Waverly Beach: Wisconsin Lake Life with Miami Tiki-Bar Energy This place caught me completely off guard~in the BEST way. Coming back to the Fox Valley for my high school reunion, I expected to revisit some familiar territory. What I didn't expect was to find a lakefront destination that felt like a little slice of Miami dropped into Neenah. Waverly Beach Bar & Grille is a vibe. The outdoor patio and tiki bar are easily the biggest draw for me. Boats pulling up, drinks flowing, the water stretching out in front of you and that nighttime moon reflecting across the Ocean (MidWestern lake)~it legitimately gives you that "Am I still in Wisconsin?" feeling. The photos don't really do the location justice. Inside, there's plenty of space and a cool atmosphere that would translate extremely well for birthdays, reunions, private parties and other events. Then there's the staff. Michelle, Dakota, Jason & David--THANK YOU! We were there for our reunion and the service was phenomenal. Everyone brought positive energy, which unfortunately isn't something you can take for granted in the hospitality industry these days. Food~wise, I sampled the buffet and enjoyed the tacos. And as someone who loves exploring craft beer, having Spotted Cow on draft all night definitely made me happy. That said, I feel like I only scratched the surface here. The verdict: Waverly Beach isn't just somewhere to grab a drink. It's a destination. I'm coming back because I need to properly explore the food, beer selection and, most importantly that cute bartender they were calling Ms. Jackson (In my OutKast voice~IYKYK), & spend more time on that patio. My next business trip out there is in like 11 days, so I'll definitely stop in for the Brews.Views. & Food! Brews. Views. Food. Wisconsin ocean front property life. That's a combination I can get behind. read more

Waverly Beach is massive! The parking lot alone is huge, and I counted four bars--three inside and one outside. The waterfront setting is fantastic. Boats pull up to the sandbar, people swim in to grab food and drinks, and the atmosphere is lively and fun. When we visited, there was a live band playing and they had a Brewers game special: two 22-ounce Miller Lites for just $7. I honestly think this place is bigger than anything similar in the Milwaukee area. Whether you're looking for a casual day on the water, a large party venue, or even a wedding location, Waverly Beach has the space and setting to handle it. Definitely worth checking out! read more

The calamari was horrible, overcooked and the breading was bad. Service was good. That's the only reason I didn't give a 1 star. read more

Another disappointing visit to Waverly. We waited 10 minutes just to be acknowledged outside, and another 10 minutes for water--still no drinks. Our server was pretty basic, with little warmth or apology for the delays. When my Bloody Mary finally arrived, it was underwhelming and tasted more like watered-down tomato juice. My bruschetta came out well before everyone else's meal, and the food runner didn't say a word or acknowledge the issue. By the time the rest of the food arrived, the experience was already disappointing. A $45 bill for one entrée, an appetizer, and two drinks feels unreasonable given the service and overall experience. At this point, the view is really the only thing Waverly has going for it. read more

Excellent portion and flavor for the fried fish and tots with free soda refills. This restaurant also has excellent views of the beach. Servers are friendly and easy to have conversations with. Very cool restaurant! read more

I attended a private event at Waverly Beach the day before Mother's Day (25 adults). The guests of honor had arranged a buffet meal (turkey and sides). Unfortunately, there was not enough turkey. One of the guests of honor said they would bring more out. It never arrived and we were informed the kitchen staff had left early so they could prepare for Mother's Day brunch. Almost half of the guests did not get turkey. That's totally unacceptable. The server was very pleasant and does not share in this rating There was literally nothing she could do to remedy the situation. What's worse is the contact person for the event appears to have been ghosted. She called to discuss and had to leave a message. She never received a call back. read more

Went last month and the food and service was absolutely terrible. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch flatbread. It tasted smokey and gross. My dad sat at the bar for 15 minutes and watched multiple waiters go past him and never even acknowledge that he was there. The atmosphere is great but the food and service is horrible. read more

LOVE LOVE their salmon dinner. The best!! We always love the views of the lake. Service can be a bit slow but overall we still return as it is a very cool place. read more

Whelp here is my review take it or leave it, we ordered 5 dinners, one of the dinners took longer to prepare and father than stager start the food they just cooked it all at once so 4 of us got our food and the last dish took them 45 minutes longer so we were all done eating before the last person got their food. Sorry that's not acceptable. Next the waitress just disappeared so people weren't getting drinks, we asked for salt, ketchup, and tarter sauce which took another 20 minutes and then when we went to pay the waitress got it all wrong and we ended up paying for a meal we didn't order.. food quality was a 6.5/10 nothing was seasoned and semi cold when it came out. Skip this place for food, if you are going to a drink and scenery go. Wait staff as a whole aren't trained, bar staff is great kitchen staff need work! read more

Excellent service and excellent food! We would most definitely go back to eat here again.

Waverly Beach is a great spot with a fantastic lakeside vibe. I ordered the Captain Burger, which was solid and hit the spot, and enjoyed a couple of Busch Lights during happy hour--great deal! The location is definitely the highlight here. The view of the lake creates a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for kicking back with good food and drinks. If you're looking for a laid-back spot with good food and a scenic setting, Waverly Beach is worth checking out. read more

Average food at best. Nice place overall though. Renovation they had makes the place totally different looking.

Waverly Beach has scheduled music of all genres and scheds are easily found on Bananas Entertainment. The atmosphere is open-air with plaenty of seating choices. The waitresses are fair to obtain service from...that is... if one is actually working an assigned section. You may need to fetch a waitress to go and fetch yours, but that's ok as everyone knows that it is par for the course. Some servers only wait on certain tables. Your best course of action is to order your food and multiple drinks when you first order. This plan will carry you through your food-course and the rest of your enjoyable -listening time. read more

we were pleasantly surprised! We chose to take some people from out of town on a Friday night was very low-key in the extremely low. We thought we would try fish fry but instead we just ordered from the regular menu. I was skeptical, ordering the baked salmon dinner and let me tell you that was the best salmon I've ever had. i'm very critical when it comes to how salmon is prepared, but I absolutely loved it with the honey mustard topping. The service was wonderful even though we caused some delays of our own and she was very gracious about it. I'm actually very surprised that Beach isn't on a Friday night but I'm assuming everybody's running over to other fish my husband loved his pizza. My daughter loved her fried perch, and our friends that came to visit us. Enjoyed their meals as well. read more

This seemed like such a fun spot to check out during the summer with their lakeside patio equipped with a tiki bar and live music. Located right on Lake Winnebago, Waverly Beach is in prime location to show up by boat as well. In the past I had split a pepperoni pizza here and have also tried their Margherita flatbread. I felt as though both the pizza and flatbread were very oily/greasy. On one occasion we were told to seat ourselves upon arrival, but were ignored at our table for a good 15 minutes while we watched a handful of servers and staff at the bar right by us chatting before someone finally came over. I wanted to give this place another try since it has such a cool location and the vibes outside are so fun. However, Waverly's food has consistently been a flop for me and their service is hit or miss. After trying their Brisket Mac & Cheese during our most recent visit I knew I wouldn't be returning. I didn't even end up finishing my meal. The flavor combination was just not right and the cheese was a big grease pool. Their fried cheese curds were even lackluster. I'm almost positive they were reheated. Maybe I'm picking the wrong items on the menu here but after giving Waverly Beach three chances, they've officially struck out for me. We will not be returning. read more

Do not go here. Terrible food. we got 16 french fries. with the app platter to share. they downsized their beer glasses to 12 ounces. it's deceptive. looks like a 16 0z but it's not. customers are paying for their addition. Totally bad sysco food. so sad. nice addition. but seriously. jay went on for a beer 1 beer and a soda and an app and total was 40 dollars. read more

Only reason to go is the view which is why I'm not giving it a 1. Overpriced, slow if any service. Far more better options nearby.

BEE prepared! I had a tiki-rific time there! I watched a wedding from my spot from afar, which was a lovely sight against the lake's rhythm. The bar buzzed with bees, a bit of a sting in my comfort zone due to my allergy, but I still enjoyed the tiki bar. Due to bees and flies crawling among the limes, lemons, and olives, I avoided drinking with drink garnishes. Despite that, the drinks flowed, the staff was friendly, and I am all set to try the food next time inside. Even with the bees, it was a tropical paradise in Wisconsin! Just a heads up, my review might shift once I get a taste of the food. BEE prepared! read more

I was at Waverly Friday afternoon at their tiki bar. I ordered food and what I got could barely be called food. It was a Bang Bang Shrimp Wrap. The shrimp tasted like it was about to turn, the rest of the ingredients were just as bad. Very bland. Even the tator tots were bad. How do you mess up tator tots?? They tasted like they were cooked in oil that needed changing. This was the third time I have eaten there since the Anduzzi's took the place over and it was terrible every time. It's a beautiful place but looks aren't everything. They need to put some money toward the decent chef because their food is bad! read more

Easter Brunch - fantastic. Friendly staff, plenty of hot food, beautifully decorated and even the Easter Bunny! Loved it!

Perfect location on the water. Couple of girlfriends went to listen to music and have a cocktails on Sunday afternoon. Service was terrible....nobody acknowledged us and Waited to get served. ( it was not very busy) 4 employees standing around talking and on phones. We would have had a 2nd drink and decided to leave after we sat with empty drinks. read more

Sorry we suggested WB for a fish fry for our out of town guests. Tough fish and poor mixed drinks. Band that night was too loud to enjoy conversation. Wait staff did their best but it takes an organization for the whole experience. Look closely at the reviews here and alter your approach or the remodel will be a waste. read more

Service was not good and paid 3$ extra for a side that was offered by the waitress who did not tell us there was an up charge. When brought up to the manager he did nothing about it at all besides say it's written on the menu. We did not see it on the menu. Very sneaky way to make extra money. While this can be considered a customer error this could also have been handled very differently. This should have been taken off the bill. Our waitress also did not print out our bill before we paid. If I would not have asked for a receipt I would not have seen this and that is also not okay. read more

Waverly is a very fun spot in the summer! Love the patio, which is pretty consistently busy (I didn't snap a pic although many of my fellow yelpers have). We came around 445 and most tables were full. I enjoyed the service and when the beef on our nachos was forgotten, they took the food, got us a new batch of nachos all within a few minutes. The Waverly Mama is a rum/Malibu cocktail that tasted so so good!! Highly recommend:) also love music coming up this summer so be sure to check that out read more

Food was GREAT had the Jack Daniel's Beef Tips with a BBQ Glaze, Baby Red Mashed Potatoes with Steamed Broccoli. The portions were more than adequate! And the price quite competitive with surrounding restaurants, PLYS a spectacular view. Our Strawberry Margarits's got the night STARTED!! %%%. AND we wouldn't forget our server...Ben. I went to Waverly twice last week for the outdoor atmosphere. On Monday, I went for happy hour and the wait for a drink was about 30 minutes (although not busy). We also never received our BOGO deal as they advertised. Friday, while busier, was much worse. My server gave incorrect drinks multiple times and then after having friends join us, told us she was unable to split the bill. There was zero attention given to our table to the point where one of our friends never got a meal which went unnoticed until she brought out the bill (1 hour after bringing food out). He ordered bang bang shrimp tacos, and just got the bang bang sauce (which he still had to pay for). Because she didn't allow us to split the bill, there was a 20% gratuity added. I understand why businesses do this, but the lack of attention did not deserve this large of a tip especially when you can see servers standing in circles on their phones. I am disappointed, because the food and ambiance has improved over the years, but it is no longer affordable for the lack of service. read more

I wanted to love this place. The view is what gives it its main stars and I wanted to give it more. The service was good outside. Inside, forget about it. No one knew how to have someone buy merch. And no one would talk to us as we stood at the bar for over 20 minutes on a not-so-busy service evening. It was messy and kinda grungy.. but outside was beautiful. Food was a 3/5. read more

We used to enjoy going to Waverly. Food was never the best but was OK. We just ate there tonight as it was a beautiful day to sit by the water. The food however was quite bad. I had fried shrimp and the breading was so thick and hard, it was hard to taste the shrimp. My wife had a pasta dish that was so full of garlic and hard bacon, that it was hard for her to eat it. And this being Wisconsin, you would expect great cheese curds. The curds were weird and mushy inside. Never tasted such bad curds like this before. Most likely will not be going back. read more

Great location. Very nice remodeling - set up for groups of all sizes. I highly recommend the "bottled" beer and "canned" soda - everything else is absolutely atrocious (for those of you in Menasha, that means it's really bad). Something happened here. This USED to be an excellent place for "Friday Fish Frys" - or a burger, or even a cocktail. Not anymore. 5 people - non of us could eat the food - IT WAS THAT BAD - left a $30 tip - felt bad for the waitress - until I checked my CC statement - she changed her tip to $80! I'll go back for a bottle of beer and the chance to look at the obese office workers...m a y b e next summer. read more

Originally we just planned to attend an entertainment event in the ballroom, but when one of our friends invited us to join them for a Friday night fish dinner before the show we readily agreed. Our time with these friends was quite nice and the show was great. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the restaurant and the food. The first, and most important thing I must mention is that I observed a server directly handle food with an ungloved hand. It may seem like a small thing, and I doubt the server even realized what she did (some slices of bread slipped off the plates and though they landed on her serving tray -- and thankfully not the floor -- she reflexively picked them up with her bare hands and replaced them on the plates). In this time of the coronavirus (not to mention that it is still flu season) this is unacceptable. I will note however that our server (a different server) properly handled our plates with her hand on the bottom, not touching the food or eating surface. As for the food, my fish dinner was pretty sad. The fish was encased in a soggy breading that ranged from slightly under-cooked on two pieces of fish to almost burnt (yet still soggy) on the third piece. I peeled most of the breading off and just ate the fish which fortunately was acceptable. The cold, dried out french fries apparently died in a holding bin -- there is no way that they just came out of the fryer. I was also served a dried out heel end of the bread -- not even a couple pats of butter could salvage it. The coleslaw and tartar were okay but unspectacular. My plate was missing the slice of lemon that I noticed on all the other plates at our table (there were twelve of us). If it fell off my plate at least the server didn't pick it up with her fingers and replace it. Lastly, from an independent source I learned that the establishment only scored 78 out of 100 in a recent health inspection. Fortunately none of the violations were "critical," but I doubt the kitchen would get an "A" placard in New York City. On the plus side, the ball room was a decent venue for the show we went to see after dinner. But I'll never be back for the food. read more

Decided to give it one more shot this year. Haven't been there since last year. The inside Bartender could not care less if we are standing at the bar. By the way two bars, maybe four people sitting at the bar. The outside music used to be a go to place, not anymore. Took forever to get our food as usual. It was not very hot. Fries were advertised as natural cut, they were not. These are coated french fries. We spent just about $200 drinks and food for four adults and two kids. The waitress was very nice, but not trained. We sat at our table for about 30 minutes after we're done eating and she never cleared the table. So we paid and left, It's a beautiful place but I won't be back until I hear people talking about great things there. They need to bring back good music. Sorry to say, but the two guys on Sunday Father's Day were terrible. Oh, one other thing, the first three items we ordered on the menu they were out of. read more

A great bar with a great location. They have good food that is I step above normal bar food. I got the Philly. It wasn't the best Philly I have had but it was a good sandwich. The tator tots were cooked perfectly, crunch in every bite. The beat part, was the service. The service was prompt and friendly. I would come back but I would get something else. I am thinking to try the fish (haddock) tacos next time. read more

Went to Waverly Beach to enjoy a meal with family members a couple of nights ago. Music was so loud that we had to shout orders at our wait staff. We asked if there was any way to lower the volume a bit. Wait staff said they would ask. Received our meals with wrong sides and such (maybe wait staff could not clearly hear our orders?), with wait staff stating that the DJ had been approached but would not lower the music volume. So, we ate our wrong orders as quickly as we could and got the heck out of there, as it was not possible to carry on the conversations that make for a family dining experience. Food was good but not great...won't be going back! read more

It is such a beautiful setting; the building is impressive. Why was the nice parking lot not full? Okay, it started well, our waitress (Nickera) was wonderful! From there it went downhill. It's Friday night in Wisconsin ... no fish special? They have perch, cod and salmon on the menu ... no walleye, haddock or blue gill. Pricing, I wish I could say it was worth it ... it was not! I had the perch, the proportion was average, the fish was over cooked, price was the highest I have seen. We had 7 adults in our group, we agreed at best the food was average. In spite of the high prices, they added a 3% card fee! Oh it doesn't stop there ... After spending over $200 on food, 3 of us went out to listen to the band, We sat down at a table, a waitress informed us we needed to order food in order to sit at the table. They did provide a "detention" area way off to the side where we could sit without ordering food. With so many good restaurants, with so many reasonable restaurants ... it will be a while before we go back. read more
