    Asparagus and mushroom omelette bagel
    Rachel S.

Overall disappointing experience. Bagel was eh, portion size was okay, overall taste was fine. Service however was so slow and the value for your $ not great either. the pricing was a bit high in my opinion. This bagel shown with an egg on it cost me $6.50.... for a bagel! Not sure I would return except the convenience of it being next door of where we were staying. Note that this place is cash only (which honestly just makes me mad in this day of age). Covid situation: order at the counter for takeout or pickup. All associates had masks.

Good but a lot of cream cheese. Their service is fast, and if you need any changes with ur bagel they will do so without a charge! There's not many people there so great place and the ambiance has lots of shops in the town which is rlly close. The photo is not mine!

    Great bagel options

Great place to get fresh bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. They have a nice spread of bagel and cream cheese options. The service was very friendly and prompt. Lines were not long, and they have separate line for call-in orders. Just be prepared with cash, as they don't accept credit cards. Parking is available on the boulevard outside. We made two trips here during our week vacation in Surf City, and the bagels were a big hit with the family.

Local bagel shop with lots of fresh bagels and sandwich options along with various drinks. There's no seating inside, but there is a bench outside if you want to sit and people watch. I ordered multiple sandwiches: bacon, egg, and cheese, steak and egg, lox and cream cheese and. A couple of loose bagels. Iced coffees were decent and they also offer cold brew. My only gripe is that the lox and cream cheese was literally only lox and cream cheese. I expected some fixings with it like red onions, lettuce or tomatoes. Maybe I should've requested it. Nonetheless, I think it's still a great spot but would recommend grabbing a bag of fresh bagels and prepare the fixings at home. Prob the best bang for your buck.

However, I've developed gluten intolerance and it's hard to find places that offer options that accommodate celiac and gluten sensitive folks. I found that Surfside offered gluten free bagels and wanted to give a pork roll, egg, and cheese with salt, pepper, and ketchup. I was worried they wouldn't have any since I came late into off-season, but luckily they had plain and everything as bagel options. We took two orders of PREC w/ SPK - one on a GF everything bagel, one on a GF plain bagel. The GF bagels tasted almost like sandwich buns, but overall the breakfast bagel hit the spot without causing any terrible reactions. The everything bagel's seasoning definitely made it more subtle of the fact that it was gluten free. There's no seating at this place so it's more grab and go. They also offer coffee but I didn't opt for any. What's nice about the inside are the cool gift items they offer as well as the literal surf shop ambiance -- felt almost as if you were inside a shop in Hawaii. Price is premium in general on the island. There was a $4 upcharge for gluten free bagels so altogether we paid an extra $8. Total was around $25, but again during off season, we feel for the business as things start to slow down. Happy to support island businesses as long as the service is friendly and the food is great! Will give Surfside another chance next summer!

Five Stars for quality. Now, the not so good part: the service is terrible. On multiple occasions, I've asked for something only to find when I get home and open the box that I was given the wrong thing. It happened today. I asked for two sticky rolls with pecans and I was given two with walnuts. The person who seems to make the most mistakes is the older lady who works there (whom I suspect is the owner, as all the other employees defer to her). She always looks stressed and out-of-sorts. My other complaint is that they aren't customer friendly. Last year toward the end of the summer, a friend gave me a gift certificate from Ferrara's that was supposedly good to the end of October 1st when they close for the year. When we went to use it in September, our last visit of the season to the island, we found the store closed for a week for some family event. When I explained what had happened after they reopened this year and asked if they would still honor the certificate, the grumpy lady said "no" because they had already "closed the books" for the previous year. For crying out loud, it was $20 coupon and I was a regular customer (emphasis on "was"). Despite the excellent baked goods, I prefer to give my business to bakeries that treat me well. Hence, I now buy most of my baked goods elsewhere, including at Big Apple Bakery on E. Bay Avenue in Manahawkin (next to the Acme Supermarket). Their stuff is just as good as Ferrara's and they have a larger selection. One Star for service. Five Stars plus One Star divided by two is Three Stars overall.

I was excited to try the sugar coated jelly doughnut, but in my opinion and others in my household, the jelly to donut ratio was off, there was too much jelly filling. The Boston cream doughnut was just OK and the orange Creamsicle I didn't like it at all. Overall, the donuts are good, but we like the jelly donuts at Big Apple bakery in Manahawkin better. The prices were reasonable, 5 donuts and an iced coffee was $15. The counter workers were very nice.
