The staff are super friendly and the location is convenient for those who aren't staying/living quite close enough to walk to bay village for a quick bite mid beach day. Fantastic neighborhood hoagie shop! They use fresh bread from New York and close their shop each day when they run out of bread, so get there early! I tried the Italian and the Turkey and Cheddar and liked the Italian more. The seasoning on the lettuce was amazing and the bread was so fluffy. Both were loaded with cheese and deli meats. Portions here are ENORMOUS and one full sized hoagie can feed a family of like 5. They also may sell you the cheese, deli meat, and bread separately if you ask! They have a big and very flexible selection of food to order, plus cereals, Girl Scout Cookies, muffins, chips, and more! They also have a variety of bottled drinks, coffee, tea, and other. Very fast service, and really nice indoor AND outdoor seating. You should definitely come here if you are hungry for anything, not just sandwiches. My god this is hands down the best sub I have ever had and that is a very difficult thing for me to say. Their bread is absolutely delicious and all their ingredients are fresh. I was skeptical of the high prices at first but when i saw the MASSIVE size of the subs i felt like i had a steal. And not to mention their breakfast--seriously one of the best breakfast sandwiches i've had on the island. During my one week vacation i went every single day (i wish i was joking) because it was so delicious, had incredible service, and had a huge menu with delicious combinations. Great sub! The bread was fresh and my roast beef was excellent and sliced thin. Overall a very filling sub. My only complaint was that I didn't get any cheese on the sub. The sign and menu say that they use provolone cheese on all subs. It was a little busy, so I will mention it when we go back. Give this place a try! read more

This place replaced The Black Dog Deli, a place with terrible food. This place took over the building. Apparently the owners have another deli in Bloomfield or somewhere up north. I tried to check their menu and found that they have NO website. I was able to find a search page that had a half dozen pictures. One of those was an undated picture of their menu board that was up on their wall. I was able to enlarge it to get an idea for my order. The search page did not provide a phone number but Yelp did list it. Now the worst part of eating take out is that the order takers do not know their menus! Neither do they pay attention and listen. I called this place and a young lady answered. I asked her a few questions about their menu items and she had to ask someone else on more than half of my questions. She had told me that they put provolone on their subs but that other cheeses were available. I asked the young lady what other cheeses were available? After an extended wait she came back and said one word ... Swiss. I asked about Italian cheeses but she had no clue. So I gave her my order: Large Italian sub, NO LETTUCE OR OREGANO, extra onions, mayo, salt and pepper. I asked that this sub be cut and wrap the 4 pieces separately. They did cut and wrap the 4 pieces separately. When I got home, my 2 friends showed up and we dug in. The first bite that each of us took showed that this sub was not what we expected. It did not have any lettuce or Oregano but also had NO ONIONS WHATSOEVER. From the look of it, this sandwich was about 1/3 Boiled Ham that was very salty. There was NO Hard Salami. There were 3 slices of a white tasteless deli cheese that was neither Provolone or White American cheese. There were NO TOMATOES. There were no other Italian deli meats we expect in an Italian sub. Worst of all, with tax, this sub cost MORE THAN $20.00. I will not return. read more

Went during a slow time so I can't comment on service. I was in and out in 10 minutes. People working there were friendly. After we stopped here during a bike ride and saw the gigantic subs we ordered an Italian and a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were delicious, the toppings were fresh and the bread outstanding. Attempted to purchase sandwiches from this store three times and was unsuccessful. Made phone calls two different days at two different times of day and was put on hold in perpetuity. It was not actually hold though, I just got to listen to background noise. Needless to say after minute 6 with no service,I aborted the mission. The third time I went into the shop and waited for five minutes with no service again. I decided Lenny & John's is not worth my time. Lenny and Johns subs are terrific! Quality is in the Thumann's brand cold cuts and fresh bread plus the know how to put it together just right. The half sandwich is very big enough for two people. Reminded me of home ( Preakness Gourmet deli) but not nearly as extensive their first year open. We needed a great basic deli here in Beach Haven with decent prices. Good luck! read more

Went here for the first time ever and the staff was pretty rude and slow, by 10 am they didn't have anymore rolls or bagels so we could not get what we wanted on the breakfast sandwiches. We ended up having to get different bread on the sandwich and the sandwich didn't even taste as good as we expected, don't really recommend this place for breakfast or for anything. read more
