Potato Pickle

I would recommend this place over and over again to anyone who loves artsy decor, good food, and excellent service. We came here for the first time with our baby and our dog, and we had such a wonderful experience. This place is dog-friendly and even offers a yummy dog menu! Our server was exceptionally friendly and informative, even letting us know that we had only 6 minutes left before happy hour ended--which was super helpful! We ordered the Burrata Donut and Pickle Potatoes, both of which were uniquely made and delicious. Our dog also got spoiled with the Peanut Butter Banana Bowl. Definitely a 10/10 experience! We'll be coming back again and again.

Well, another fantastic meal here! From the location, to the ambience, to the staff, and of course, the phenomenal food. Compliments to the chef & staff once again.

Another exceptional dinner at Waverly! This place never disappoints. From the moment you walk in, the restaurant feels warm and welcoming. A special shoutout to our server, Ari, who was incredibly sweet, attentive, and accommodating throughout the evening. The drinks and food arrived surprisingly fast, even with the restaurant buzzing. Every dish was absolutely delicious, but the pudding deserves its own mention--it's the kind of dessert that has you scraping the bowl and licking the spoon because you don't want to waste a single bite. Between the live music, comfortable seating, excellent service, amazing food, and a lively crowd, Waverly has everything you could ask for in a great night out. It's one of those places we keep coming back to, and it never fails to impress. Highly recommended!

The ambience was perfect - all the windows and doors were opened and it allowed for the breeze to come in for those sitting inside. Love the light interior that matched the coastal vibes. The food was soooo good as well. Such a vibe with some great drinks that are also non alcoholic. They had some wellness drinks for those who want a non alcoholic drink.

Awesome. Came for Mother's Day (with reservation) and it was great all around. It's coastal, cool, breezy, a little upscale but not snooty, chill. Good food and strong drinks. Yours truly had a Bodega Boy; mezcal cocktail with sort of a horchata vibe. I also had the double double burger and it was delicious, perfectly cooked and amply portioned. Btw: get the butterscotch pudding. You're welcome. I left stuffed and slightly wobbly. Fun place, good service. I'd go back.

First time coming here and I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Such a perfect spot to stop by for delicious food and drinks. Not only did they have a great happy hour menu, they also have an adorable menu for the pups. Ellie loved her banana peanut butter puppy meal and I loved the assortment of snacks we ordered for the table. Cute vibe and the servers were attentive and helpful with the menu!

First visit and loved everything about this place! Location is so good, indoor/outdoor seating, cute ambiance, and delicious food. The cesar salad is a must!!! The double double was also so good! Server was very friendly and attentive to us. He found out it was my birthday and brought me a little dessert too!

Came here for breakfast on the Fourth of July for the first time. I loved it! The vibe is chill and beachy while being modern at the same time. Our server, Zach was great as well as the rest of the staff. The food was delicious. We will definitely come here again. The parking lot gets full easily but not a problem when you are going there for breakfast.

Stopped by this place on a whim! Was a really good choice for a casual but nice dinner on a Wednesday. Very friendly staff--Zach or Zack (unsure of his spelling) was great!!! He took care of us. The orange wine was funky, just how I like it. The cocktails were not too strong, and very flavorful and refreshing. Apps especially the ceviche (not pictured) were unique, light, and so tasty. The braised beef dish was so tender. The Cesar salad was good, and the fluffy big baked croutons w/cheese inside was unique but a little too rich for my taste. It could've used a little more salad dressing too. And the chicken added to it was quite dry and not flavorful. We would come back. :)

The ambiance at Waverly is unmatched. It's very laid back and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. We have always done walk in and usually get seated even though we do not have a reservation. Come early though (before 11AM)! For brunch I ended up ordering the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. It has a sunny side eye on top along with prosciutto and creamy Gruyère cheese sauce. Looks like an art piece! Super yummy and decently priced. Service is tentative and waitress was super friendly and enjoyed our conversation. We will have to come back for their lunch hours as a few items caught my eye.

Very Beautiful and relaxing place First time visiting from LA and I would definitely consider coming back every time I visit La Jolla. The service is quick and fast. They are absolutely professional, not like the type of servers who come to your table with weird body language and very high tones." BTW this is something I always pay attention to" The food was delicious! I got the avocado toast with sunny side up and my husband got the turkish poached eggs and he also loved it. The beverages were fantastic as well. My matcha Latte was very warm and lovely. The red drink is on the healthy shot list, sorry I can't recall the name at this moment but it was very refreshing. Thank you again and hope to see you all soon again!

One is a nice, sit-down restaurant. One is a coffee house. The third is the Pocket Pool and Bar. We found the service to be good, but we really didn't enjoy the drinks. The space was rather empty in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. We received coupons good for two welcome beverages at The Pocket when checking in at the resort. When we arrived at The Pocket after checking in but while waiting for our room to be ready, we found ourselves to be the only guests there. No reservations were needed. The clouds were out but it would soon be nice and sunny. We sat down and each ordered a zero proof cocktail. The ask was for something fruity and sweet. We ordered a variation of the Feeling Peachy, consisting of peach puree, citrus, mint, and bubbles. We did choose to give the bartender the freedom to make drinks that would be fruity and sweet as none of the drinks on the menu sounded like what we were feeling for. The bartender brought us drinks that we tried and decided we wouldn't have ordered if we didn't have vouchers for free drinks. As such, we acknowledged they weren't for us, though if we would have paid for them, we would have been disappointed. As such, I'd encourage anyone ordering drinks at The Pocket to stick with drinks on the menu. Speaking of the menu, the menu offers beach bites like smashed guacamole, craklin' buffalo wings, elote fries, quesadilla, sunset ceviche, and dirty nachos. The main event dishes include blackened Baja fish tacos, the wagyu double smash, millionaire's BLT, coastal Cali burrito, and Pacific poke. The balanced-ish menu items include pocket Caesar, the wedge, paradise bowl, and the Santorini. Treat Yourself dishes include cookie sando, assorted fresh fruit, and seasonal sorbet. Beverages include cocktails, wine, drafts, cans, zero proof. The Pocket is a surf-inspired bar with a view. There are televisions to watch sports games, and with the bar being part indoors and part outdoors, you can catch the nice weather or escape from it depending on if it is sunny or rainy. You can make a reservation on OpenTable. The bar hours are open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM. The kitchen is open Monday through Thursday from 12 noon to 6 PM, Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 7:30 PM, and Sunday from 12 noon to 6 PM. Should we visit the Alila Maria Beach Resort Encinitas again, we may give The Pocket a try again but more for the atmosphere, good service, and perhaps some bites instead of drinks.

There's a Macintosh amp on the wall to give proper IYKYK messaging which adds legitimacy to the DJ and the records he's actually playing. Not exactly yacht rock but you couldn't put a whole lot more energy (or volume) into the music without it intruding on the act of eating compared to the act of clubbing. The bass was noticeably tempered, whatever thump was possible was left to the imagination (a net positive for conversation). Food was reasonably imaginative and everything was tasty. We had the whipped feta, some cucumbery thing with goat cheese, Diver scallops, the pork agnolotti, and the wagyu. The scallops and pasta won over the wagyu, the relative novelty of the two relative to steak probably influenced. Dessert was a snickers Sundae. Tasty but the hard parts were hard to manage with only a spoon in the glass it was served in. I didn't feel like getting my hands involved but I was sorely tempted to. Probably a great date place. Definitely had more of a chick vibe. I think you'd get some points for knowing about this place before your date does. I went with my 22YO daughter at her suggestion. I'd go back. The Snickers dessert is really unique and so, so good. The atmosphere is beautiful and the DJ played a very eclectic selection, from Geroge Michael to "Chickenheads" haha. Highly recommend for delicious food, fabulous wine and a fun night out.

We did not have a reservation and were seated in the patio. This area is nicely shaded and there was a nice breeze. The sweet hostess recommended Volcano tostadas. We weren't overly hungry but ordered that, Mediterranean ceviche, and shared a Caesar salad. The ceviche arrived first and it was so beautifully presented. We dug in and it was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. Next, the tostadas came and they were equally delicious with perfectly tender and seasoned meat. The salad arrived last and it had the most delicious croutons I've ever had. They were crispy and buttery but not overly hard. Everything was really great from the friendly service to the food. I definitely want to stop by again on the way back!

I was so excited to be back in Encinitas I was literally buzzing and Mia's made my move back a thousand times better. This is the place I recommend to anyone visiting and where I take family and friends every chance I get. It's one of those places that the minute you see it, you smile. And the second you walk in, you never want to leave. It's beautiful and has this Mediterranean sexy and pristine vibe that sucks you in. On to food- I've had most everything on the menu I think by now but I do have some favorites! -Oysters- phenomenal. They come with cucumber lime mezcal mignonette, cilantro and tajin. They are exquisite. They aren't super big ( no one wants an oversized oyster let's be real). I love oysters but if they are too big it ruins it for me. They are the perfect size and as fresh as ever. -Crispy Spanish Octopus- I am very picky with octopus and always hesitant to order it. They crush it here. Like it's not super chewy as it can be. It comes with romesco sauce, yukon (the best) potatoes, spanish chorizo and chimichurri sauce. It's wildly delicious and the only reason I don't order it every time is when I'm with someone that doesn't like octopus and I love to share things but other than that, it's one of my faves. -Hamachi Crudo- This one is so incredibly fresh and light but somehow so satisfying at the same time. It's made with mango citrus tiger's milk (uh huh), charred mango, avocado, jalapeno, cilantro, milk -Squash Blossom Quesadilla- I usually prefer to order pretty light but I came in famished beyond belief and saw this on the menu. Unreal. It's made with squash blossom, Chihuahua cheese, Oaxaca cheese, roasted poblano peppers, fire roasted tomatillo salsa, cotija, cilantro, green onion. We added chicken to it. It was SO good. And even though it was ya know, heavy-ish as it's a quesadilla, I didn't want to nap after. It was somehow still light which I loved. The tacos are all great, small so order a few! Empanadas are fire- I'm not even an empanadas person but they are extremely addicting. And the ahi club I had recently, split it with a friend and was perfect because it's a giant piece of ahi. It's not like the kind where the bread takes over. There is actually girth there, it's super fresh and so good. Drinks- I am also picky with margaritas. I feel like a lot of times they swim in sugar, have unnecessary ingredients and I get heartburn just looking at them LOL Not here. They are definitely my favorite in San Diego and I'm not just saying that. They have a few different kinds, I've had them all and they are all divine. My favorite is probably the carrot passionfruit. I try not to gulp it down and actually enjoy it-it's that good. It's also healthy so I tell myself I'm not drinking alcohol ha. The aguachile is amazing if you like a little spice and it's cucumber-esque so it's very refreshing. The coconut is unreal if you like coconut and it's not too sweet like you may picture. The classic marg is also one I get often. I actually love them all equally as they all offer something different depending on my mood! They have live music Wed and Fri 4:30-7:00 PM ( pretty sure! lol) Treat yourself and go experience pure bliss.

When the girls each asked for a pint glass of ice to pour their seltzers into, I'd swear that I saw the bartender scoop the ice directly with the glasses, rather than using a scoop to pour ice into them. A huge no-no. Never risk a chip of glass into the ice well. Always use a metal scoop. Our friends went the next day and said it wasn't the case with them, so I hope I'm wrong.
