Decided to be adventurous today. Hopped on my bicycle and took a ride to island heights NJ. Upon coming to the cafe I wasn't gonna stop but I said "hey, you only live once". So I went in and sat down. Ordered Danielle's Chicken Deluxe with Grilled chicken,Red onions,fresh spinach and Melted swiss. Accompanied with Sweet potato fries and a Coke. With the sandwich you get a pickle and Cole slaw. The Cole slaw is not your typical Cole slaw so I tried a bite and didn't care for it. The sandwich was very tasty. A little thin for my liking but none the less tasty. Sweet potato fries were good just by themselves. Over all I enjoyed the lunch and left. If I'm ever there at lunch time with wifey I'll stop back in. It's a beautiful town. read more

Four of us ate dinner here on a Friday night. We were one of two tables in a town where there are no other choices. We had the two for $25 dinner offering. Kind of surprised at how bad the food, and service was odd. Rib Eye was tough, served with undercooked onions and mushrooms. My friends baked potato was not cooked all the way, and his fish was served with uncooked mushrooms. Another dish of crab cake and mac and cheese was atrocious. Mostly bread in crab cake and mac and cheese appeared to be boxed Kraft product. Couldn't eat it. I did however have scallops and they were good-though served on linguine with WAY too much butter and no seasoning that I could discern. Dessert was apple pie that had to be a grocery store boxed item-gross. I say service was bad because she was not friendly, served dinner with the salads still on the table, and overall experience was not what we had hoped for. Will not go again-we left half the meal on the table. They have a great spot to make something of this-but maybe they should stick to breakfast and lunch and just be a deli unless they get someone who can cook. read more

Every time we come here the food is always so good!... Their dinners are some of the best in the area for the money and the quaint atmosphere is perfect. The chef really knows the finer world of food. The clam chowder...the Chili..so freakin good. We just had the Cajun shrimp scampi ..fried spinach...omg over the top! Aside from the mediocre food and high prices, a side order of french fries with a steel nut from the fryer inside was the last straw. Since its re-opening I have been to the Deli a few times and it has progressively gotten worse in food quality as well as service. The LEAST the manager could have done was refund my money back for the french fries, however his akward bantering and half-hearted apology (with a giant smurk on his face) made this terrible situation even worse. Being a life-long resident of Island Heights, I expect better from its few establishments. I DO NOT recommend going to this establishment! Don't waste your time or money! read more

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST RESTAURANT DOWN THE SHORE. the food is fresh and prepared as you wait; the service is excellent; the food selections are great and your meal is the best you can get. the last review is in error. there is nothing in this restaurant for $40. the meals are $10-$12. there are early bird specials on Wed. and Fri and lunch specials every day. Believe me, this place is worth the 1 hour and 15 minute trip from up north. Try it and see what you have been missing. You never have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table and there is also entertainment on the weekend. Again, the food is superb and you get enough to eat. Tom and Rich make the best food, I don't know what these people are talking about. Fresh ingredients, always hot, very tasty. Sounds to me like maybe some of the competition decided to try and smear them on Yelp for very unfriendly reasons. We're regular customers, never had a bad meal - try the soups! read more

Been here several times for breakfast b/c of it's convenient location and service is always guaranteed to be extremely slow. Food is average at best. Over the weekend, I was in here and was appalled how the owner spoke to one if its patrons that I will NEVER be coming back here. A man and woman (who i believe had a walking disability) lowered the fan on the ceiling because they were cold and the owner berated them over touching the fan and then came over to us (to raise the speed on the other fan) and complain TO US about the customers in front of the couple and loud enough for them to hear it. I have NEVER seen a small business "owner" speak to a customer that way and I will NEVER bring myself to come here after the way he spoke to them. People need to be kind to one another and I don't support people not helping people. He made them feel so bad, they left..all for lowering the speed of the fan. It was the most bizarre behavior I have ever witnessed and I will not give service or my money to a business that doesn't respect customers, let alone human beings, period. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

i love this place its awesome the fiod is amazing except i only get down during the summer its great and they got some pretty nifty prices of lettuce if you know what im saying. they also have really good bags of chips and they got some good amouts of salt on that place if you know what im saying. read more
