No doubt the 1950's and 60's we're the heyday of American diner culture. That is why so many that survived to present day decorate the premises with the icons and visuals of that time. It can be a bit too cutecie with Elvis, James Dean and Marilyn on every wall, but it does appeal to those alive at the time. For those of us who don't remember (or no longer can) it is an historic marker, otherwise harmless, worth acknowledging. JB's Cousin's Diner on RT. 70, Tom's River, NJ, is representative of this corner of restaurant world. It not only has a full sized statue of Ms. Monroe from the sidewalk subway grate scene in Seven Year Itch, standing on the counter, but it also has paisley formica covering the L-shaped lunch counter top to bottom. The entire dining room feels like a time capsule. I liked it in a dusty old comic book sort of way. And, they know about breakfast. My Farmer's Omelet was a full three egger, loaded with pepper, onion, Italian sweet, potato and feta. The side of home fries nicely crisped. The Bunn drip coffee, hot, kicky and free flowing. Old fashioned rye toast richly buttered. Service friendly and engaging with smile and chatter. Totally enjoyed it, and would have been moved to 5 stars if it offered credit card payment, rather than cash only. Customer convenience has to account for something.

Everything is delicious from breakfast to burgers to hot meals. The atmosphere is warm, not just the staff but the other customers... all very welcoming. They even offer fresh baked cookies and pastries that are always a surprise and out of this world. So thankful they stayed open for take out during this challenging time.

An amazing array of breakfast possibilities including personalised omelettes and even grits are available! The quiche is the best one I've had since France. Lunch and dinner are excellent too - sandwiches and seafood are fresh and the right portions are always served. The diner is meticulously clean and beautifully decorated right down to artistic and hand crafted menus. And the price is fair for what you get. Also you can take one of their delicious desserts home with you if you are too full to eat it there. Definitely one of the best eateries in the area. I would highly recommend the Corner Post!

I don't normally leave reviews, but my recent experience was bad enough that I feel compelled to…read moreshare it. This was the second-worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The chicken noodle soup tasted foul--almost as though the soup pot hadn't been properly cleaned between uses. My mother ordered a fruit cup with her meal, but the first thing they brought her was French fries. When they corrected the mistake, they brought out watermelon, pineapple, and banana slices. While the fruit itself would have been fine, the banana was already beginning to brown, which made it look particularly unappetizing. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. The French toast was limp and undercooked, and the French fries were hot on the outside but cold in the middle. The experience was bad enough that we noticed another customer at a table across and diagonally from us take one bite of his burger, put it down, get up, and leave without eating any more. By the time we left, we hadn't been able to eat much of anything. We ended up stopping at McDonald's on the way home because we were still hungry and needed something we could actually eat. I understand that mistakes happen in restaurants, but this was far beyond a single mistake or an off dish. Nearly everything we ordered had a problem, and the overall quality was extremely disappointing. Based on this experience, I would not return.

I feel awful i really hate giving a bad review…read more But i went there and i was served Luke warm coffee. The place was half empty and im sorry with my past history with hard rock buffet with coli and being half dead and two stomachs surgeries i wont take a chance. After drinking the coffee and it was at best luke warm i was very concerned if you cant even serve me a hot cup of coffee i cant trust you to serve me food at the right temp. So i looked at all the reviews and i was like let get out of here i told my wife lets go im not taking a chance Im a retired chef i worked in many kitchens i know what to look for and im sorry i wont ever come back I worked one place where i got food poisoning. Twice because the manager was an idiot and they have a union protecting idiots And in the same place i swiped the huge pot of soup on to the floor because the cook was a moron who used a sea food based sauce on a vegetarian soup he could of killed patients at the hospital Im done with idiot Serving food and drinks at the proper Temperature Is a must if you cant serve coffee hot how on earth can i trust you to serve me food Then i read all the negative reviews sorry time to go. Good luck serving people that dont know better And dont come out with excuses or oh sorry with an excuse Run the place the correct way or sell it

We swung by on a whim, enchanted by the sparking, beckoning appearance of the building. I was sad and confused to see some low Yelp scores after our visit today. We both had excellent omelets, and even more amazing service from our server (Kali, Kaily - not sure how to spell). She immediately adapted to his strange speech due to his disease, was on point, and warming. The strong coffee was delicious! I found the women's restroom to be spotless, as was the rest of the establishment. Even the shiny ceiling decor was dazzling & clean. (When you look up in most places - it's not!) The dessert counter looked amazing - but we were too full to indulge. We will be back, just for that! They have a Cannoli cheesecake that looks amazing and worth returning for. I recommend giving this diner a go, especially in the off-season like we did. It's probably hard to keep with the summer tourists. I hope to see them succeed through the summer as they did in December.

I had a cappuccino and it was tasty. My beaux had one of the brunch specials and I thought it was tasty but he wished the braised meat was more fatty, but I personally thought it was perfect. :). The diner was festive, busy, and pretty noisy which we thought would have been a good spot to mask our noisy group. . I miss the Brownstone when they had one in Jersey City so it was a nice chance to check out this other location of theirs.
