Work was good but they scammed me on parts. They charged me $185 for a $30-55 delta shower cartridge. Paid $400 for a job that took 15 minutes. Called them and she said that's how much the part cost. So apparently Home Depot charges waterworks plumbing 6x the normal cost. read more

I have had a nonfunctioning push button flusher on one of my toilets for some time and finally decided to do something about it. I was either getting it repaired or replacing the toilet. I went to my handy dandy guide Yelp to find a reputable plumber/plumbing company. I looked at a few companies and opted for WaterWork Plumbing based on their Yelp rating and location. They were rated a 4.0 out of 5. They were located in a neighboring city. I called on a Friday afternoon and was given an appointment for Monday. No problem! To my surprise, I received a callback that a plumber had become available and could come right then. I was excited to get my toilet situation addressed on the same day. Mark was the dispatched plumber. He was on-time, professional and knowledgeable. He was able to change my push button flusher to a traditional handle one. He also replaced the cap and hoses in the tank to prevent a future call. He even adjusted my water valve to the proper level to have the toilet fill back up quickly. At some point, someone had dialed down the water causing it to fill up slowly. Mark was the man for this day for me! It was the answer for the problem and he was able to eliminate future problems. This was worth every dime that was spent and they get five stars from me. I also have added them as a contact in my phone should I need their services again. read more

Very disappointed with Water Works Plumbing (Ferndale). On 06/16/2026, I called Water Works to schedule an appt to have a 2.5 gallon water tank installed, that I purchased, under my bathroom sink. The receptionist asked if it was a insta hot water tank. I said yes, it's a Mini Tank Water Heater. Note: These two tanks are the same except one heats faster and stays hot longer. The receptionist scheduled my appt. for the next day 06/17/2026. Plumber Michael came timely and was very nice. Micheal stared at the new tank for a minute then pulled out to manual. I asked Michael if he knew how to install this particular water heater tank. He said, "No". In other words, Michael did not know how do install this particular hot water tank. Why are you looking at the manual? He then stated, the tank was too large to install. MICHEAL STATED THE CHARGE FOR SERVICE WAS $195.00. I was shocked as Water Works Plumbing never quoted me a service fee or gave me an estimate. I then called Water Works Plumbing to tell them Michael did not do ANY work so why am being changed $195.00. The receptionist stated there is a service fee of $195.00 just to come out. I asked Water Work Plumbing if I returned the water heater tank for a smaller water heater tank today, could they come back tomorrow to install it, waive the service fee and just charge for the installation (labor). Water Works Plumbing said, "No". Water Works Plumbing charged me $195.00 plus 5% for using a debit/credit card totaling $204.75. I was forced to pay by card because Micheal could not take cash. I paid this ridiculous bill for 15 minutes of nothing . What a rip off. I will never use Water Works Plumbing again. As a previous Water Works Plumbing customer, I will be cutting ties with this business. SIDE NOTE: On 4/01/2026, Water Works Plumbing removed and kept the old 2.5 gallon water tank that they were replacing at the cost of, wait for it... $352.70. Should have learned then. read more

We received a letter from the City of Southfield stating that our lawn sprinkler system's backflow preventer must be tested by a licensed plumbing contractor who can test and tag it. WaterWork Plumbing was the only company I found that could test it, and they did, on June 3, 2026. The schedule communication was good and they showed up on time. The test took about 15 minutes. I gave the company 4 stars instead of 5 because the price of the test was a little steep. The City of Southfield did not reimburse us the cost of the test. read more

I called this company because my toilet was leaking from underneath the tank. Two technicians came out, worked on it for about an hour, and assured me the issue was fixed. I paid for the service and expected the problem to be resolved. Unfortunately, the toilet began leaking again just a few days later. When I contacted the company, I was told the repair was only a "temporary fix" and that I would need a replacement part for a permanent solution. The issue is that this was never explained to me during the service visit. At no point was I informed that the repair was temporary, that additional parts were needed, or that the problem could return immediately after they left. The company later claimed I acknowledged this by signing their paperwork, but the technicians never verbally discussed any of this with me. Had they been transparent from the start, I would have made a more informed decision. I also requested a follow-up call from management regarding the lack of communication, but no one ever contacted me back. I have been used WaterWork Plumbing for years - since they first opened and David (the owner) was the only plumber. It has grown a lot since then, but they are still friendly and come out quickly for emergencies. I did have an issue with my most recent service, but David reached out to me and took care of my concerns. My issue with the service was being overcharged by 1/2 an hour and the plumber did not clean up after he was done. Again, my issues were taken care of and will gladly use Waterwork Plumbing in the future. read more

I have previously used this company and had an amazing experience. However, the most recent job was done very poorly. I would also add that my original plumbing concern still is not properly fixed, and yet I was told that they would not fix it, even though I paid over $2,000 due to the fact that I communicated that I am prepared to take this matter to court. I can't recommend this company to any one.They provided a great presentation, but failed in other areas. On 5/8/26, a repair person came to my home arriving approx. 45 minutes late. He took pictures and went to his truck a couple of times. He stated the job would take four hours. Upon leaving the young man, stated that him or another person would return Monday. So, we reschedule for Monday, 5/10. On Monday, they were on time, 9:00a., but not prepared. Again going to the truck many times and taking a break. The job was completed in less than two hours. I , was never informed that I had to pay for a second person. I thought I was paying by the hour. (the company charge by the hour) Two parts were replaced. Also, the young had stated a customer informed him coupons were available on line. On line coupons are only available if you requesting an appointment and if you signup to receive their email. After, I informed him of this he stated, since you spend over 600.00, I can give you $60.00 off. Why didn't he inform me of this after calculating the cost of the job. Also, I observed the young man placing wood and ceiling molding from my ceiling into the truck. I requested that he returned those item. Most companies would have either asked if I wanted/ or placed them in the outside dumpster. I cannot and will not recommend Waterworks Plumbing to anyone and will never use them again. Material was hiked up 90%. The only remove if, three boards from the ceiling. This company is a rift off. They take advantage of the elderly and women.... This is the least honest and most obnoxious company I've ever dealt with. Charged me $400 to look at my toilet. Ended up making it worse, broke the flange and then wouldn't let me speak with a supervisor. Every day, for four days, they said we will call you back by end of day and they never did. For a week I had a smelly open hole, in my bathroom floor, where a toilet was supposed to be. I finally broke down and called a different plumber. I had to pay the new plumber $650 to fix the issues that Waterwork created. So if you want to pay someone to break part of your house, make excuses. and then never return your phone calls, Waterworks is the place for you. Side note, the second plumber I called said "you'd be surprised how many times we get called in to fix an issue that Waterworks created". To edit my response and respond to waterworks, the last review I placed on yelp was five years ago, so obviously I don't hand out bad reviews "like candy". As you can see from their response and by calling me a liar, they also lack professionalism. When I said I'd come to their office, that was in hopes of having a supervisor speak to me. This is because the agent you do get when you call, won't connect you to supervisors and admits they "have no plumbing experience, so can't speak to how things break." I'd also like to point out, they don't return calls, but they respond to yelp immediately. Shows you they care about marketing but not their customers. read more

Very disappointed in the experience this morning. I personally have used your company's excellent services and customer care service for a long time. I live right down the street, so when my brother's home needed a toilet replacement ( which we bought one) or have it repaired, we called WaterWorks! We were told the rate was $49 for the first 30 minutes and then $99 an hour afterwards. I started my timer as soon as Cullen pulled the truck up and got out. We went in the house to tackle the problem. I showed him the box with the new toilet in it if we needed to put one in. I was trying to save money for my brother, as he was still driving in from where he lives. So I showed the technician the inside of the toilet and what work my brother had done before we called. He installed a KISSLER Fill Valve: Mansfield, Plastic, and a handle with a long metal arm and nut to tighten. I talked to the tech and said we need to save some money on this do what you can to do that. He said he thought the handle was the problem, that he had the same KISSLER Fill Valve: Mansfield, Plastic on his toilet, but he doesn't have one now and had to go back to the shop to get it. I told him that is a brand new one. So he said I have to get a new handle for the toilet, I need a plastic handle. I asked if the clock is still running on this? ? He said yes, I don't make the rules, it's only a few blocks away, I'll be back in just a few. I let him know I wouldn't charge a customer for driving time to do that, you should have that part in your truck. It's a basic thing. Anyway, he did his thing and I let the clock run too. It didn't take long. The next thing you know, after a little bit of struggling with getting the handle on and having to take apart the Fill Valve, he got it together. Then he put some water in the tank and flushed it down and adjusted the tension of the handle nut. When he was all finished, my timer was at 42 minutes. Then the problem began. What to charge? Who's going to pay and how?? Cullen said at first a figure in the $180 or $190 range I believe and I said no way, I had 42 minutes, I had called my brother on the phone as we went down the stairs and he got in the truck to write up the charges.. he then came up with $175.41 I was going to write a check and I had quickly walked 3 houses away to my place to get my check book. I let him know I wasn't very happy with the charges. $175.41 for a toilet handle to be installed!!! I've never been so ticked off as then, but I kept my cool. I even grabbed a water bottle for Cullen to drink after doing the job! My point is this. I feel you overcharged my brother for services rendered.. I would appreciate some money coming back to him, so that he may call you again himself for any other service in the future. I am upset and made to look bad for wasting his money on poor service. Yes, the problem is gone today, but, at what cost?? You just may have lost two or more customers on my block. I was the first house on the block, I believe, that started using your service years ago. The service part of the job was very good, and Larry was very helpful and quite respectful. He also gave good tips on how to keep everything running good. The part the I did NOT like was the price. When I contacted WaterWork, I was asked what the issue was (and I told them that I have 2 (two) clogged toilets), and then (after they hers what the issues were) they told that it would be $190/hour. (I thought 'ok, a little high, but I need a working toilet') and for 2 toilets it shouldn't take more than an hour. It took 35 minutes (one clog got unclogged successfully, and the other needs more help at a later date). The bill came to $240...Now I'm a bit mad because AFTER the young lady on the phone heard the problem, but didn't say that toilets are charged individually- regardless of the time used. That isn't fair, especially knowing that she quoted the price AFTER she heard what the problems were, but they didn't hold to that price due to me needing 2 toilets unclogged (which she knew beforehand) . Seeing how this went, I probably will not be using Waterwork again. read more

Hello all, I would like to give full marks to WaterWork Plumbing for all the help they have given us both recently and in the past. Our basement flooded a little over a month ago and they got a few guys out there right away to help get us cleaned up, but had to come back because of other problems that arose in the upstairs bathroom. After they got us all good and flowing again they said we would probably need yearly maintenance, but then this week our bathroom sink and shower started to not drain again. I gave them a call and they had one of their veteran plumbers (Arnie) right near the house so they sent him by to check it out. Arnie was great - and his helper was also, but I'm sorry buddy, I forget your name. Arnie & Friend got us all good and flowing again and also explained the problem. Apparently, the sink has piping under it done up in a way that neither of them had seen in their 50+ combined years of work and that's our main problem - it's some sort of strange accordion style piping. Arnie's friend was delicate enough to get the snake down the sink and got it cleaned out. Arnie worked on the shower and explained the problem there is that the basket for the drain is so incredibly small that it gets plugged up with even minimal hair and whatnot - I'm bald and my buddy has fairly short hair so we are minimal hair for sure! In fact, the basket is so small that Arnie couldn't even get the snake down it and proceeded to clean it out with a long screw. Arnie got my buddy's hair out of there and we are once again flowing freely! WaterWork cost is certainly fair and their workers are great! Woke up this morning to find that drain water was leaking steadily from our main cleanout and an upstream access Y, so called them up and (sadly) opted for the emergency service since this is not a regular occurance and weren't comfortable with the leak continuing until Monday morning, given the volume that was coming out. After leaving a message, someone called back and we were able to set up an appointment and the tech came out about an hour or so later. Up until this point... things were great. The tech that came out was rude and unprofessional to say the least. He basically waved me off when I tried to explain to him what issues we were experiencing (including some new ones that had happened since the call), would shout out "HEY!" loudly from the basement when he needed something, acted impatient with me and like I was inconveniencing him whenever we spoke (even when he initiated the conversation), left the work area with standing, stinking water on the floor from the snaking, tracked water/mud/sludge up the basement stairs up to the door and was (amazingly) especially rude to me when he was taking PAYMENT. I had to PRY an explanation of what work was done, what the cause may have been (knowing that it can be hard to tell) and as he was telling me, he was moving toward the door anyways. $400 for an emergency plumbing visit... nobody wants to take that hit, but as a homeowner sometimes it's necessary. I just wasn't counting on the person doing it to be such an asshole, pardon the phrasing. I've called Cregger Plumbing for emergency work before and now I'm absolutely kicking myself for not doing so this time. I will NOT be using WaterWork again in the future ever and I'll give anyone willing to listen the same earful I'm posting right now. Do better, WaterWork. read more

Review of WaterWork Plumbing - A Costly and Frustrating Experience I hired WaterWork Plumbing to run a gas line to a newly installed tankless water heater on a time and material basis. Unfortunately, my experience with them was disappointing from the start. First Visit: They sent out a young technician who charged me $99 just to tell me he didn't know how to calculate the pipe size and didn't want to go through the finished ceiling. As an engineer, I ended up doing the calculations myself and installed a 2" PVC conduit from the gas meter to the mechanical room (about 40 feet) to make the job easier for the next technician. Second Visit: I called again, reconfirmed it was a time and material job, and requested a qualified plumber. Yet again, another young technician came out who clearly lacked experience. He tried to push for a flexible gas line that didn't meet the required capacity based on my calculations. He eventually said he needed a second person and that they'd send me a quote--then charged me another $100. The quote came back at 3 times the expected cost, likely assuming I'd just go with it since I was already $199 in. I declined and hired an experienced plumber from Gas Tech, who did the work alone, professionally, and for a third of the price. He told me any competent plumber should be able to size gas lines and work through finished ceilings. In his words, I "must have gotten a lame company." Attempt to Recoup Wasted Money: Still trying to recover the sunk cost, I asked WaterWork Plumbing to do a simpler job: replace the exhaust PVC line for the water heater. Initially, they claimed they only do full water heater installs--not individual repairs--but I insisted since this was always a T&M job, and they should have said that up front. They eventually agreed. They sent out the same inexperienced technician, who I had to constantly supervise. I specifically told him to replace the elbow and full coupling below it. He tried to keep part of the original joint in place until I stopped him and explained again what was needed. After finally removing the part, he admitted it was in bad shape--which I had pointed out from the beginning. Pricing & Cleanup: He did a sloppy cleanup job and tried to charge me full price, including $80 for about $15 worth of parts, and even charged me for a section of 2" PVC that I supplied myself. I had to push just to get one of the $100 service charges refunded. ________________________________________ Summary: WaterWork Plumbing sent out unqualified technicians, wasted my time and money, and delivered poor-quality work at inflated prices. Even basic jobs were mishandled, and I had to monitor them closely to avoid further issues. Avoid this company if you want competent, honest, and efficient service. read more

I would not recommend this company for outdoor buried downspout tracing and clean out. They may be competent indoor plumbers but they did not seem familiar about this type of effort. Guys were ok. Leader was a bit brusque. read more
