people to her on the next booth next to me when she approched me to take my order it was very awkard and non welcoming i asked for water since i had just sat down and havent had a chance to go through the menu, once i did and placed my order she never refilled my water and never checked up on me to see how the food came out mean while she was in the bar area talking to those guest that she knew. I also look young so perhaps she thought i wasnt going to tip her properly and decided to give me the lowest service when it came to pay she didnt ask if i would like anything else she just place the bill on the table and left, waiting for 20 mins for her to pick up my bill as is clearly visable in the courner of the table.... worst service ever... and i work as a server as well so i know about guest satisfaction and non discriminatory service.
